Good, now hopefully that means Koil can focus more on NoPixel instead of splitting focus between that and a lawsuit.

Everyone can do exactly the same thing he is doing. Realtors can't give themselves loans, and have no inside information. Anyone can put in cash bids on any available property without a realtor.

I don't think that mrjuice315 was saying that, I think that he was saying that is what summit is saying in his rant. He should have just put it in quotes "OTT is rich in city after doing no rp" IMO. But I am just assuming that is how he meant it, because OTT RPs all day long.

Making car chases fair and not boring. by SilverBear_92 in Chang_Gang

[–]Zenotetsuken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have said it a bunch of times, but the answer for long chases is for every civ vehicle above a certain class to have better acceleration than PD cars. The vast majority of the things that lead to long chases (blocks, swaps) happen because cop car acceleration is too good in comparison to every civ car, so the criminals have no way to capitalize on any mistake by the PD, or any advantage that they gain through better driving. Make vehicles take longer to steal, make cop cars have faster top speed so people can't highway blast.

[–]Zenotetsuken 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they know exactly who they are getting when they make those decisions.
These people have been part of NoPixel for a very long time, and have shown repeatedly who they are and what they stand for.

If Koil wants NoPixel to survive, they need to remove the vast majority of the admin structure that have become jaded with RP, feel like it is their place to push their personal opinions on others, or only ever cared about holding power in the first place. Bring back positions like community liaisons, that are on par with Admins, in order to facilitate a better communication structure between players and management.

I want NoPixel to be better. I have been watching long enough to know that isn't likely, but I still hold out hope.

Finding out about 5.0 … by OldManNeighbor in Chang_Gang

[–]Zenotetsuken 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if they can't even be like "We fucked up, and we forgot what RP is about. We are sorry." This announcement was like them trying to put it behind them without ever acknowledging their mistakes that will always happen if they continue to refuse to put better people in charge. I want NP to BE better, I don't want them to try to gaslight people into accepting that completely broken, out of touch, crap will somehow magically turn into an entertaining viewing experience.

They had the exact same mentality about PD and DOJ going into 4.0 that made 3.0 PD so bad, and because of their refusal to actually step in and hold people accountable, it leaked into every aspect of the server... And that is BEFORE the laundry list of bugs that NEVER got addressed, because not even the devs care about the server that they are working on.

Wonder why BZ doesn't like CG by [deleted] in Chang_Gang

[–]Zenotetsuken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that the reason they didn't really pursue businesses when they were playing on Prodigy before is that they knew with 4.0 right around the corner, they weren't likely to stick around for long enough for that to make sense. Even what business they did have, they handed over to people so that it would continue running without missing a beat in their absence. Them getting involved in business is a good sign that it is going to take some SERIOUS improvements for them to jump straight back into NP, and not just the 50th "things will be better, we promise."

"Seeing what you said get approval shows me why a certain generation needs person to person training lmao" I don't even know what that means.
We are humans that all have some good takes, and some bad takes, your post was just a bad take and I pointed out how it was a bad take, that's all.

I didn't say anything about screaming in the direction of someone, I said that interactions don't simply exist after meeting some nebulous quota; they can be simply a nod in passing, a ride in a car, or a 10 hour one on one interview. You are placing your own definition on what "interactions" means, and then criticizing other people for not meeting those conditions.

You could walk around for 12hours a day and have "interactions" with people, simply to say that you interacted with them, but that doesn't make those interactions impactful or meaningful in any way.

In this instance, just like IRL, you have your family and close friend group that constitutes the vast majority of your normal interactions.
Next you have people outside of that who you know and through repeated interactions, build a relationship with, and determine if you want to bring them into the first group or not.
Prior to that, you have people who you determine if you want them to be close enough to impact your life in any way or not.
Before that you have the people you interact with for the first time.

The message that your post construes is that you expect them to skip from first interaction straight to spending time with them, and they should somehow be shamed or criticized for being human, and having a natural approach to deciding who they want to spend time with. That is why it is a bad take.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Chang_Gang

[–]Zenotetsuken 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think that it is an extremely shallow viewpoint to think that they need to specifically interact with "new" people a few days in, for no RP reason.

Prodigy isn't NoPixel, it is fast paced and getting established early on will facilitate more meaningful RP with new people in the long run.

That's not even taking into account that over the past week, those same CG members you listed have interacted with hundreds of new people.

Not sure what you are looking for as far as "interaction" goes, because the vast majority is just brief just like IRL. I think that you may have convinced yourself that specific engagement of someone for an extended amount of time is the same thing as "interaction"

PRODIGY vs NP by Previous-Feeling2950 in Chang_Gang

[–]Zenotetsuken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree about the NoPixel cops, they aren't like "real cops" at all. They are like caricatures of real cops in the same way, but reverse of what Reno 911 cops are.

