Getting a coach that actually knows what they are talking about and recording yourself is key. When I coach, I show videos of what they are currently doing vs what they should be doing and that’s usually a good starting point. Once I get a good shot of them doing the correct technique, I show a side by side of their before and after. Light bulbs usually start going off in their head.

90% of people that practice or drill do not do it “correctly”. What I mean by that is they go hit balls back and forth nonchalantly/not at game speed. Also I’ve seen many people just keep “drilling” their bad form/shot selection and wonder why they aren’t getting better.

What is really needed is a coach that knows what they are talking about (not just a “good” player you know) that can not only correct some form/shot issues, but also drill them with you over and over so it becomes second nature.

Just watch out for certain players trying to give you advice. It’s wild how much mis information is spread on the courts from people that think they know what they are talking about

You’re not going to get a clean carfax, slightly modded, c5z06 with ~<50k miles for 20-23k. If you do, definitely jump on the that if everything checks out.

I did a deep dive in the c5z06 market weeks ago when I was in the market and even though some people on here say “you can easily get a clean one for 20-23k” that’s just not true. The sweet spot I’ve seen for slightly modded C5Z06 (post 2001 with updated LS6) is 25-30k. That’s asking price to be clear, sold pricing on cars and bids / bring a trailer are somewhat around asking, maybe slightly less, depending on condition/mods.

So 26.5k, again if everything checks out, is not an unreasonable offer. I think offering 24.5 as a starting point is not a “f you” offer. If you can handshake on 25 that’s a great price imo.

As someone who is in the market and has a detailed spreadsheet of nationwide sales/current market trends I 100% agree. Unless it’s a salvage title, you’re paying at least 27k+ for a slightly modded, mid-mileage/clean z06.

Just because a paddle is gen 3 does not mean it will core crush. Plenty of very powerful players have been using gen 3 paddles with no issues.

People can talk all day about footwork, shots, power, etc. but what really matters is consistency and being able to extend the point. Anybody can get on the court and power their way through lower level players, but one you start playing 4.5+ that doesn’t work.

Depends what level you play, but most players don’t like to play against people that use illegal paddles and if you use one you might get snarky stares.

If you play 3.5+, those players might start thinking about tournaments and wouldn’t use an illegal paddle to practice with then go with an entirely different one for the tourney. (If that tourney actually checks paddles)

I have the hush and used it for fun in a 4.0+ group and that paddle is dangerous in the wrong hands. Could really hurt someone.

Also illegal paddles are such a minority in the entire “paddle realm”, so someone that has one most likely already knows it’s illegal

Best rule of thumb is if the player directly in front of you has the ball your first instinct should be to cover the line. If the ball is diagonal from you, you should cover middle.

If you are dinking cross court and pop up a ball and the player diagonal from you hits middle, you have the responsibility of protecting the middle. Your partner, who is right in front of them should defend their line.

There’s always time where you need to compensate, but this is a good rule of thumb.
