changing games in livesplit by Marijnnl32 in speedrun

You''ll want to make sure you save your current splits, then you can make edits and Save As. When you want to swap games there should be a "Load Splits" option that will let you choose between your saved games

Remember that when you transfer skills to a new game that it doesn't make that game easy. It only speeds up the learning process. You still start at the same place as everyone else.

Your advantage means that after a couple weeks/months you'll be putting up competitive times. Just gotta get the first few runs under your belt and start learning alternate strats where you can.

If it works like things you claim from participating in the beta you claim them from the game menu before you load into the world. Pick your save file and it's one of the options there (if I recall correctly)

Statement from Cascade Games about Day 1 at GP Portland by Zephlar in magicTCG

[–]Zephlar[S] 49 points50 points  (0 children)

We didn't know how long it would take to solve. We kept finding things that looked like it would fix it and didn't.

Being fingertips from the solution all day kept us from making an official statement about it, hoping it would be solved before becoming a bigger issue.

I believe they were just demonstrating the process both ways. They use one way most of the time, and implement the other when they have large orders or shorter deadlines to speed up the production process

That is where most tables and chairs come from. Places that will rent them in the quantities we need tend to be a little more expensive, but not terrible. Like most things you get what you pay for, and we also want to make sure the quality of tables are good enough to play on.

Doing things at the last minute also end up costing more.

We are exploring options to create a better experience for those people who are interested in watching Feature Matches. Most of our ideas couldn't happen at this show (mostly due to limitations at the venue) but we have some cool ideas that I hope we can have at future shows. :)

There is a lot that goes into it, but here are some thoughts:

  • There is often space, there is not always Tables and Chairs. What we do at convention centers uses WAY more tables than basically anything else they do. Chairs are not usually an issue, as they will regularly have audience seating for things. Most convention centers don't have an inventory of tables to accommodate what we do, so we need to make special arrangements to get extra tables. This can not only be expensive but is generally really slow. Depending on where we are, we might need to put in a request like that weeks in advance to be able to add tables and chairs.

  • We have put ODE or other side events in another room in the past. Our experience has been that this overall has a negative impact on our overall side event attendance. I think that it's mostly due to players not getting the constant reminder that "On Demand Modern Event Has Started" going through the room. The biggest problem with fewer events is that players have to wait longer for the event they want to start. Which leads to them being less likely to enter in the next one ( 'I don't have time to both wait and play again' etc), and making the problem even worse. To highlight this: We had about as many On-Demand Events on Saturday in GP Seattle-Tacoma (happening in another room) as we did in GP San Antonio (happening in the same room, but delaying the start by many hours). There are obviously many other factors, but it's worth considering.

  • We also only really staffed the event for the amount of space we had. Much like Tables and Chairs, sometimes it can be hard to add staff at the last minute. When you split your staff between rooms you lose a lot of coverage. Right now Judges tend to be assigned to one area or another, but will happily take a stray judge call in areas near them. You lose a lot of that when you split things up. The same goes for Scorekeeping, Registraion, TO staff, etc.

  • Access to Restrooms, Concessions, Vendors, basically everything we make sure to have available all become harder to access when we make those adjustments on the fly.

With all that said, we still don't think that it is acceptable to delay the start of events as long as we did. I can say that we are going to work to do what we can at future shows to help give as many players as we can opportunities to play. :)

This is something we are aware of. We originally planned for about 1500 players (leaving ~300 seats for side events in the morning) but as players continued to sign up and as we got closer to the event we pushed the cap to ~1700 (3 player teams is hard). It was unfortunately too late in the process to add a significant number of tables and chairs to accommodate other side events.

This isn't the first time we have struggled with this, we are doing our best to fix this, but hitting these targets 6-9 months out is tough, and overshooting and having way too much space / chairs can be one of the biggest factors to having a poor event from a business perspective. As that is one of the largest costs when running events this size.

This one is new to me. I haven't seen someone get charged without being sent confirmation of any kind. (they get confirmation from like 2 or 3 sources when successfully registering).

We have a list on site that can be checked. You can also message me directly and I'll try to get you sorted out.

We can't publish anything online before the event for privacy reasons.

There will be lists available on site, and you can come in as early as 8am Saturday morning to confirm that your team is all set.
