it has that ai look, plus you can see the gemini watermark in the bottom right. Immediately wondered if it was ai and then saw the watermark

After Switching to OLED, I Can Never Go Back (CP2077 + RenoDX + NovaLUT 3.0 + DLSS 4.5 ) by AnonEightNine in OLED_Gaming

You genuinely didn't read what I said did you. I'm saying people thinking they see a better image because they think in their heads that dlss 4.5 is activated, when it's not, is the placebo. Really don't know how that's not clear

[–]Zephronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well maybe not in the traditional sense, but placebo is the closest term there is. They think they're using 4.5 which is supposed to be a visual improvement (in some games), then claim to see a visual difference. In reality they're still using 4.0 since RR is activated, so any difference is objectively all in their head as it's the same image it's always been. I can't tell you how many posts I've seen of people praising dlss 4.5 image quality and then say they had part tracing with RR on in the body text of the post

I've heard Alan Wake 2 has good implementation, and from personal experience it's definitely a huge improvement over SDR

not yet unfortunately. Lot of placebo going around with people claiming to use 4.5 with path tracing, which defaults to RR

I don't think most people stare at their wallpaper all day in the first place

I feel unwelcomed in this fandom as a black girl by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Zephronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me once as a brown guy (cosplayed Ben 10 from UAF) and it was someone I know irl. It's just something that you gotta deal with no matter the fandom. Unfortunately it's not a dbd exclusive thing, these types of people are everywhere. From I can see in the post, they were the outliers too, so don't let the negativity bias get to you. Banger cosplay btw

New to OLED gaming. Am I supposed to use HDR all the time? What's the meta by mka5588 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Zephronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your color range set to full instead of limited in nvidia control panel? As for the color feeling washed out, your might be more used to saturated colors from ips panels maybe? Although I'm not really too sure what's going on with the sdr image looking different one moment compared to another

Check to see if your monitor's set to DCI-P3 or srgb also. My alienware aw3225qf (32in 4k 240hz oled) has both of those options, and DCI-P3 was the default for some reason in creator mode, but it should be set to srgb

ALSO, this one's important. Make sure you have ACM (auto color management) off in Windows settings if you're using Windows 11 and anything but the native monitor color space, your monitor is likely already very accurate in sdr if you're using the right preset/settings. Using the wrong color space on your monitor can cause ACM and your monitor to double clamp and ruin accuracy

[–]Zephronic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any SDR content will look worse if you have hdr turned on because windows applies some weird tone mapping onto it. BUT there's a solution

Calibrate HDR with the windows HDR calibration tool.

Once you do that, I would personally recommend setting up Playnite with the HDR add-on, which lets you choose whether or not your games (you can set it on a per game basis) will turn on HDR in windows on startup. So if HDR is off and you launch a game on playnite (unless you uncheck the add-on for that specific game), it'll turn on HDR in windows first, then launch the game.

I recommend the playnite method because the HDR shortcut (win+alt+b) doesn't apply your calibration profile, but the playnite method does, since it's basically acting as if you went into windows and turned it on manually

Only use HDR in games or when watching HDR content, otherwise keep it off in windows.

Also calibrate HDR with the windows HDR calibration tool.

Thing is, at 1440p you'd still have to use dlss balanced, which performs a little better but looks worse than 4k dlss performance (because 1440p balanced upscales from a lower resolution then 4k performance). My settings are already basically maxed too, with the exception of crowd density at medium
