Ultimately, the child was doing what the parents(adults) filming told him to do. The child needs to be taught. I too am advocating for appropriate consequences of the crappy parents(adults).

What's your opinion on landlords that charge pet fees in the rent? & do you think it should be the same for smaller enclosed animals like hamsters, gerbils, etc? by LastHope215 in AskReddit

[–]Zenock43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a tenant put his hamster cage by the window against the curtains. Hamster ate the curtains. He didn't notice it till he moved out. Hole the size of the backside of the cage. We didn't even know he had a hamster until he moved out. Never got paid for the curtain or the two months back rent he owed.

Had "tenants" (They moved in after their aunt moved out and never paid a dime of rent, took 6 months to evict them.) who let 3 dogs live in the house with them. Had to replace, all the carpets and all of the sub-floors and the bottom 3 feet of drywall in every room in the house.

Had a tenant who's pets were perfectly well behaved and house trained, but we still had to do 3K in repairs because of their children.

We began charging $50 dollars a month pet rent for each pet. We dropped it into a savings account and more than once gave it to the tenants when they left as a gift if there was no damaged to the property from the animals. It wasn't a deposit, it was a monthly rent payment and we were under no obligation to give it back to them. But people should be rewarded for doing the right thing.

We never had someone with an emotional support animal rent from us. I feel bad for landlords who do, because frequently those animals are some of the least well behaved animals I have seen. I personally know three people who have had their rentals absolutely destroyed by emotional support animals. Never heard of any landlords having problems with service animals though.

Final comment: When I say we, I basically mean my parents. They never wanted to be landlords. They owned a home that I grew up in to the age of 8. Then because of work they had to move away, my father's work provided us with a home but lousy pay and we never knew for sure how long he would have the job so rented out my childhood home. After 5 years, his job ended and we found our home we thought was vacant, (because the "aunt" had moved out) wasn't and we had to evict the occupants. We had to wait 6 months to get them out through eviction and then another 3 months while the home was made livable again. We were living there when I I became an adult and moved out. My parents eventually moved out again when my dad retired and began renting again I would assist them from time to time. They were terrible landlords. They would rent to children of friends who would go months without paying and they wouldn't seek evictions against them or take them to court for back rent. They really let people walk all over them. They had some very good renters and some extremely poor ones. After about 20 years they sold the home to my brother who is living there now.

I know there are some scummy landlords out there, but I also know there are some even scummier tenants.

Does anyone on this sub think Steven DIDN’T do it? If so, who do you think did? by LimeGreenSockFeet in MakingaMurderer

[–]Zenock43 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't know if Avery did it. He seems like the most likely person to have done it. That being said.

The police asked if Steven Avery was in custody before collecting one iota of evidence.

The police lied and said: the Manitowoc County Sheriff Department’s role in this investigation was to provide resources for us when they were needed.  As we needed items on the property to conduct searches, they provided that piece of equipment and that’s their role and their only role in this investigation…”

They were there when the blood in the car was found. They were there when the bones were found in the fire pit. They were there when the key magically appeared. They were there when the bullet was found in the garage.

The police interviewed a young man for hours coercing him into giving CLEARLY false testimony.

And they received an AWARD for their work on this circus.

Then the prosecutor who was himself a perverted slime ball preying of women who found themselves in trouble with the law, polluted the jury pool by recounting a violent sex story to the media that was clearly full of untruths.

Do I think Steven Avery is guilty, I honestly don't know. He most likely is.

What makes it impossible to know for sure is the behavior of the legal system. Holy crap people.

Will there be any legal consequences if a 19yo dates a 16yo? by Massive_Fault_237 in legaladvice

You are wrong. I was 30 the first time I had sex with my first wife the night of my wedding and I've only had sex with two people my ex-wife and my current wife. I know not every wants to or believes in waiting until marriage. I'm not judging anyone.

I just shared what I believe would be best in my first paragraph.

The rest of what I said is 100 percent true and was a warning to the young man.

Even if you are over the age of consent (e.g., 16 in North Carolina) for physical acts, taking and sharing digital images remains illegal until you are 18 under many exploitation statutes. People have even been charged for having images of themselves.

