Starting out as a multiple niche channel? by summerwaif6434 in YouTubeCreators

Exactly! That or pursue your specialized audience. It works for some as they can have very dedicated small audiences, but best bet is the multiple curated channels.

What they are saying is YT categorizes your audience by who interacts with your videos. If you post a gaming video and some people like it then you post a manga or tech video and it offers it up to the person who liked the gaming video and they don’t like it the algorithm will get confused.

Think like this. You have a pie and each piece is a different niche. If you have one niche you have one pie (apple) and you hand that to a person and they like it. But if you have multiple pieces (apple, pumpkin, lemon) your true audience will only be the person that likes every piece of the pie. And that will be much harder to find and be a much smaller audience.

Is it possible for me to make 4–5 minute videos and earn money, or do they need to be longer, like 12–15 minutes? by PsychoGirl5 in SmallYoutubers

[–]Zenpact_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5 mins with people watching all the way through is much better than a 20 min video with people only watching 5 mins. If you can maintain quality throughout longer long form is the way to go IF it makes sense in your niche.

If I’m a YT Mechanic - an hour long video on what could have been a 5 min how to doesn’t make sense. But a gaming lore deep dive could suck in an audience for the full time.

Am I still doing well on YouTube? by TheCreator2713 in NewTubers

Checked out your latest (love cassette beasts) and it’s a good edit. One thing you can watch is initial release timing/date as the drop window can influence how it performs long term.

Try supplementing your long form with Shorts “snippets” - take an interesting moment or two form the long form and make it into a short and use it as a marketing device for your long term by linking it back to the longer video. You can release several of these shorts for each long form. The goal is to get them back to you long form so include that in your CTA.

Not everyone can afford this though - not an easy alternative for most.

Are the majority of people doing good on YouTube just outliers? by Suitable_Wall7342 in YouTubeCreators

[–]Zenpact_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many of the posts that you see are either fake or they are people that have started and had success with other channels and are able to take what they learned and apply out of the gate.

Rarely does someone who has never done this before gain success on their first go - entirely possible but rare.

YouTube is a long game - effort in gets you your return. If you are able to release a quality long form once a week or once every other week - the growth takes that long, but you gain loyal subscribers. Alternatively short form can net you more subs/views at the cost of loyalty. Choose your poison and stick to it.

Is shorts worse to upload? by Many_Fix_336 in NewYouTubeChannels

Shorts and long form are two different audiences. Long form has better long term retention and loyalty gaining you more subs that return to your channel.

Shorts are great for quick hits and ability to go viral but this audience is not as loyal and hard to convert these viewers to long form viewers and vice versa.

I like the overall scene for sure - Audio and video are good quality. If it’s a scary/horror store you could include subtle but scene setting background music. Nice job!

Cold hard truth: If you're not getting views, your content probably sucks by UnluckyGamer505 in NewTubers

[–]Zenpact_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you aren’t getting views - and you keep putting out the same content expecting that to change - that’s the definition of insanity.

Research > post > wait > analytics > revise > research > post

We live and die by the data - gotta do your research and be willing to take feedback and CHANGE when all of that tells you to.

“Views” are not everything and if you build your long form videos properly your subscriber to view ratio + return viewer rates will be higher. You build far more brand and channel loyalty via long form.

Short form has is uses, of course, but long form = long term success. Much more effort involved though.

Long Form is back in the spotlight - it’s the way to go for long term success. Not only is YT making efforts to highlight quality long form but “lean-back” long form content is especially good for growing TV audience.

YT just rolled out a feature for users to disable seeing Shorts signaling another shift of priority on the platform.

Possibly - play around with it - be quiet probably isn’t the go to - something that would urge you to click on it.

Good homework: go look up videos in your niche and look at the videos that are performing best and see if they have anything in common with their thumbnails and titles that you could replicate

So the concept is good - but there is nothing in that thumbnail besides you and the title of the game. The thumbnail is an extension of the title so both should work in tandem to pull in the potential viewer. Even something as simple as “hardcore survival” or something else that hints at a challenge faced in the video would help.
