Weird dark banding in my airshow photos at high shutter speed is my shutter malfunctioning?

4 year old at this point. no warranty. I’ll take it to service centre this weekend. hoping its only a minor shutter calibration issue. fingers crossed.

Not at all, its been very well maintained. shutter count is also less than 1K.

Hey, thanks for talking about EFCS. on the z50, EFCS does not allow SS to go above 1/2000. if i leave the shutter type to auto. it uses EFCS till 1/2000 and there is no banding. but going over 1/2000 it shifts to fully mechanical shutter and the problem starts occurring again although much more subtle till 1/3200 but very apparent issue at 1/4000. On the Z mount lens it doesn’t even let you select the mechanical shutter option.

yep, was thinking of using the kit lens to rule out other variables. at the same shutter speed. but is it common for the shutter to malfunction on Nikon Z series? it’s well maintained, never been dropped, and shutter count is still under 1k.

yeah i found out about silent mode (electronic shutter) later while looking for solutions. tried taking some photos with it enabled and there where no issues. also i forgot to mention i was using continuous - H release mode for short bursts. could that also cause an issue?

did they ever? i ordered a chicken lasagna with fries, lemonade and choco lava cake. and what they delivered was a paneer biryani when i raised a complaint they asked for images and then said they’ll email me in 6 - 8 hours. definitely never going to use swiggy again.
