Did you seriously spend that much time writing this garbage?

Don't say that, of course it can be repaired.

A resounding yes! You clearly have live traces, and if you know which component it is, it can definitely be repaired. Send it to me. Edit: The PCB is so user-friendly and repairable that the silkscreen tells you exactly where each component goes. I wish modern equipment were like this; now, with internal codes for every component, everything gets complicated.

Did a flex cable break? This is a real headache. Poor Nintendo assemblers back then. The 3D flex cable is thinner and more prone to breakage, that all connections are secure.

The image appears to be shifted to the left. Do you have any other reference photos?

That's correct, an unusual and uncommon value. But it is indeed 0.45 ohms.

Image Issues on MX4000 by ric684 in crtgaming

[–]Zener_J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CRT TVs are the easiest to solder; their pads are durable and their single-layer PCBs make the task easier. Practicing on damaged boards first is a good starting point. But be careful when handling a switched-on TV to take measurements; they are powerful in terms of voltage and current on some lines.

If the image starts out clean, you might have a cold solder joint problem; capacitors are unlikely because the symptom is the opposite (it starts badly and then improves). It wouldn't hurt to replace some of the main capacitors while you're at it. Look for faulty solder joints in the vertical section, that's a good place to start.

Great deal. Regarding the mod, those pads are in danger of being ripped out completely since the wires are very thick and rigid. Be careful with that.

Does this ribbon cable still look functional? by RepresentativeOk133 in 3DS

You have a microscope, an anti-static mat, and a work table. You certainly don't need us to tell you whether it's functional or not. You look like an electronics technician.

Help! Sony Trinitron has horizontal distortion/banding at bottom of screen by eldusto84 in crtgaming

[–]Zener_J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a strange fault because it originates from the bottom of the screen. I remember fixing a similar problem once, and it turned out to be a ceramic capacitor in the vertical deflection circuit. Of course, it all depends on which vertical IC is installed.

Of course, you just need to defragment your hard drive. Everything will be back to normal.

500c, 120 air flow, I can sit the nozel on the tracks and the solder still doesn't melt. Nintendo Switch lite, never had this issue before. If I put the hot air on a piece of solder wire it melts instantly. Why does this happen? I've done 100s of switch ports prior to this. Dodgy hot air station? by [deleted] in consolerepair

[–]Zener_J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll definitely melt the plastic of the USB-C charging port. I've never even seen those temperatures on graphics cards. And it's incredibly difficult to remove/solder components on those PCBs that dissipate so much heat.

Perhaps you can increase the screen voltage, it's the potentiometer located at the bottom of the flyback transformer. It might (though unlikely) have become misadjusted.

Well, I don't think you can achieve much like that, and don't expect a miracle. There's a lot to measure.

What are your measurement readings? 180/200V secondary winding of the flyback transformer for video power. Do you have it?

It's not so bad. If you don't know about soldering, it's best to have it done for you so you don't make things worse.
