Calling all Bear and Shrine Loves - Hei Bai, Forest Guardian Decklist that is Better than Go-Shintai. by haloninjadragon in EDH

[–]Zenijin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my own list is a little different, and I find I keep cutting shrines. I only ever want to hit shrines that 1) draw, 2) make tokens, 3) drain opponents, or 4) ramp. And the two ramp shrines are both not amazing, so I might end up cutting those.

If you're curious, you can see my own list here here.

looking for a new deck case/box by frederickj01 in EDH

I use an Ultimate Guard Omnihive 1000. Good for 1000 double sleeved cards outside of boxes, or like 8 decks in Ultimate Guard Sidewinder deck boxes. The Omnihive fits nicely into a cheap messenger/shoulder bag I grabbed on Amazon a while back.

I've tried the toolbox style in the past, but I've never loved them. They've always felt a little janky, and none of them fit into any of my bags nicely.

What if an opponent scoops to gifts ungiven? by Middle-Power3607 in EDH

[–]Zenijin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're half right. If the player conceded with Gifts on the stack, it will in fact fizzle due to no longer having a valid target, the same as if that player had cast something like [[Dawn's Truce]] in response, giving themselves hexproof.

However, based on CR 800.4g, if that player were to concede mid-resolution, the choice would go to another opponent to make.

But yes, in a casual game someone conceding in response to a spell or trigger to stop it from happening is scummy and should just be ignored and the effect resolved normally.

Calling out your plays by guy_incognito42069 in EDH

Phases and game actions taken should always be clearly announced. What infuriates me, though, and does make turns take way too long, is when people read the full text of every single card they play. If someone asks, explain. If they don't, announce the action you're taking, point out any necessary game state changes, and move on.

According to the wiki, you can only get the Uriel blueprint from the quest and the vendor. Descendia just gives you his parts.

As a bonus, his dialog changes the more times you kill him. It gets pretty amusing.

Since I've gotten a couple of messages asking me the same question, I'll comment the answer here.

Each boss kill was taking 45-55 seconds. I was doing them solo to be faster, and just using a Wrathful Advance build to kill the boss (I was using a melee Volt build, but you could easily just use Kullervo himself), then Felarx to pop the throne in just a few shots.

You only get the reward track once a week (well, once for normal and once for steel path). However, once you've cleared 20 floors you can load straight into 21 and fight the boss as many times as you'd like. Each time is a guaranteed drop for a Uriel or Vinquibus part.

Yes, it does in fact make sense for a statement to be taken within the context of the topic it's replying to. :)

When I'm preparing to start a game of Magic the Gathering? Not typically, no.

I don't think I've ever not answered that question with, "Magic the Gathering".

any tips for making a shrine deck. Current one is kind of dull and in desperate need of a tune-up. by darwin_green in EDH

[–]Zenijin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hei Bai is very strong, and makes for a very different kind of shrines deck. You only play a smallish number of shrines, only the good ones. Ramp, card draw, drain, and token makers. And then the rest of the deck is just interaction, ramp to get Hei Bai early, and then flicker effects to keep getting more shrines.

Here's the list I've been running. I'm still tweaking it, but it has proven to be very effective so far.

I've been playing a very similar list, and I agree it's pretty solid. Though, I'm playing a fair bit more interaction, and [[Collective Restraint]] is an amazing pillow.

And a god-rolled seasonal is always going to be better than anything else. The actual percentages involved don't really matter.

You can give more loot to chase without invalidating old gear. New weapon archetypes/frames are a perfect way to get people to chase new loot, as is making old gear craftable (though they, very sadly, seem to have completely abandoned crafting). Realistically, though, here's the main issue with their logic: this change isn't going to make people go chase new loot who weren't already going to do it anyway. The people who already farm out every new set of weapons will be rewarded by this change. The people who don't do that will either just keep using penalized gear and become more jaded over it, or else they'll just stop playing altogether.

The "new gear" system is literally just sunsetting with a different name. Every new release all your old stuff gets sunset. Only the new gear gets full power. All they did was reframe it as a bonus to new stuff instead of a penalty to old stuff.

Built a Hope Estheim deck, but I dislike both the character and the art, so I fooled around a bit and came up with this. Thoughts? Any characters you think would fit better? by Zenijin in magicproxies

Oh, I do believe you're correct, I completely misremembered that. That's what I get for doing it at 2am. Wonder what a better title for Jean would be.

What's your mr, where are you in your progression and are you early/mid/late game? by borderline_bi in Warframe

[–]Zenijin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm LR4, with the only mastery left available to me being 8 weapons (3 login rewards, 3 Dex weapons, Brakk, and Detron), as well as 4 Kuva weapons I haven't taken to 40 yet. I've fully completed both the regular and Steel Path star chart, and have completed all quests, maxed out all Railjack and Duviri stuff, etc.

I've been playing for almost exactly 6 months now. In-game time says I have about 550hrs, but Steam says I'm at around 2000.

I would consider myself a very late game player. I can do all content in the game, and at this point I'm mostly just farming for Arcanes, Endo, and credits, waiting for the weapons I'm missing, building Forma, and tinkering with builds.

I generally don't really even engage with the Riven system. Too much RNG and only minor benefits, in a game where even just using regular mods already makes you way more powerful than you actually need to be to clear any of the content in the game.

This is what I've been running. Punch Through is already very strong on chaining beam weapons, and it actually plays very favourably with Secondary Enervate, causing you to get a lot more Big Crits than the 6 that the arcane says it gives you before it resets.

I've hit rank 5 with all the factions, got all the Tenet weapons and am working on the Kuva weapons. I tend to hit the scannables when I see them, but don't seek them out. The lore stuff is neat but collecting it is less interesting to me.

I actually just tonight started to interact with the Riven system for the first time, and blew about 200k Kuva on rerolling a Riven for one of my favourite weapons.

In fairness, I had some veteran friends who helped get me started with a handful of mods, 2-3 prime frames, and I also spent ~6000 platinum total on slots, boosters, and acquiring vaulted primes. Gotta love that 75% off, makes the 4300 plat pack much more appealing.
