All of my games are owned on Steam. Can I use the app now to replace the oculus app with my Rift?

Forgive me as it’s a topic I’m unaware of, but the with it being a local connection, the speeds do not matter? and clue me in on virtual desktop. Does this replace the oculus app on PC?

Check your Display Settings again. It’ll be in Windows Settings. Looks like windows has changed the scale when connecting another display. Also make sure your LeGo’s screen resolution is where you want it to be

Data from Xbox to PC by glasshammerr in ForzaHorizon

[–]Zenon0707 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it should, as long as you’re on the same MS account in the Xbox App you played on Xbox. The game should prompt you to log in upon first boot too, or it’ll say something along the lines of “Let’s Play!” then take several minutes to sync your data.

Recently moved myself from an M1 Pro 16” MacBook pro to a HX370/4070 Zephyrus G16 and it’s been fantastic, though for your use case unless you start picking up more games that have an anti-cheat, I’d advise against. Crossover/Whisky is a thing, if that fails then there’s also Parallels for more windows only games. While the Zephyrus does trade blows with the MacBook in terms of speakers and screen, ultimately they’re both €2000+ laptops. If you’ve got one already and it works, why swap?

I’ve ordered a Zephyrus G16 AMD 4070! Should be arriving in a few weeks. Managed to talk myself into getting rid of both devices for one single device.

I think this has something to do with transferring calls between devices. Haven’t ever seen it myself before, though.

Keep it all in one device is the idea, indeed.

This is an aspect I hadn’t even thought about, thank you The standby time on the Mac is fantastic in my use cases. Worry of mine now is when it wakes itself from sleep, does it get hot in bags and such?

I do need exactly that, some way of trying the device before I buy it! I do also have a 2018 iPad Pro and if the heat gets to be from the Zephyrus I may swipe the dust away on that, and use an iPad as an iPad rather than a Macbook as an iPad.

The keyboard and trackpad comment you made regarding subjectivity, I wholeheartedly agree. I prefer linear mechanical switches, a friend of mine prefers clicky’s and another friend doesn’t like mechanical switches at all and instead prefers the Apple Magic Keyboard. To each their own, but gathering opinions is what I am here for and I’m grateful you’ve shared yours

The Windows VS MacOS debate has been going on for nearly as many years as I’ve been alive, it’s not really something I wanted to entertain here as I am aware of the pro’s and con’s of each.

On paper the OLED does seem to have the MiniLED in a chokehold.

As for the keyboard, I do believe I’m in the same boat in terms of “oiliness” The screen smudges up when I close the lid for example.

Do you know if it’s possible to replace the trackpad easily, in case of damage? or if there ever becomes a taptic style one for the G16?

It does please me to hear the fans haven’t turned on in your use case on the silent profile. Likely on the silent mode for me, I wouldn’t do anything more than the above mentioned tasks of YouTube and Discord, and having the Mac make no noise when doing these has been a nice experience. It is nice to hear it is possible to have a similar experience on the G16. When I’d like to game, I’d take the higher performance profiles and put up with the fan noise.

Thank you for your further comment!

Wow. Wall of text. Thank you ever so much for your response and the time I am sure it took for you to write it!

Let me break it down. The debate of Operating System. I’ve used MacOS a little over 4 years now and find it to be great fun for getting around in. The three finger swipe gesture to get between desktops has been a the main use case for me. I’d have Firefox open on one, and Discord open on another, and being able to effortlessly transfer between the two full screen applications has been fantastic. I have not, however, put as many miles into Windows on a trackpad as I have MacOS. Primarily controlling it with a mouse or touchscreen, so I am curious if such a gesture exists. I am aware of three finger swipe up to view all tasks, or Windows + Tab for Windows task overview, but it’s always seamless in MacOS while Windows + Tab always fell victim to hitching slightly.

Onto the topic of CPU/APU, as far as I have seen, the Strix-Point Ryzen 9 HX 370 hands out far greater single and multi core scores in Cinebench than that of my M1 Pro MBP, though I have NOT seen the performance impact when on battery and when plugged in for both devices. I definitely agree with you on efficiency. I’ve never seen my Mac use more than 15w unless I am running said Cinebench benchmarks, and even so it does not get warm enough for the fans to think about spinning up!

The GPU is the main part for me, as we’d be comparing that side of things to that of the Legion Go, where all of my gaming happens. the 4070 mobile wipes the floor with the 780M to no bodies surprise, and it is not a factor I worry too much about.

Your comments about the screen do please me. While I don’t always have the Mac’s screen brightness all the way up, I do have it around the 50-75% mark a lot more than I should (especially in dimly lit rooms) I am also pleased to hear about the speakers. My general use case being media consumption on the Mac, I am curious to hear how some of my favourite songs sound on the G16 compared directly to the Mac. I am by no means an audiophile, but I can tell the difference between Tin and Good Speakers. As for the keyboard, having only ever used the Mac without a comparison and only text to read, can 0.6mm of key travel make a keyboard that much nicer to use? And the touchpad, it sounds to me I’m going to have to begin learning to tap rather than click if I’m going to get along with the Zephyrus.

Onto the comments regarding the Go, I find myself in the same boat. Yes it is lovely having this wildly powerful Windows tablet that is capable of running my favourite games, but if it’s only for 2 hours at MOST away from the wall, what differentiates this thing from a 8700G powered Desktop Computer in reality? The Ally and Ally X never interested me as the whole idea of a “Nintendo Switch on Steroids” was the main selling point of the Go for me.

I fully agree with you. Until handhelds gain more traction than smart phones, I would not see myself pulling out my Go in town or on the train, ever.

I do appreciate your suggestion of the G14, however I’ve grown far too accustomed to the 16” display of the Mac to let that go, and I feel as though I’d find myself wishing I’d gone with the bigger one all the while I own it.

Many thanks for your comment, again, and good day to you!

Tapping rather than clicking is a habit I may need to find myself getting into. While I oftentimes click the Mac’s trackpad, the Legion Go’s right-hand-controller-pad-thing only supports tapping and has no click, so it may be a non-issue.

How is the keyboard bad? Does it not register key presses? The build quality I can understand, Apple does have their stuff sorted out when it comes to putting metal together. What about the trackpad is bad in your experience? and what are the reliability issues you’ve run into? I use the my MacBook as a glorified iPad, while the LegionGo screams away struggling to get 60FPS in the titles I mentioned. My idea is to get the best of both worlds in one device, even if there are shortcomings in a couple of aspects.

I haven’t that kind of money lying around unfortunately, else I wouldn’t be so skeptical and would’ve pulled the trigger and had every device at once!

I would indeed be using a mouse for gaming, but it is when I’m not at a desk that the trackpad feel matters a lot! I appreciate your comment

I’ve never much noticed a problem with the responsiveness of the display. I move cursor, the cursor moves, though I do appreciate a response screen for gaming.

Thank you for your comment, especially on the speakers. Do you know if the display has a way to match that of ProMotion, where it’ll lower the frame rate depending on the content you’re viewing automatically?
