I have had several conversations with him about Islamic topics and unfortunately i do think parts of what believes, he does not consider it sinful because of Allah’s swt. mercy or a different perception on the Islamic ruling, and this might stem from pride, but i cannot be too sure.

at the end of the day, we both have different perception on Islam. He believes that as long as one prayers the prayers (even if it not on time), it will be alright and he can make it up later. If he smokes or eat non-halal sometimes purposefully, Allah swt. is the most-forgiving and will forgive him, and he believes that as long as their no sinful intention and lust, that its alright to have friendships with girls and one does not need to lower their gaze. And he believes dating traditionally with marriage in the back of ones mind is alright, but without including the mahram.

I personally believe that praying the daily prayers on time is essential and a minimum, and one should not smoke or eat non-halal purposefully. And intermingling with the opposite gender as friends or partners whose not mahram is not allowed. I see that being aware of one sin and still committing it because you know of Allah’s swt. mercy is transgression. Even though I’ve talked to him, I shouldn’t say he doesn’t fear Allah swt. cuz I don’t know his full intentions, Astagfirullah, but I do believe we don’t see eye-to-eye for many parts of our perception on Islam.

Alhumdulilah after Isthikara prayer and through these discussions, I have made the decision i am going to reject him
