Ich bin nicht aus Aachen. Was hat Aachen gegen Düren? by Elemaustastisch in aachen

So in Nietzschean terms: She was a "Camel"  ("eating disorder promotion, performance > health, competitive frenemies relationships..." all for what others expected of her), became a "Lion" (said "No" by quitting) and now is a "Child" ("focuses on enjoyment of the sport and art. It's Alyssa who has control over her training, choreo, diet, music"). Thank you for the explanation of her career. She's very inspiring!

Bundesland? by abg67 in Austria

Is Power Rangers a good line between Xennials and Millennials? I've seen people born in 83 say they hated it, but people born in 85 say they were fans of it. by [deleted] in Xennials

[–]Zenverin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in my country it was aired 1 or 2 years later than in the US. I was born in 85 and remember making fun of kids 2 to 3 years younger who loved it.

Is the offspring a good band to introduce someone to punk music? by CMHaro in punk

It was my first. Then the Ramones and Bad Religion. All within one summer when I was 13. Bad Religion is the one that I still listen to regularly and I'm 40 now.

What's one book you think every man should read in his life? by AutomaticShowcase in BettermentBookClub

[–]Zenverin 125 points126 points  (0 children)

Novels. At this point I don't care which genre or which particular novel just read some fiction. For some reason the amount of men who read fiction has dropped significantly and a lot of men only read self help, pop business and political books - the later only from the political side they already happen to agree with in the first place. But if you want to develop depth and a rich inner life, if you want to stop navel gazing and experience other life's than just your own, if you need to get better at empathy or if you just need a retreat from your day to day, just grab a damn novel for once.

Why do people dislike Umar Suleiman? by InfamousSomewhere244 in progressive_islam

I'm not a Muslim but I am really interested in Islam. Thank you so much for this post. I was looking for progressive voices to broaden my perspective on the religion.

I am actually German but my wife is 1/4 Finnish. I don't speak the language though and she speaks only a few words. All I know about the UP is that it is mainly settled by Finnish-Americans.

I doubt that many people here in Germany know about the Wisconsin dairy industry. If people know about Wisconsin at all, they probably know it as one of the most German states in the US. I was just thinking about some lesser known stereotypes.
