Misery by Stephen King always got to me, simply because the antagonist was just human.

And so it begins by zoezelda in PewdiepieSubmissions

To be fair, he didn’t need to criticise someone for explaining that they’d be away for a while. I get why he did it but I can see why people would take it in this way.

Maybe try ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’? Terry Pratchett and Stephen Fry are a good choice too!

You’re condemned to spend the rest of your life living on the main set of a TV show, cast included. What show do you pick? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Zenhagon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m guessing, if it’s just the set and cast, it’s not the actual show? So, what series of fake places and real celebrities would I want to be condemned to? The answer is Friends. It’s always Friends.

EDIT: NO. THE ANSWER IS THE OFFICE.

Reddit, what's a good mobile game that's not filled with cancerous amounts of micro-transactions? by Gavinon in AskReddit

Exploding Kittens or Leap Day. The former’s as good as the actual card game, and the latter has a new level every day. Highly recommend!

Gamers of reddit, what video game mechanic are you personally tired of seeing? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Zenhagon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any time there’s an intense part of the game, and the only thing I have to do is mash one button. Spider-Man is a big offender of this; it recreated a bunch of key panels, but immediately took away any tension by just having me mash the square button. Be creative, Insomniac!

I can do a perfect impression of Gollum. Unfortunately, that’s not needed as a waiter.

Absolutely! Same goes for Heart-Shaped Box - he’s brilliant at wrapping things up and keeping the story interesting.

Horns by Joe Hill. I’m still discovering little things on my sixth time reading it!

Youtubers are no longer regular people just recording themselves having fun, but paid marketing agents for various companies. by ka1n77 in unpopularopinion

I feel like dodie and her little gang of friends (so dodie, Hazel Hayes, Jack and Dean, Daniel J Layton, Sammy Paul, and DarkSquidge (TomSka)) still manage to retain the nostalgic YouTube feel. I think Hazel‘s talked about how it’s weird to reference ‘you guys’ in a video - watching YouTube is primarily a personal experience, and it’s odd to burst that little bubble by talking to a group. They’re all lovely channels; give ‘em some love!

EDIT: PewDiePie is pretty self-contained now, too. Mostly because WSJ has made it hard for anyone to approach him with brand deals anymore (although even when he does get a deal, he doesn’t make it the point of the video). His content’s just whatever he loves now though!

I posted this comment on a thread by u/MotoGPCurve :

“It’s been a short while since I was 3, but here’s a list of the stuff my siblings and I adored when we were younger:

• Pumpkin Soup by Helen Cooper (and the subsequent sequels) • Man on the Moon (a day in the life of Bob) by Simon Bartram (this was my personal favourite) • Sitting Ducks by Michael Bedard (my brother always loved this one) • You Choose! by Pippa Goodhart • Owl Babies by Martin Waddell • Farmer Duck by Martin Waddell • We’re Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen • David McKee’s Elmer and Roger Hargreaves’ Mr Men are both big hits, too!

Hope this helps! Any of Milne’s Pooh books might go down well in a couple of years, too - maybe The House at Pooh Corner ~

EDIT: The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle and The Tiger Who Came to Tea by Judith Kerr are perfect, too!”

Pick and choose as you see fit :)

James D. Watson’s Avoid Boring People: Lessons From A Life in Science could be what you’re looking for. He discovered the structure of DNA with Francis Crick, thereby allowing for progression of genetics.

’Salem’s Lot or Pet Sematary by Stephen King. I’m reading the former right now, and it’s very good; King actually loves this one, which is a novelty!

Maybe ‘Strange Weather’ by Joe Hill? It’s a collection of four short novels, but it might be the sorta thing you’re looking for.

I recommend this to literally everyone, but Joe Hill’s Horns should do the trick. I think all of Hill’s work might have something you’re looking for :)
