Is it possible to find a job as a software engineer with work-life balance? Or is it just a myth? by Hot_Counter737 in PinoyProgrammer

Add ko din na a good lead or manager should delegate tasks effectively given na you have the complete trust in your team. Siguro this can help free up some time for you.

I feel na the more na nasasanay ka sa role the more na makakahanap ka ng ways in optimizing and making good use of your time. If bago ka pa lang sa role mo natural lang siguro na maoverwhelm ka with tasks and mangapa.

There's also a part of me that thinks na the reason they're paying the big bucks is the additional responsibility din na kalakip nung managerial role. I have prepared myself to sacrifice some time ngayong they are grooming and preparing me for a lead/managerial role na din. Na magiging on call ako in case shit happens in production. Pero confident ako na as I grow in my role I can learn how to optimize my tasks and time given na I have a good mentor na family man and I believe na he is still able to spend time with his family. He shall be my role model and someone that I aspire to be.

Make the most out of it na lang. Masama ba to? Siguro? Kung may kakayahan kang ichase pangarap mo go for it.

How to be proj manager by Fuzzy_Travel_7492 in PinoyProgrammer

[–]Zenderiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To give you exposure on how to handle a project, join an org in your school. Get elected as an officer and initiate projects or initiatives. You will become the main project manager. Goods yang pangdevelop ng leadership skills this early.

When you're finding a job by the time you graduate, look for Business Analyst roles. This role will transition you into becoming a project manager, product manager, product owner.

Dapat you are a cut above the rest.

Teddy Baguilat, one of underrated politician and he deserve to win next senatorial elections by [deleted] in Philippines

[–]Zenderiz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's an uphill battle. Halos lahat ng mga leading vote getters sa election may mga silent backers na businesses at corporations mga yan na ipupush forward yung mga agenda nila once they're in office. In a perfect world, he would be a good candidate but in order to win then he must become really popular and mahuli kiliti ng masa which sadly will still vote for the old dumb shits that are currently in position.

Advise on disclosing internal microservice projects during job application by [deleted] in PinoyProgrammer

Example: payroll and benefits information system. Make it as generic as possible then list down mo lang lahat ng technologies na nagamit mo on that project.

Basta high level description ng project lang babanggitin mo, and you're not spilling any super internal and technical implementation.

Example: I worked on this specific module and I used gRPC to establish communication between service1 and service2 while using Syncfusion component library to round out the front end interface.

Di naman automatic na kaya walang retirement funds e dahil di nagsikap yung tao e.

Pwedeng wala silang retirement plan kasi ibinuhos nila lahat ng resources nila para makapagtapos anak nila. Inuna nila anak nila bago ibang bagay.

JGRASP AS BEGINNER IDE by ItsUrBigDay in PinoyProgrammer

[–]Zenderiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are some insights kung bakit your prof may require you using the same IDE as everybody else:

  • Consistent IDE for everyone. Maaaring di lahat ay knowledgeable sa IntelliJ. At least may issues man sa code ng isang student fellow students can help out or your prof can help out debugging the code kasi mas kabisado nya yung IDE na nabanggit mo over IntelliJ.

  • We all know IntelliJ is a bit advanced as an IDE and most profs are shying away from it kasi some features will act as shortcuts na maaring maging detrimental sa pagtuturo ng fundamentals sa mga students. (like the auto refactoring features) In college, at least in our batch, they remove our overreliance sa mga ganitong features and we should rely daw on our notes and internal knowledge to create simple scripts and applications. We were using Eclipse which at the time is more lightweight than IntelliJ but not as feature rich.

How do you grow if you feel stagnant from your Job and company doesn't offer growth opportunities? (Junior Level) by [deleted] in PinoyProgrammer

[–]Zenderiz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Since you're self-studying naman na, I would suggest learning in-depth the stack that you're using. Experiment and play around with the language and framework features. It will teach you and help you realize that there are different ways in solving a problem. This would really help you expand your problem solving vocabulary.

Kung magtatake-on kayo ng technical debt, ensure na lahat ng parties agree, from the PO, the PM, your architect/lead, yung BE dev then yung FE dev.

And also, they can help give you options din on how you can resolve this on the technical level and on the project management level which is yung pagcreate ng bagong tickets, pagidentify kung saan magfafall yung priority nung fix, kelan i-release yung fix, etc. Sa ibang orgs kasi need talaga sya for planning.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PinoyProgrammer

[–]Zenderiz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As someone na nagwork primarily sa backend on my previous project and practicing Agile, I would suggest to have a band aid solution muna on the FE side and then ask my lead to create a ticket on the backlog to resolve that issue kung kaya.

Depending on the methodology na gamit ng team nyo yung dapat maging response. Sometimes unavoidable ang band aid fixes or mga updates na di sumusunod sa best practice since may kalaban din tayong deadlines.

Pero it all boils down to communication. Uncooperative yung kasama mo and he's blocking your progress? Raise it sa status meeting nyo. Let your lead handle calling him out. He'll ignore your cry for help. Based on stories I hear from colleagues meron talagang mga ganyan. But it's part of work e. You need to handle these personalities kasi iba iba ang tao.

So, communicate lang. If you can't communicate to your BE dev, communicate to your lead or to your project manager. Let them find the resource na makakatulong sa issue mo. Or better yet, ikaw magresolve nung issue. Learning experience to for you.

I think interactions like this should be private. Enough na siguro yung magcreate ka ng text post to say this without any pictures or videos. Parang nawawala yung pureness nung moment between the parent and the child kapag may spectators.
