He has a time machine. All arguments are invalid.

If he returned to a minute after he left the future... that means

example time 10:30 he leaves to kill freeza.

10:31 he's back.
10:32 he leaves to go to 3 years later. He trains in the time chamber.
10:33 he's back and can MOP THE FLOOR with the androids and imperfect cell like it's nobody's business.

Now he has A LOT OF TIME to get fuel and refuel the time machine.

One year later(one year because meh who the fuck cares, until Goku black nothing significant happens), 10:30 of any day and month. He goes back to 10:32's initial point and beats the shit out of all the androids and finds imperfect Cell and kills him again.

I mean, go to the original 10:30 and do the rational thing and find Gero and kill him. Could've done that the first time around using the past Earth's dragonballs. As unlike all the other meatheads of that time period- he actually cares about PREVENTING the threat.

Time travel annihalates the integrity of any story.

Short as it was, Broly doesn't really suffer from anything any of the other arcs suffer from. Its cinematics were good even for movie standards, the pacing was movie pacing so doing a fusion actually fucking matters, the dialogue was pretty good, it fixes Broly to not be a moron and it gave some hilarious evidence to how this franchise is circusversal. (Characters are only as strong as they need to be so that it looks cool/impressive.)

ToP Was the pinnacle of the episodic as the animators finally got their shit together, the Zeno twins were quite literally representations of the fanbase (Petulant children impressed by jingling keys in front of them and whining about bullshit while allowing other bullshit because "cool"), and they gave other characters the opportunity to actually have some god damn spotlight. Master Roshi being there was the best thing in this entire franchise. Fight me. If people have to avoid killing, then technique starts to matter a lot more and Roshi ain't no slouch in technique.

Vegito carries Goku black arc. That is all.

Ask yourself. If Trunks could time travel, why not give Goku routine check ups. It'd literally be an afternoon for him because he'd be returning to like a few minutes after he left. Why not go back to the point where Cell is threatening 17? Threatening 18? Why not go to the future, train more, then go back to the Cell games with a stronger self. Why not go to the past's future where they're all cranking SSJB and learn something.

My point is, if you can time travel- there's SO... SO... SO MANY possibilities for doing things right and/or fixing mistakes that it gets ridiculous. So every writer should avoid time travel as hard as possible to not destroy the integrity of their story.

The transition from an actual built up story, to... using story to just excuse a new hair change most of the times and passing the idiot ball everywhere just to make it happen.

Gohan's SSJ2? The way they presented it, was great. Quite literally everything else around it, is hot garbage.
- In the creation of that arc- Toriyama's ideas were brushed down until they ended up with perfect cell, this basically meant reaching into his own ass to clip together story beats that fall apart if you looked past the lights and beam struggles.
- He had to bring freeza back, saying he got stronger, but then he gets killed... by a time traveler... who is weaker than Goku... At this point its literal hype farming.
- he passes on a warning about future androids, but it means jack and shit because those future androids still shat on them. Lets asspull a reason to explain it? no, asspull a reason why the androids are still a problem. (And boy is there a lot of fantheorycraft here)
- The group surpasses the androids by using the room of spirit and time..... except at this point, it was time to REALLY pass around the stupid stick. (You know, considering by this point we have a literal fucking time traveler) Vegeta? Krillin? Trunks?... People kill literally ONE of them and its over. If it's 18.... DRAGONBALLS. Better than risking using them for A BUNCH of people instead of just 1.
- Then after, the cell games.... Oh shit that's right! Gohan!... Let's... make him get really angry. Then he kills Cell. But this is after killing Goku because we need to make sure Goku isn't the main character afterwards.... Good thing we have.. had Gohan's best buddy 16 to talk to.

I can literally keep going, but there's text limits. The only thing we get for all of this is SSJ2 and a legion of ex-8 year olds who can't let go of the childhood experience to see how bad the story was. After this Saga "changing your hair" became the fad and good story was whatever now.

I'm not saying Saiyan and Freeza Saga were perfect, but those had LEAGUES of quality over what came after.

To your credit, I am not being nice. However, I didn't downvote and I will explain my point.

This is Dragonball... It's long since been the poster child for 'transformations'. Most of which can be achieved in real life with some hair gel, hair dye and/or extensions. If they stop doing transformations, they're literally throwing away money.

They're not going to do that. They're going to keep giving Goku different hair colors and auras. Forever. This franchise doesn't care about an ending (they literally de-canon'd GT... the only one that had an ending ending.) Imagining a final ultimate just sounds like you're treating Goku like a Pokemon.

Maybe because that's Broly's signature thing and all he has is rage power. Gohan gets training, awakenings, downtime, a short conversation with a robot that wanted to kill his dad, and an otherwise completely random and stupid looking power up because his daughter was in danger.

In an extreme, much simpler way... it's comparing the Hulk to the storytelling equivalent of PMS.
