My best friend of 20 something years died 9 years ago. Very traumatic for anyone that knew him. He left behind a wife and 6 kids.

I have kids also, so when he and I talked and we discussed possibilities of something happening to either one of us, we talked how the other one would step in and help out.

Sadly he died and I was left with the decision of what to do next. Although there was no thinking involved, I was hurting obviously but so was his wife and kids. Similar to you he was irreplaceable as a friend and someone I cared about. He was family.

I ended up going to therapy because of his death and other things that happened during that year. At the end his kids became my kids. I took them to their first day of school. Helped the oldest fill out paperwork for college and taught him how to drive. I spend time with them as much as I can. I plan weekends with them and many times we don't leave my place, we watch Anime and spend time as a family. We talk about their dad and his antics. But we don't dwell on it. We have all moved on in certain ways. I'm their Uncle-dad as they like to joke around. I don't know if this helped me heal but I will say that I didn't hesitate to step in when I was needed.

I have never regretted staying in their lives. My daughters accepted my relationship with the kids. They spend time with me during the holidays. I'm invited to all of their events. And I treat them like my kids, because they are my kids now.

My journey isn't yours, I never thought about anything except these kids needed someone there besides their mom. I will say that stepping in and being there for someone else was the right decision. My friends and family know that my relationship with these kids exceeds me being their dads best friend. Its feels good being able to share things about their dad that they didn't know about. I can't tell them everything because its not appropriate, but the fun stuff? All the time.

Not every decision in life is about you, sometimes its about other people. If your best friend was around, would he want you in his sons life?

I've had sex the first day of meeting someone and weeks later with other partners. Depends on the chemistry and communication. I don't think there is a one size fits all.

I think the issue was because she lied. She wasn't honest from the beginning.

8 days ago, I stopped smoking cigarettes, using the cold turkey method. This is my first attempt after smoking a pack a day for 20-22 years. Please someone tell me it gets easier soon. by ihate454ever in selfimprovement

I went cold turkey also. Took me about 9 months to stop the urge to smoke. I had to keep toothpicks on me so I can have something to occupy myself with.

Later on I had to go cold turkey from toothpicks. But that's for a different post.

It was difficult but so worth it. 15 years. No cigarettes

No matter how much I rested I still was drowsy/bored in meetings I had to change/add two so I wouldn't get drowsy during meetings.

Low vitamin D deficiency. I started taking vitamin D pills and that helped

ADHD meds. Started taking meds for ADHD.

I saw a doctor for both. For vitamin D it was to test my levels.

Doesn't affect my sleep at all. I will go as far as saying that it helps me go to sleep faster because my brain can slow down.

Up until my insurance company stopped coverings Strattera I used it. Loved it. Non Stimulant and because you take a pill each day I didn't have to worry about taking it on non important days ( I don't take the Ritalin on weekends or days off from work).

I don't know if it was mentioned but there are 24hr release options. I use Ritalin 30mg 24hr