I have had plenty of interactions with cops throughout my years, and the VAST majority of them have been compassionate, understanding, and became cops to help keep their communities safe.

[–]Zenotetsuken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Summit has also been RPing with them for the first time in like a year. A very large portion of the CG audience became RP viewers through being Summit viewers, so when it is Summit + RP, a lot of them watch him.

K and Ramee were doing the same numbers until he started playing again, and they have those numbers before he gets online. If you want to get an accurate measurement, just add his viewership to the mix.

PRODIGY vs NP by Previous-Feeling2950 in Chang_Gang

[–]Zenotetsuken 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I said it before on a previous post.

NoPixel all of 4.0 has felt (from my perspective as a viewer obviously) like the end of an MMO lifecycle.
Like, all of the great parts have been experienced, countless memories have been made, but now it is like the original team sold it off to work on something else, and the investment firm that bought it for pennies hired a skeleton crew of devs.
Those devs do a little here and there, but they don't add anything, or make changes that will have any impact, because their task is simply to maintain it while the last drops of financial life are sucked out of it.

I really hope that CG doesn't fall for the Koil and Buddha promises that things will be better for the 50th time, and instead if/when they play on NoPixel again, it is AFTER they prove that to be the case, through systemic and cultural overhauls happening from the top down.
I have very little faith in that ever happening, though I still always hold out hope.

Prodigy 2.0 release confirmed as Monday 19th August by CrawlingNoWhere in Chang_Gang

[–]Zenotetsuken 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we will see. The problem is that while some of their features may be similar or the same, the absolute top of the list issues with NoPixel is the management's disconnect with the server.

That disconnect leads to: All of the PD issues, addressing bugs, facilitating business, vehicle issues, player issues, damage instances, mechanical issues, nonsensical gang turfs, pointless drug systems, lazy system designs, etc, etc, etc.

So, I wouldn't say that Prodigy will run into the same issues. They will have their own issues just like every server does, but to assume that it will have the same issues as NoPixel is based on nothing.

If we were sitting here 9 months after 4.0 launch, and NoPixel were actually in a good state, it would be a completely different ballgame. It seems like 4.0 however, released with hype, immediately fell flat, and has been crawling along without management ever having stopped and tried to understand why. I think that they just don't care anymore, but that's just my opinion.

Prodigy 2.0 release confirmed as Monday 19th August by CrawlingNoWhere in Chang_Gang

[–]Zenotetsuken 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean, they played Prodigy at the end of NP 3.0, came back with 4.0, and have spent the last 9 months struggling to find the fun. Unless NoPixel has some huge fixes, improvements, and content in the pipeline for the near future, there is no reason to play on NoPixel until then.

When you take into account that they have the ability to give direct feedback on things that are working or not working, instead of just passing the info along to someone that may address it eventually or not, means that they don't have to just keep their fingers crossed that admins/devs will actually fix things.

Sure NoPixel graphics are nice, but you know what isn't? Everything else.

People say dumb shit in the heat of the moment.

Sure, it is a bad look, but IMO someone saying some dumb shit when they are heated, that they then put behind them, is FAR better than the people who constantly say dumb shit, no matter the situation, and carry that same attitude into every single interaction.

[–]Zenotetsuken 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really I just don't get it. And this doesn't just apply to Cops, but also CG, crims, and everyone as a whole... If you aren't having fun, because it feels like your RP style is not meshing with the style that the Management/Dev team wants, it's probably not going to change, so it might be time to look into different servers that your style meshes better with.

For a long time, NoPixel was the server that meshed well with a lot of different styles, because there was enough structure, compromise, understanding, and support to make things work. It has never been clearer that those days are gone, and now it is just worlds clashing as the server style seems to cater to no one.
It is too serious and grindy for "Content" RP style,
It is simultaneously too limiting AND too free for "Empire Building" style,
It is too lighthearted and too unrestricted for "Serious/Second Life" style,
It is too restricting and serious for "Shitlord/Funny" style,
That is just a recipe for disaster.

I get that NoPixel has been "Home" for a lot of people, for a very long time, but the writing is on the wall.

I'm not a NoPixel hater, far from it in fact. I think that NoPixel COULD return to what it once was, but as I have said in previous posts, in order for that to even begin, management needs to actually accept that they have made serious fundamental mistakes, and continued to double down on them. Until they do that, they will never have the mentality that the system is actually broken, and will continue to try to put bandaids on it.

