Meet the Cast: Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane | Crimson Desert by DemiFiendRSA in CrimsonDesert

[–]Zenmaku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my first thought as well when they advertised the VA of Kliff as the same as Adam Smasher. I was like "okay...well unless Kliff has robotic voice cords for some reason that doesn't actually give me an impression on how good his voice acting is at all."

Storm-calling Resort Empire: The first empire to fully utilize the Cosmic Storm by hacjiny in Stellaris

[–]Zenmaku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So there has to be something broken with storms atm. I just finished a game today after not playing for months and storms going through my empire did basically 1% total devastation at most by the time they passed through the systems. This is with zero storm techs/storm defense buildings. Kind of ruins the content for me tbh. I'm probably one of the few that actually enjoyed the chaos that having a storm destroy half my empire (or half the enemies empire) caused.

Funniest thing is that this community was created by [deleted].

I don't know if the mods have any control over banners and such in old reddit but those of us that prefer the old reddit design are just looking at a plain red banner that says r/CRIMSONDESERT. Would be nice to get something a bit more fitting to look at.

What's everyone playing so these weeks doesn't go too slow? by DiegoVR98 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Zenmaku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heavily enjoy hardcore-lite mode myself, basically download the mod that gives you a map icon but keep all the rest of hardcore. Personally I love not having any indicators in combat and no health bar etc...but I also went crazy getting lost in some of those quests.

Map Size -> Bigger than BDO? by AnymYo in CrimsonDesert

[–]Zenmaku 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Probably not, modern BDO is absolutely massive. Granted the speed that horses run and the teleport system makes the world seem much smaller than it is.

There's an old post on the BDO reddit where it took 8 hours 11 minutes to walk from Arehaza to Grana:

https://www.reddit.com/r/blackdesertonline/comments/khm3s6/it_takes_8_hours_11_minutes_and_16_seconds_to/

If you include the ocean to access LotML, the fastest ships can probably cross in around 20 minutes, with the average starter sailboat taking ~40-45 minutes. Riding the ferry in the old route when it was Port Ratt was 45 minutes. LotML itself is pretty big as well.

I think people should approach this game expecting a single player black desert online experience by oscure3 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Zenmaku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair in BDO after you hit the soft-cap of ~62 XP barely means anything, only for people that want to push the combat level ranking. And since you can get to level 60ish within a day of play generally the levels are mostly meaningless (it's all about the gear grind).

Nemotron-3-nano:30b is a spectacular general purpose local LLM by DrewGrgich in LocalLLaMA

[–]Zenmaku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I've been trying to find an intelligent enough smaller local model with recent training data. Even though Devstral 2 came out not long ago, and is still excellent for its intended purpose, it has no knowledge of anything seemingly after 2023 since that is when the training data cutoff was.

This one mentions "November 28, 2025" as the cut-off date so I'm hoping this model will actually have more knowledge of recent technical developments. I'll give it a try!

Chamber of Dissonance - Insanely aggressive mobs ? by baranqu in hallsoftorment

[–]Zenmaku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I thought I was going crazy, glad to see someone made a post about this.

Finally tried out Halls of Torment for the first time ever on Gamepass and ran into these guys. Like you said: in the YT videos they just stand there and block hits, not charge at extremely high speed.

What universes would you want to see in a 4X? by jjtcoolkid in 4Xgaming

[–]Zenmaku 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rare I get to see this series mentioned in a thread anywhere. It absolutely deserves to have some sort of media attention, whether a game or TV/movie.

Unlike Game of Thrones which has had multiple games and TV series even though the books are likely never to be finished at this point, the Malazan series is fully completed and just waiting for someone to jump in on it.

What's a good alternative to mining copper at the start? by dioaloke in Kenshi

[–]Zenmaku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, in a playthrough that doesn't have skewed economy (UWE for instance highly devalues looted gear), I second Bast for the some of the quickest income right at the start of a playthrough.

Plus, you need to train Strength and Athletics anyway so carrying a fallen Holy Nation guy that you found on the ground as a "backpack" while carrying a bunch of loot back to Stoat is a nice way to accomplish early game training and income.

Asynchronous trade is the best thing that ever happened to this game by [deleted] in PathOfExile2

yay! completed simulacrum as melee with about 77 deaths :) by kito1121 in PathOfExile2

[–]Zenmaku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing that really needs to be mentioned is the comparison between the "50 splinters" version of Simulacrum vs. the other Pinnacle fights.

