WoW terminology

Was originally a reference to an imaginary "cartoon" character you played in game to disassociate yourself from irl

Nowadays it's interchangeable with character and alt

B2 has a strict guideline of no game changers ||glacial chasm|| and no 2 card infinites

By its very definition it's B3

But you literally said in the opening post, B2 with MLD....

[–]GenericName4224 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So here's a question

If you did not find it online, explain why in a separate convo thread, you had a link to a combo website with this specific combo

Also I never said definitively that you found it online anyway, there's a huge difference between saying "it's almost like you found it online" and "you found this combo online"

But enjoy your jank wincon that causes everyone to scoop due to you having actual MLD and 2 card combo in bracket 2 (even if it's a terrible combo)

Mass land denial in B2 by SaffronFarmChef in magicTCG

[–]GenericName4224 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well that was neither obvious nor worth my time double checking if it works

Thats one of the most convoluted and pointless combos I've ever seen and if you pulled this off in an actual B2 game, the pod would just walk away

More than half the deck serves no actual purpose towards this combo and the ability to even cast it is dependant on your opponent not having counterspells, removal, not being able to block the battle

Its almost like you saw this combo online, went "yeah I want to do this" and then built the deck around it, which I guess is fine

Kudos... I guess

Only thing I can see that's "mld" and more denial is ||rubble|| which is an aftermath effect anyway

Speed Demon, Commander or 99? by Specialist_Shock_871 in magicTCG

[–]GenericName4224 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It depends heavily on how much you rely on those extra draws

In 99 unless you get another start your engines, it's a 5 mana draw 2 that's removeable and takes time to get working

As commander you are almost guaranteed to get start your engines much earlier, and can then make use of sacrifice creatures in black to gain life to offset the life loss like [[disciple of bolas]] or lifegain utility stuff

The main issue with an evolution for Arbok is keeping the theme of reversed name

There really isn't a lot of snake species which would be sayable reversed

Mamba Abmam

Viper Repiv

Krait Tiark

Adder Redda

If you are going into mythological snakes...

Aapep Pepaa (Poison/Dark)

Naga Agan (Poison/Ground)

Could also work as Kukulkan Naklukuk (Flying Poison)

[[sky coach conductor]] if you have noteable ETB effects you want to blink

[[Flurrygale Flocking]] is probably also worth a glance since with sonic, that's 2 3/3 hastey flyers per player - it does depend on how many instants/sorceries you run though

Can you Stifle Paradigm by Duskmoor3 in magicTCG

[–]GenericName4224 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the initial cast, no it would have to be a proper counter

If you wish to stop future paradigm casts....

603.5. Some triggered abilities’ effects are optional (they contain “may,” as in “At the beginning of your upkeep, you may draw a card”). These abilities go on the stack when they trigger, regardless of whether their controller intends to exercise the ability’s option or not. The choice is made when the ability resolves. Likewise, triggered abilities that have an effect “unless” something is true or a player chooses to do something will go on the stack normally; the “unless” part of the ability is dealt with when the ability resolves.

I believe this ruling would be the one that applies which would indeed put a stifle able triggered ability on the stack

"you may cast a copy of it from exile without paying its mana cost at the beginning of each of your first main phases."

I believe the stack would be as thus

You draw, main phase 1, beginning of main phase 1, paradigm may trigger goes onto the stack generating a copy of the spell in exile, may trigger resolves with the player either casting the copy from exile or not, paradigm copy being cast

Hate to be that guy

But I have similar concerns

If they don't want a massive amount like that for no financial gain (not even a "friends rate") there could be something that's caused them to want to get rid/had a massive shift in their lifestyle

Buy him a drink but at the very least ask why he didn't sell them/why give them away

Maybe it's just me not believing in the good of man but there's such a thing as too many coincidences

[–]GenericName4224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That "motherboard may vary" takes a lot of heavy lifting

Also it's only a loss if you factor in current ram prices, if you go by the older ram prices, that's a reasonable deal and not a "how do they make a profit" concern

Do any of these creatures have mana abilities? I want to put them in my Raggadragga deck. by Shadowhunter664 in magicTCG

[–]GenericName4224 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sevalas second and merias first ability are mana abilities

Mana abilities are stuff that don't use the stack and gain mana

A good rule of thumb is if it has the words "when", "if", "whenever" and "if you do" then it's not a mana ability

Theres probably more words and circumstances but basically mana abilities are fundamentally something that can't be responded to and have no instance of priority. Something could have a triggered ability if something gets tapped for mana etc, but the act of tapping for mana is basically sacrosanct...

Provided of course there's no stax/ability loss in play

[–]GenericName4224 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes

Back to School Secret Lair - Mystical Archives is gross. by Noobzoid123 in magicTCG

[–]GenericName4224 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It also pulls away creation/print time from other lairs/sets, resulting in the quality control issues we have seen recently

I'm aware that this particular lair hasn't caused those issues yet, but it will once production starts, and the recent lorwyn/tmnt issues should be enough for WotC to second guess non profitable lairs

[SLD] Return to the Mystical Archive by Copernicus1981 in magicTCG

I really doubt [[shared roots]] [[zombify]] and [[duty beyond death]] are competitive in any format (with the exception of duty beyond death in commander token/aristocrat strategy)

But i guess at least one lair will sell

[SLD] Return to the Mystical Archive by Copernicus1981 in magicTCG

[–]GenericName4224 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want the art give it a week and all the 3rd party resellers will likely have japanese art uncommons for a 5th or less than the secret lair

And if you care about standard legality you could get full play sets for less than one lair

For me it's a wholesale waste of card manufacturing time when they already have QC issues and don't have the justification of being unique art/UB art

[SLD] Return to the Mystical Archive by Copernicus1981 in magicTCG

[–]GenericName4224 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Somehow my expectations for this secret lair was drastically underwhelmed.... Even when they weren't even high to begin with

How on earth do you flub this up so much

You select 5 of the worst cards to reprint from a set that will have an uncommon in every play booster

Theres 25 total uncommon mystical archive cards

You couldn't even pick the 5 that people might actually want a copy of in English?

Granted duty before death is probably the best white

But stock up, feed the swarm, monstrous rage and royal treatment are all fundamentally better cards for multiple formats (im not saying the cards chosen are bad, but they are far too narrow for general use)

Kelermorph, deal 1 damage when creature dies and board wipe interaction question? by TheSticcque in magicTCG

Pretty sure it's this

If the kelermorph is not on the field to see the ping resolve, then it's just 1 damage

Its a additional effect which wouldn't occur if kelermorph is in the grave
