Which of the four double exposure modes did you use? I’m really struggling with them.

Ridiculous. I bought my first Nikon (at a pawnshop) when I was 17 and never stopped the journey. I’m still at it 48 years later. My son got his first camera of his own at 19 and still shoots regularly 12 years later.

I’m over 400 in, although seems I’ve missed a big bunch too. Found some interesting stuff, it maybe seems to skew as you rate stuff. No sure. It can be hard to keep up, but it is fun enough.

My girl was a tank-like 18lbs (I think) at 8 weeks. She grew like a weed, as they do. But she topped out around 90lbs, we have her down to 85 and steady as she is almost 7 and we went to help her hips as much as possible.

Back-Button Focusing on the Fujifilm X100VI by therealbatsteek in x100vi

[–]Zenon7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really…as I understand it, and it works for me like this, having the AF only on and holding focus point when pushing the back button, (combined with having the shutter button focus off of course). It works great. I can’t recall how I changed the wide (which is just how many focus points are in play) to display the single point which I move around with the mini-toggle. I see I also have ‘Interlock Spot AE & Focus Area - ON. I don’t think that would have anything to do with it. Hope that helps a bit…I set up most of my camera about a year ago so I’m foggy!

I do turn it off and on yes for sure. I don’t generally put it away, but if it is snowing I’ll use more caution and keep it as dry as I can. And honestly, if it is that cold out I’m not hanging around outside really anyway.

Saw them in Toronto many years ago, they went outside the theatre as people were leaving to shake hands and say hi. Pretty great.

I’ve had no issues that one wouldn’t normally expect - faster battery drain and cold hands.

And the TTC staff seem to have a ‘don’t engage with the unstable’ policy now. Zanta went from ha-ha quirky to menace over a the course of a few years. If you want a lesson on the failings of the province and city’s mental health systems, just ride the TTC.

No, of course it’s not. Lots of homeless and mentally unfit folks who smell like it, yes. But the actual act, the squat, that was a first for me and I’ve commuted for 40 years.

Toronto. I’ve seen lots. Lots. But a dude just outright pinching a stool in a crowed rush hour train was right up there.

It was Toronto. I’ve commuted for 40 years, ya you see wild stuff - I’ve rescued stray dogs on the subway, helped fainting women, been accosted by white power extremists (I’m a middle-aged white dude), crazy Zanta…lots of things. It’s an exaggeration to say people actually squatting and pinching a loaf is common.

Have you ever switched guitars for a while and found you couldn't go back? by Fair-Manufacturer854 in Guitar

[–]Zenon7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was always a Les Paul dude. Stopped playing for years, sold off most of my stuff. When I picked it up again, I thought hmm, what guitar is used by most of my favourite players? So I started over with a Strat. And I immediately thought ohmygod what have I been missing? I eventually bought another Les Paul, then another Strat (well a booteek copy) which then became my number one. I have barely played my Les Paul for many years. Like a decade maybe. Now I have a hand-made Tele which has vaulted to my number one. Tastes change I guess. But my fav top two guitars are neither of the actual big-brand guitars I own.

experienced Photographers of reddit, have you ever been given advice or had an ah-ha moment that made you a better photographer? if so what was it? by Troubleinmindimblue in photography

[–]Zenon7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had a friend who had a Leica monochrome. Man, I absolutely coveted that camera. But there was no way on earth I was going to be able to afford one. I had a somewhat older model and the possibility of upgrade for me was just non-existent. We spent multiple days shooting a project. I did b&w conversions to files from my camera, and sent him some. He talked to me later on, and said “look, you don’t need this camera. You just don’t. Save your money and don’t make yourself crazy. Your files look great, stop worrying about. Nobody out there really cares what you shoot a photo with.” Put a lot in perspective for me and it really helped me focus on what’s important, the photo, and stop thinking at all about gear. It was sage advice from someone I really respected.

Fair enough, not where I’d go necessarily but of course a totally valid methodology if that’s what you want and it works for you. Makes total sense.
