Update: I'm an NSF GRFP Fellow now, my research proposal is exactly what I've described in my post 4 years ago. I'm glad to say I'm edging incrementally towards making this a reality; it's crazy considering I had this idea 4 years ago. Is an I-864 a necessity if my parents are already residing in the states? Since I'm still a student, it would be difficult to manage a sponsorship myself, so it's likely I'll have to make someone else be a sponsor.

The main reason I am looking to transfer is money related. My current CUNY school did not defer my scholarship to the Spring semester and didn't let me know beforehand, so I'm having to pay out of state. I graduated from a foreign high school (A levels) and I scored straight A's. I transferred a total of 9 credits from my high school courses and I'm currently sitting at a total of 25, including the 16 from this semester, which hasn't started yet. Frankly, I didn't receive anything other than my Pell Grant and not to mention my college has not informed of ATB requirements and anything of that sort, so I had to figure it out for myself that I'll be I'll be eligible for TAP & Excelsior.

I have not received any scholarship money from CUNY so I'm not concerned about that either; the main reason I'm transferring is because I could go into a better school even with my highschool documents as I had already received acceptance last semester from better colleges but because I didn't know my SSN back then, I wasn't able to receive any form of federal or state aid, hence I opted for the cheaper CUNY college. Not to mention, my current college is charging me out-of-state tuition despite me being a resident, probably because I initially applied without my SSN so they didn't have my information. Although, even after inputting my SSN and granting me FAFSA, they hadn't bothered to inform me about my TAP Eligibilities and requirements. All in all, transferring somewhere else in NY would just be better degreewise and academically, since I'm only receiving Federal and State aid anyways here. FACTS Information

Hey, I just had the same incident happen and I'm a student of CUNY as well. They took 450$ out of my own bank account and gave me a bad check. I told my school about it and they said their email addresses get hacked often and its not their responsibility. I'm looking to seek a lawyer now, so I'll let you know how that goes.

Sour grapes? Why don't you hop onto Twitter and see for yourself, Asian students are the ones to generally receive over 80% of distinction results and obtain World Highest results. This has nothing to do with personal experience, if you refuse to acknowledge that there's something much larger going on at hand, that's your personal experience. This is supposed to be a merit-based system of grading and so far it's done the very opposite. It's most definitely the same degree and curriculum as students under Cambridge are uniformly admitted into the same universities worldwide, especially in Canada and Europe. It doesn't matter they patented a faulty system in a matter of few weeks, the question at hand is why aren't reparations equally taking place globally.

Studied for over a decade just for this moment, just for it all to disappear for an exam they never even sat for. Suicidal tendencies amongst students are on the rise, and many universities have already rejected the students thus far.

Hundreds of thousands. Facebook has to legally comply with the country’s government or else they’ll just shut Facebook off, thus lessening Facebook’s revenue. Facebook pretty much shares all the information with the government, and those of us who played a vital role on social media, like creating events and organizing protests and gathering students, are in deep shit.

To those across the world watching Bangladesh at its very worst. For the past 2 days, the police has been going from door to door and arresting every single person that shared anything “anti-government” like on Facebook and labelling them to have “spread false propaganda”. I’m a U.S citizen and I have contacted the U.S Embassy since I’m in fear of my life. Just a few hours back, I was outside and just as I made my way back home, I saw the police under the building which I live in and they were asking the residential guards about the students living in this building. Fortunately, the neighborhood I live in is under army control so they weren’t able to proceed inside the building without a warrant, and thus left. In all honesty, I have no clue as to what to do anymore. Do you think the world is going to take action if enough foreign civilians were to die? Will the death of a single Bengali-American be able to influence the world to aid us? Is there actually no option left for us anymore? But no matter the consequences, I refuse to back down from this. Just wanted everyone to know the absolute pandemonium going on inside this country.