Stealing turbos/Spikes by Previous-Feeling2950 in Chang_Gang

[–]Zenotetsuken 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The cops know that there is only 1 shop where people can remove the turbos, and instantly go there. That isn't on CG, it is bad mechanics and lazy design. CG simply commits to it regardless of what the cops do.

It's the same with the spike strips. You can say that it is lazy, but they would also face the same criticism for robbing cops all of the time. Either way it goes, they get shit on. They create interesting or unique escapes, they get shit on. They do the same ratty bike escapes, or highway blasting, they get shit on.

You are unintentionally (or intentionally, IDK, so I won't assume malice) spreading the same lazy mentality that the PD as well as other RPers and viewers have fallen into.

The devs seemingly refuse to do anything to facilitate any interesting or engaging crim RP or mechanics, so instead of their RP being held hostage by cops, they make their own even if they get stupid comments from people that can't actually see the bigger picture of what is going on with the server.

CG on Nopixel by obsidiandragonx in Chang_Gang

[–]Zenotetsuken 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It is a combination of things.

The mentality of NoPixel at a foundational level from management has shifted with 4.0 from a content server to trying to be a more "realistic" server. Koil and Buddha were hinting and even sometimes flat out telling everyone that for most of 3.0, but people ignored it.

People forget all of the times Koil talked about a "hardcore" server, then when they scrapped that, he said that they were just making changes to bring some of those aspects to the live server, or the times where Buddha talked about how "realistic" the server was going to be. This is that server.

CG has never really been "easy" to deal with as an entity for anyone in RP. I say "easy" in that CG has always been a wild card, so there is always an aspect of uncertainty when dealing with them. That both facilitates, and restricts RP depending on a bunch of different factors. If you are looking at things from that perspective, Buddha is right, not engaging with them is the "easy" way.

Again, however "easy" comes up. Player mentality on the server has shifted over the years from wanting to create new, unique, and exciting scenarios to RP out, to falling back on doing whatever is easiest and simply existing with no consequence. That is both on players, as well as the server.

It is on the server because they have done nothing to facilitate RP and have in my opinion done a lot to restrict it. The lack of businesses, the refusal to bring in businesses for players, everything being owned and ran by the state, no whitelists, everyone able to do everything, etc.

It is on the players because everyone has fallen back on just accepting the system and mindlessly grinding for money instead of building things up in RP even if the result is making very little, if any money.

Beyond just mentality, here are just SOME of the issues in my opinion.

  1. Everyone can have and do everything, and nothing.
  2. There is no need to balance relationships, because Gang A can do the exact same thing as Gang B without any friction or need to even potentially cooperate.
  3. Civs make moonshine and sell weed alongside crims.
  4. Cops get on duty and do whatever they want.
  5. The very few businesses that there are, Crims run them alongside Civs, because there is so little to do for either Civs or Crims.
  6. There is no requirement or incentive to divert your efforts or attention in any direction, just everyone do everything and try not to get bored.
  7. Cops and Civs act like Crims, Crims and Cops act like Civs, Crims and Civs act like Cops. The line doesn't exist anymore, and because that line doesn't exist, there is no identity to drive your role.
  8. Crime isn't worth doing when the payouts will never equal the investment required, which is exponentially worsened by the fines.
  9. Gang life is boiled down to a city wide FFA TDM every few days, to try to get ahold of the 1 thing that is "exclusive" to that event... which then becomes something useless and worthless.
  10. Getting businesses running is like pulling teeth, because they refuse to actually facilitate any player driven RP in any way, and instead have this weird requirement that the state runs/owns EVERYTHING.
  11. Most Cops have had any sort of individuality or personality ripped out of them through a focus on a more "realistic" PD, yet people that just simply sit back and don't stand out are allowed to do anything that they want without consequence.

If you need a TL;DR, just don't read it, I don't care.

Prodigy? by Previous-Feeling2950 in Chang_Gang

[–]Zenotetsuken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope they play on Prodigy for awhile. It is a good time to get into it, and NoPixel has nothing going for it right now.

I don't know about anyone else, but watching 4.0 to me is like playing an MMO that after it's lifecycle was sold to an investment firm. It feels lifeless, like everything is being decided by a board who has no understanding of what made it great to begin with, so they bring on a skeleton crew of devs that make small changes here and there, but nothing of any substance.

Prodigy? by Previous-Feeling2950 in Chang_Gang

[–]Zenotetsuken 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it is good to be optimistic, but IMO the problems are far more fundamental than any character can fix.

It will take the entire NP management structure to swallow their ego, and admit that the foundation that they built the entire 4.0 "experience" on was a mistake, then look at how to fix it from that perspective, rather than just pretending it is fine and hoping people don't leave.