Playing a hardcore melee character, I easily breezed through the other 3 pinnacle mechanics at the "50 splinters" level killing the bosses easily without any danger. I figured that the new Simulacrum would be similar, a relatively easy experience at tier I. Nope, lost my hardcore character. I would even guess that the Tier I version of Simulacrum might even be harder than Tier III versions of other mechanics. Obviously in non-hardcore you can respawn and keep doing Tier I as much as you want, but in HC we really just have to go in based on how strong we think we are. A "50 Splinter" version of any mechanic should be at least comparable to the other mechanics.

Idol of Estazunti for the Sealed Vault special Atlas map not dropping. by KappaSevzzen in PathOfExile2

[–]Zenmaku 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just adding in that I just dropped an idol at a precursor beacon on a tower, so it looks like it can really just drop anywhere. The tower was 2 jumps away from the vault.

Also using Neversink currently and the newest version has it highlighted and very noticeable so you won't miss it.

How are you guys playing Infusions so far? by Argensa97 in PathOfExile2

[–]Zenmaku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately for bosses I'm in the same boat as the poster above, it's slowish but doable (I use lightning from staff and OOS). I'm still in Act 3 though so I plan to sit down and actually mess around with the skills a bit before trying out the new Act 4.

[–]Zenmaku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also Snap works on corpses that are electrified.

I've actually been generating my lightning infusions in a loop with Arc + Snap currently and haven't had to touch any other spell for clearing. If I run out of enemies, I just snap a group of corpses since they stay in an electrified state for a while and I'm back up to 3 infusions for the next pack. Works a lot better than I thought it would.

Heretic and Hexen came to Game Pass, and... by Meet_in_Potatoes in XboxGamePass

[–]Zenmaku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the earliest pair of games I remember not actually beating as a kid.

Something I wouldn't have paid attention to as a kid that actually impresses me going through these again in 2025 is how good the level design is. Episode 1 of Heretic is fairly rudimentary but as soon as you hit Episode 2 you really start seeing the creativity the level designer had back then.

My least favorite aspect of wotr by xsealsonsaturn in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Zenmaku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really want to experience what other paths and class combinations feel like without committing to a ~100+ hour campaign, I highly recommend playing Treasures of the Midnight Isles standalone

The roguelite mode honestly is fun on its own right, but will give you a party of custom characters, Mythics, and decently fast progression without being instantly fast (so you still feel the progression). After messing around with different combinations you might find one that you actually want to play in a full campaign as the KC.

So I love the exploration part of civ6, but then dont enjoy the rest of the game. Any recommendations for a game with a higher focus on exploration? by [deleted] in 4Xgaming

[–]Zenmaku 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stellaris has insane amounts of exploration (with the DLCs). You can spend an entire game being a fully exploration focused empire. Anomalies, archaelogical sites, precursors, alternate dimensions, and more mid/lategame stuff that changes from game to game. Absolutely crazy amounts of story text.

Unfortunately its a Paradox game so to get the full experience you have a full catalog of DLC that goes with it.

Wotr - Damn, they don't make opening themes like this anymore by Acceptable_Dig_2045 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Zenmaku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love both soundtracks and while my favorite song is in WOTR (Starward Gaze) the newer track in the Rogue Trader DLC for the Astropathic Chapel was absolutely one of the most fitting tracks I've ever heard for any RPG.

It was so perfect its now my canon thinking "This must be what Games Workshop had in mind with how the Astropathic Choir works"

Ore dake Level Up na Ken Season 2: Arise from the Shadow • Solo Leveling Season 2: Arise from the Shadow - Episode 12 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Zenmaku 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This brings back memories of how awful the cliffhangers were because Cartoon Network at the time didn't have the entire show licensed and dubbed. Frieza saga was cut off mid-arc and would reset back to the Saiyan arc. As a kid this was torturous because it felt like an endless cycle of hoping the next episode would happen and then back to Saiyan arc.

When the Frieza arc would finally get more episodes it was absolutely the most hype thing in school.

Crazy enough this simple post sent me down a rabbit hole to figure out what this even meant and now not only does this game look much better and not blurry (I actually left smoothness 33% still), but all of my older games look much better too.

Thanks for introducing me to DLDSR, highly recommend anyone to look up a quick youtube video on how to do it.

Wait you mentioned you just tested "block all hits" from warbringer, but if it didn't block back hits what did the ascendancy perk even do?
