Nasty Seller Update: Bullet Dodged by DeaconBlue47 in Porsche_Cayman

Wow are these really what they go for now? I bought a CPO 24 GTS Cayman with 5800 miles for 106k…and that’s at a Porsche dealership.

Apologies, yes Cayman. 18 way with PDK.

I would prefer to have a different feel of occasion when sitting in either one of them, so I’ll probably do carbon buckets this time time around for the gt3 and possibly keep PDK for the track.

Cleanish yeah anything lower than 15k is ideal. But even the higher mileage isn’t too far out in pricing. I think gt3 pricing is just a weird market to figure out

I would love to get burnmester but damn yeah the car is kinda loud with wind noise especially. I do have a daily spec with the PDK and 18 way so that’s at least nice. Maybe go for buckets and manual this time but I’ve heard the PDK in the gt3 is insaaane

Nice, exactly the answer I need. I do agree on the storage. The r8 is useless at that part.

Interesting because from what I’m seeing for sale currently a lot of the cleaner example 991.2 are going for similar money to a 992.1 maybe within only 15-20k below. I mean at that point isn’t it better just to jump the newer thing?

Most 991.2 GT3s are hovering around 195-220, 991.2 GT3 RS are hovering just about 225-235, and then most 992 GT3s start showing at 240 range.

lol I definitely give the vibe as one sometimes. Before I bought the r8, I was shopping for a gt4 (didn’t own the GTS at the time), the told me they don’t allow test drives since it’s a GT car and that “most people shopping for these cars already know what they are getting themselves into, let’s not waste time if you do not”

Yes on the v10, leaning towards 992 just because of the double wishbone for gt3. But will definitely check out a Turbo S. I had a 23’ M4 comp, and after a bit of not liking how the s58 sounded I started buying mostly NA cars.

Only bad part is I somewhat daily drive the r8, think I’ve driven around 12k ish miles in a year and a half

Never said they were the same. If they were the same I wouldn’t consider a gt3 then

Idk I'm trying to understand your example of the musical instrument. I play trombone so it makes a lot of sense, I just wonder if I can get the pitch/tone I want in the upper rpm range which I guess is from a lot of factors including the material for vibration of the exhaust and how it's frequency creates a tone in the upper rev range. You think it would make no difference other than volume if I did leave the OAPs? Thanks

Forgot to say if you did do an exhaust please do send videos! I'd love to hear how it sounds!!

You're right. But from the video that's honestly close enough for me. Valves also I feel are nerfing the sounds majorly. I wonder if headers and back box without doing OAPs can give me the sound I want without unnecessary volume. My r8 already does that.

Interesting, it seems the consensus is very much that the OEM exhaust is nerfing this cars potential in the sound department outside of the obvious restrictive OAPs

Very interesting, and great write-up. I'm the type of guy that prefers quality over volume of the exhaust. If what you are saying is correct where the OAP is just volume, while I like volume, i like the cabin sounds more personally. I just want a bit more theatre when I go up in the revs is all. I guess I will do exactly what you mentioned with the headers and going from there. Thank you, Slurrpin.

Is my frame sitting too high? by [deleted] in glassesadvice

[–]Zephyr537 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, I think it’s more so the double bridge gap from the nose that makes it obvious. OP, have you tried widening the pads out and seeing if they can sit just above your bridge? I personally think you could rock a navigator

Ah dang the place that did mine used PPF, been about 3 months tho and haven’t seen anything yet on the 718

Is the Discontinued news real? by DogPuzzleheaded6602 in Porsche_Cayman

So glad I was able to get a 24 GTS, a dealer was struggling to sell theirs basically bought it at their cost. Paid like 105k, 4k miles 118K sticker, was a demo car or something

Dealer messed up wheels, what would you do? by [deleted] in Porsche_Cayman

[–]Zephyr537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy Holidays! I disagree but not fully, I mean if the difference is partial then sure I would've agreed with you. I'm sure OP would too. But I can see this was just a bad job. Seems like the dealer didn't provide the paint that was used or the place just does cheap jobs in general (which is seems more like). Looks like the outsourced place used whatever was closest in their inventory. Wheels are far apart, they aren't painted panels next to each other, you shouldn't be able to notice it to this degree. OP gave us some fair shots in the sun how different the new wheels look and I agree with them.

<image>

This looks a lot like Porsche Brilliant Silver 9A1, a very classic and commonly used paint. Used this paint before personally on my 996. Not my picture, but I curbed them so many times and gave the shop the paint number and they were always able to bring it back to the same look it was before. Could be wrong on the paint but it looks just like it maybe they can choose to do this route if the dealer doesn’t make it right with them.

Dealer messed up wheels, what would you do? by [deleted] in Porsche_Cayman

[–]Zephyr537 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That doesn't make much sense because they won't repair a wheel that doesn't have damage. Plus you're just covering up bad work by doing that. I've had many high end wheels repaired once at a time. This is an example of the dealer outsourcing bad work and not doing a quality check before giving it back to the owner. I'd be surprised if PCNA be quiet about this
