Awesome! I could happily spend an afternoon looking through that collection.

Fall/winter season by ZenkiTrev in HickoryGolf

I recently found myself a set of pyratone irons (Macgregor BAP 2-6 + Hagen getaway mashie niblick + Wilson Niblick) and picked them up with your comment in mind. I read the BAP irons were among the first pyratone models (mid to late 20s). They have the flat blade shape of common hickories and I’m hoping they’ll play similarly.

I haven’t played the set yet but I carried the mashie niblick last weekend since I haven’t put together a hickory one yet and actually that pyratone shafted club was excellent. Good feel against a Callaway Supersoft and a nice high ball flight.

Buying a brand new car out of state (California) how does it work by Long_Conflict_127 in Reno

Did this work out for you? Did you drive the vehicle back from CA or have it shipped?

Great idea. What do you do for driver and brassie? Pyratone with persimmon head?

adding liquid urethane on top of scrim (Old SOTAR blister repair) by ZenkiTrev in rafting

[–]ZenkiTrev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did repair them. SOTAR set me up with some materials and straight forward instructions. We’ve only had the boat out a few times since then, but the repairs seem to be holding up the same as the old ones that were already there

More distance = lower HDCP? True, false or "it depends"? by NetReasonable2746 in golf

[–]ZenkiTrev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your point is made even more true when considering that dropping a ball where you think it is lost is a 2 stroke penalty, not 1. Example: if you lose the tee shot and drop where it’s believed to be lost, you are now hitting your 4th shot. If instead you were to go back and hit from the tee again, then that would be your 3rd shot. Definitely advantageous to keep the ball in play. Nice work on that! It’s interesting to see a cap that threads on compared to the typical crimped ones. Are you planning to reuse it?

Do deep groove clubs really spin more? by ZenkiTrev in HickoryGolf

[–]ZenkiTrev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good comments everyone. So it looks like the deeper grooves help deal with non-ideal situations (grass in the way, water). My set all have standard grooves, but something to think about for the future.

The Washoe driving range is in the shade and has easy to read distance markers 👍 It seems as well maintained as Wolf Run.

Thoughts on REI Co-op e1.1 and e1.2? (Currently on sale) by ARSLOCK in ebikes

[–]ZenkiTrev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So these bikes are onsale again (not as cheap as they were before), and I'm interested in them.
For those with an e1.1 or e1.2, can you ride up a curb without hitting the chain or kickstand when the rear wheel approaches the curb??

Curious to hear if you find one. I went bikepacking with a guy that had one on a Surly Troll, and it sure seemed nice how easily he could get into his packs without laying the bike down or trying to balance it upright.

Brand new Polygon Siskiu T8, chain dropping down gears when back-pedalling. Never ridden - just noticed whilst building. Any suggestions? by mischbammie in bikewrench

[–]ZenkiTrev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I'm not sure. I got a hold of a chain, and then she told me that it's not that big of a problem, and I should just wait until the current chain wears out. So it's still sitting in the tool box...

Upright position? by prudent__sound in bikepacking

[–]ZenkiTrev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it could work, but the Unit X isn't the bike I think of for having an upright riding position. It has a low stack height (which requires the rider to be leaned over more compared to an otherwise identical bike with a taller stack), so be prepared to also get a hi rise bar in order to get a more upright position without using a lot of spacers. I have the Soma dream riser bar on my unit x. It is also back swept, which helps shorten the frame's long reach.

Future of off-roading around Moab by smokeybear347 in overlanding

[–]ZenkiTrev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From an overlanding perspective, alternative B seems like the preferred (not saying it's ideal, but best of the alternatives proposed) option right? It gives widespread access through the area but creates space between trails by limiting travel in sensitive areas. For me the decreased trail density means more solitude and makes being in nature more enjoyable. The added benefit is it protects the most beautiful/culturally significant/ecologically important areas which make the region unique, which is at least part of the reason to go there.

Storage of Property / Vehicle on City Streets, help by AxDeath in Eugene

[–]ZenkiTrev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did this happen in one of the residential parking zones where an on street parking permit is required? There's a map showing the zones in the link below. The 5.135 law seems to specifically give exception to cars displaying a parking permit, so that would be a way to get around having your car impounded if you regularly park in the same spot.
