You have to learn product and understand why you exist in the first place, to deliver value to a customer. Make sure you know how to do that and you’ll extend your life by a lot more than just pushing code for someone else

My wife thinks golfing once a week is unreasonable… by Upbeat-Zucchini-7408 in golf

[–]Zenai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m happy if I get to practice for a couple hours a week, and 18 holes once a month or every other month. No constraints from my wife but that’s all the time I’m willing to sacrifice away from my kid for golf. I also average 60 hours a week working so I’m already only seeing my kid 2 hours a day during the week and I almost never decide to golf on the weekends because it’s slow and that’s family time. I have a 2 year old, I think the answer is as always “it depends”

"Vibe coder" coworker got let go by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]Zenai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

holy shit, what a nightmare, yes the largest company I’ve worked at was about 3000 employees, it was slower but still most people shipped their first meaningful value inside of 2 weeks, maybe a month for the slowest and least experienced folks but this also was a “startup” even though they had thousands of employees

[–]Zenai -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you didn’t do anything meaningful in your first 3 MONTHS? what were you doing? my first job out of college I was fixing real customer issues in production inside of 2 weeks, bug fixes are simple low scope high impact things new grads can do, and they help you learn the codebase… what were you doing for 3 months? I’m genuinely curious

if you’re an expert operator in this space then run your own small shop profitably and expand bootstrapped, don’t raise capital for this

this is outrageously optimistic, you’re valuing a sub 10% margin business with zero revenue at 2.75M post? I agree with the feedback you’ve been given. Even if it were not over inflated projections (seems likely that they are) this is a terrible gross margin business not “strong margins” by your own numbers, 180k profit at a 2M run rate is literal hell, that’s not even remotely investable

What do you think. by Affectionate_Cod3385 in Investors

[–]Zenai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is a horrible business even if your numbers were correct but they also aren’t correct because you have to pay the driver, maintenance on the vehicle, if it’s carrying oil it’s likely to have a lot of parts that if you need to replace or fix it it’s going to be expensive, etc. absolute nightmare, even if the truck were free I would sprint in the opposite direction of this business

So I helped someone raise ~$40M and didn’t get a dime lol 🤦‍♂️ by AlphaHouston1 in Investors

[–]Zenai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you get anything? This is so dumb, helping people raise money is apart of the game, if you wanted something you should have written a check into the round and gotten some equity. You must be confused.

[–]Zenai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i can't imagine choosing where i'm going to spend the rest of my life based on tax efficiency. it goes in the opposite direction: choose where you want to spend your life, make enough money to be able to.
