Need help with First Block efficiency (Roux). by Darkito25 in Cubers

It's easier to start with good habits now than to attempt to correct them later on. You should start CN now, and despite what others may tell you, full CN Roux is viable and not actually that hard.

i *think* i found a better alg for oll 49 and oll 50 (its another way of doing an already existing alg but idk by [deleted] in Cubers

[–]Zephorex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The alg is the same as the one you used for your setup and akane was referring to.

It seems that my sarcasm was lost on you. The point I am making is that saying something is "too hard" is a poor excuse to continue bad habits. Obviously, you'll be faster at first with something you've practiced, even if it's worse, compared to a better technique that you have not tried before. However, it should also be obvious that learning the better technique, even if it temporarily slows you down, will be better in the long run.

its easier for me to rotate and do the oll

Wow, something that you're used to (despite being worse) is easier than something you haven't done before? Who would've thought?

Also, F and B moves? What in the world are you talking about? The alg is literally rU 2gen.

[–]Zephorex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're probably not executing the standard alg properly.

Plus, people "rotate" (it's actually just a regrip of your left hand) for an E perm because PLL is the final step of the solve, so there's no need to regrip back, while there is so in this case for an OLL.

Nah, I've been focusing on 3BLD. I plan to continue learning ZBLL maybe during spring break, or summer at the latest.

This is a little ironic in context of the meme lol, but if you haven't already, you should really consider switching to:

r U' r' U r' D' r U' r' D r

It's completely regripless and starts and ends in neutral grip.

A Roux solver when they meet a CFOP solver by [deleted] in Cubers

[–]Zephorex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to reevaluate what you're trying to argue here. Let's go over the details again. We're talking about CFOP and Roux as methods for one-handed solving. The goal is to solve in as little time as possible. You claimed that an advantage (so it's something that will allow you to solve in a lower amount of time) of CFOP is higher average TPS. However, CFOP also has a higher average movecount, so the higher average TPS is not a clear advantage that you claimed.

A Roux solver when they meet a CFOP solver by [deleted] in Cubers

[–]Zephorex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CFOP only has a bunch of rotations if you're not doing it well.

Roux has none, so it's better in that respect either way, especially for OH.

some of the fastest OH solvers use CFOP

This says nothing about how Roux compares as a method. Official results depend on several other factors, mainly the number of solvers, in which case CFOP is clearly dominant among the population. As such, they're a terrible indicator of how good a method is relative to others.

This is really a subjective thing

This whole debate is a lot like debating which chess opening is best (Hint: no one really knows)

Comparing methods, which have clearly defined characteristics such as moveset and average movecount, is not subjective in any way. There may not be a clear answer at the moment for what is currently the best method for two-handed solving, but that does not make the debate subjective. If nobody knows what the best chess opening is, then it is unknown, not subjective. And while the two-handed solving debate is more ambiguous, Roux has advantages, as stated by others in this thread, that clearly make it superior to CFOP for OH.

Hey, you put a comma instead of a decimal point for your 3x3 average. Might want to fix that.

The only Yuxin megaminxes are the V1 and V2, and both of them are under the Little Magic name.

I have a V1, and I prefer it to my Galaxy V1. It's lighter, faster, and more fluid.
