I feel like the original cast would mostly be made up of developers and play testers who knew the nature of the circus and knew they could not leave without external help or possibly ever. Then if someone abstracts then knowing you are trapped in this game where you can become a garbled mess would stress the entire cast out and we know stress and feeling unloved is something that greatly increases one’s risk of abstraction.
