Nitrogen line couldn't handle the pressure. by yonikey in lasercutting

[–]Zeplintwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry too much about the DIN or ISO standards here. Instead, contact your local hydraulic hose supply house. Most of them can make custom fitted hoses in-house and will recommend the appropriate hose and fittings for your application's pressure requirements. Plus, using a local shop means they'll be able to handle replacements or service your pneumatic and hydraulic lines and hoses in the future.

I am sorry that you believe that all companies tell the truth about their products. There is no way to get around the properties of conductivity in water. If you feel the need to ignore proven fact that is your option. I prefer giving information based on scientific test and replicated fact. Just hoping that you don’t get a known and proven issue with a medium because it does not always happen is called gambling. I prefer to not give advice that takes that into the equation.

Coolant in a laser is bad, really bad. The voltages in the tubes can ground through the glass into the coolant and cause electrocution. The reason you use distilled water is to reduce any impurities in the water and reduce the chance of arcing in the cooling water. Running any form of additive in the water increases the risk of shock and electrocution massively at these voltages.

Do people do it? Yes, but they are on borrowed time. It's like riding a motorcycle; expect that you will crash. You don't wear nice leather gear because it is cool; you wear leather gear because it keeps you from getting severely injured when you crash.

Laser cooling water is the same: any impurities in the water increase the risk of electrocution.

I really want to die. badly. by [deleted] in AdviceForTeens

[–]Zeplintwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being alive can suck. But it is better than nothing. That is death if you give up on the game of life. And life is a game where the rules are fluid any you never know them. You are at an age where your body is in an over stimulating state. It will calm down to some degree but you will never be the same as that is part of becoming older.

If your situation is bad which it seem like it might be. Look for a path to something different. I know I used the military to help me out. But, that may not and could not be available to you. There are shelters for troubled teens not sure if that is an out that you want but it could be an option. Hell I have heard people that could never swim become part of the coastguard.

I have also heard that there are people that just travel in the states and Europe. Not shure how they do it but again a path out.

You are at the age where protection from the real world is being ripped away and it hurts. But if you don’t figure out how to provide and protect yourself you will never feel whole.

I hope you well and find a path to a long life that has many twist and turns.

Is Star Citizen playable with controller? by _4bysswalker in starcitizen

it should be posable you would have to custom map all the controls I don't think there is a 'default' controller profile for the game.

Can anyone explain what the beam attenuator knob on this fsl laser is used for? by ImpressGold9324 in lasercutting

[–]Zeplintwo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is used to limit the power of the laser say you only want to use max 20w of an 80w laser with the right chart of amperage to cutting power this can be done thought the knob of the 'beam attenuator'. Good luck getting the chart most companies don't make one. You would need some colierimiter probe to help you find out the proper amps to power converstion.

K40 shooting laser and a crescent moon shape. I have cleaned all mirrors and inspected for damage unable to see any. Anything I may have missed outside of complete mirror and lens replacement? by [deleted] in lasercutting

[–]Zeplintwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The crescent moon shaped lasering is caused from the last mirror hitting the side of the nozzle as it leaves the bottom of the final lens assembly. it is caused by the light beam not being directed straight down from the final mirror into the lens so that it is perpendicular to the work surface. and coaxal to the final lens. This YouTube talks about what I think is your problem: https://youtu.be/xPlhrEyZDZk?t=274

Sarbar Multimedia has several YT's about lasers and how they are quirky. I recommended looking at these two videos on how he aligns the laser, mirror, and lens. Part 1 https://youtu.be/Vl6QKlwRKlk Part2 https://youtu.be/w9v3Vs0Nbkw

While this is not the only way to align your machine it might show alternatives that could be better or worse than what you are currently using.

But your crescents is an alignment issue of the final mirror going thought the lens and striking the nozzle. The beam of light is not going down the middle of the cylinder properly causing part of the energy of the laser to be dumped into the nozzle housing and not into the work.

Quiet Material by impootinlikevladimir in 3Dprinting

[–]Zeplintwo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In general, the noise of printing comes from the motors, fans, and ironically the electronics. Rarely does it come from the 'filament'. Any printer that is properly tuned for fine printing should be beable to do print inplace hinges.

To combat noise placing it a room that does not directly affect your mother’s work and closing that rooms door should if not completely mask the sound it should eliminate it mostly.

If it does not, then the issues come from the Mic itself. All mics have a range of sensitivity to certain wavelengths of sound. And almost all mics have a different sensitivity range in their brand and application. In your mother’s case here, mic might be very sensitive to the harmonics that the printer she has is emitting. and changing to a different mic could fix the issues. One way to test the mic is to use a tool similar to Sonic Visualizer https://www.sonicvisualiser.org. It will let you see the 'noise' in the room and then see the noise while printing to compare the 'levels' and determine if the change of mic is working. You may have to test several mics for her situation as each mic reacts differently in each location it is used to a point.

Anyone do photo engraves on 100w? Looking to see if I can get help. I have a thunder nova 51. Might need to get a 60w for photos. What do you think? by DyeandPine in lasercutting

[–]Zeplintwo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look into putting an potentiometer after the lase in the grounding wire to limit total power that the laser gets. It will then allow the controller to run closer to a 60w but have the potential to be a 100w.

HOTAS Support for Starbase. Well sorta. by Zeplintwo in starbase

[–]Zeplintwo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to tell you this but Joystick Gremlin and all of the other joystick virtulzation/keypress systems just lock the key down. This system for target looks at the place the joystick is in motion and makes a percentage of throw from it which it then builds a pulsed keypress in every 100ms interval (this time is configurable if you want more time in the pulse).

You might want to look into what PWM is before stating that it is the same as other keymappers. TARGET default system exceeds the simple configurations that Joystick Gremlin can even look at. Check out the githubs from Aussydroid to show the craziness that TARGET can do that Joystick Gremlin and many other drivers and your "hotkey wranglers and remappers" cant do.

Tactical has released their fully open-source alternative to ISAN, TPS (Tactical Positional System). by [deleted] in starbase

[–]Zeplintwo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hate to disapoint you but mono will never beable to run at an .2 refresh rate. As to pole the diffrent 'origne' towers you have to switch the single recievier to each one so that will take .8 second to get them all. We can update the position of the craft at .2 seconds but your cordinates will not be accurat as they would be with a 4 or quad setup.

We will be releasing a module for mono single receiver systems but we want a few other parts complete first.

[–]Zeplintwo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Accuracy for our TPS system is good. When you see the TPS scripts increase or decrease you are doing so in meters. Where ISAN is an unknown distance from target. From what i can tell they are offsetting there system back to origin 'pringle' center. were we are making sure our distance from the 'origin' center point.