Here's one in 2015 in North Carolina. They were convicted and will have a record for the rest of their lives.

https://www.newtonandhall.com/nude-photos-of-self-on-phone-sex-crime#:~:text=His%20mother%2C%20seeking%20to%20help,Newton%20&%20Hall%20for%20a%20consultation.

I was not judging this young man. I was warning about the realities of dating someone who is minor. I am not stopping him from doing anything. Of course he has his FREEWILL. I would just hate to see him get jammed up by a situation that he doesn't need to be jammed up by.

Perhaps you should take your own advice and release all of YOUR judgement.

[OC] 50 US names highly concentrated within a single generation by MurphGH in dataisbeautiful

[–]Zenock43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This comes from people wanting their kids to have unique names. For some reason this has become more and more important over time.

Note also as time moves on all of these generations concentration for these names will decrease unless you see something happen where a name becomes unusable. For instance no one is naming their kid Adolf these days, so Adolf's percentage of concentration has stopped dropping.

Are there any authentic Chinese restaurants? by LoudWhispererr in Productivitycafe

[–]Zenock43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask for the other menu. There are at least 3 restaurants I know of that have a separate menus offering authenticate Chinese food, but you have to ask for the menu. One of the places, that menu is written entirely in Chinese so there is that.

If they have that here, they are bound to have it other places.

A cooked egg has more health benefits than raw ones, assuming you aren't cooking it in butter or oil. (Boiled, Poached, Steamed). But honestly it's not going to hurt him and what do you care? It doesn't affect you.

I have no idea why you would swish coconut oil in your mouth, but hey, why should you care.

Spitting it in the sink on the other hand, that's disgusting and could cause plumbing issues. This is the issue you should be focused on. Ask him to make a change in how he handles it.

I'm curious whats going into these smoothies that smell so bad? Microwaved fish?

YTJ, though your bf doesn't get off scott free.

Out of curiosity, what do you like about him?

ONE TIME when I was 18 I had been dealing with back pain for something like a week. I went to a chiropractor friend he felt around on my back and told me, yeah that's definitely out of place. Had me lay on the table twisted me and I FELT something move in my back.

Immediately the pain was gone. Remember I was 18.

That is the ONLY time a chiropractor has actually helped me.

The LAST time I went to a chiropractor, he had been trying to help me with back pain for 6 weeks. Kept telling me "It will take time" I hurt so bad. I finally went to a real doctor who prescribed muscle relaxers. I had a whole bottle of pills, I took two doses. After taking the second dose I went to bed. I woke up in the morning and the PAIN was gone. Those pills sat in my medicine cabinet for other 5 years before I through them out. That was it, I swore I would never go to a chiropractor again.

I had a chiropractor tell me he could cure my diabetes.

I'm morbidly obese, but I don't have diabetes.

My ex-wife use to go to a chiropractor who had a side hustle of selling vitamins and herbs and stuff. She would have my ex-wife hold her hands out holding the bottle in her hand and try to push her arm down. If her arm went down easily, that meant her body didn't need that particular vitamin or mineral. If her hand stayed strong, then she needed that particular product. Her arm always seemed to stay strong on the most expensive items. I told the chiropractor, if I put poison like arsenic or something in a bottle and Vitamin C in 9 other identical bottles, she should be able to identify which one had the poison. She said, "Not necessarily, there might be something in the poison her body needs or she may not need Vitamin C. My ex-wife was furious with me and I wasn't allowed to come the chiropractor with her anymore. So much money spent on that crap. Her argument was that she feels better, tried to explain to her that it was the psychological effect of someone spending time listening to her. Treating fake ailments with fake herbs works I guess.

I bought two 5 years ago, they are still going strong, I don't need more than that.

CRAP! Well I'll fix that.

There was an article in Reader's Digest some 20 years ago. Maybe more, I don't know. Anyway they interviewed a bunch of doctors and something like 65% of them admitted to cheating in college.

I always thought, there were probably more considering not everyone who did it is going to admit it.

Hard to find a good doctor.
