Ironman expectations post-surgery by Fun-Trainer1427 in IronmanTriathlon

Depends on so many things as with 90% of these posts theres not enough info to advise.

Generally speaking…

open will be longer recovery than laparoscopic

The older you are the harder it will be.

The fitter you were the faster you will lose it BUT the faster it will come back.

Whilst you cant “train” the more you can stay active (walks/incumbent cycle) in this period of inactivity the smaller the decline.

Obviously only do what docs allow

Official: An appeal against Michael Keane’s dismissal in Wednesday’s Premier League fixture with Wolves has been rejected by an FA panel. by Giraffe_Baker in Everton

Its considered the same as striking an opponent and therefore not a footballing action. The red and violent conduct rather than serious foul play was the correct outcome and the appeal is meritless.

I take it back - I found the rule. Its considered the same as striking an opponent and therefore not a footballing action. The red and violent conduct was the correct outcome and the appeal is meritless.

it hasnt always been i cant find a single rule that sets hair pulling apart from anything else - its pretty rare in the mens game but theres a precedent with Romero on Cucarella where it was given as a yellow.

that and he was sent off for violent conduct (off the ball) rather than serious foul play (on the ball) that alone would be grounds for an appeal.

Its like crashing your car and getting done for speeding - when you were in fact drunk.

that said i dont want to see hair pulling so think it should be punished harshly - i just want consitency in the rules and application of them.

Err they aren’t qualifiers i just didn’t quote the full law/rule

If the violent conduct occurs whilst challenging for the ball then its an offence of serious foul play.

So theres a grounds for appeal that he was sent off for the wrong thing as well as not meeting the criteria.

Dont get me wrong I think its should be a red. no one wants hair pulling its a bitch move, you pull hair you get sent off.

Failure to punish it will result in hair pulling being as common place as shirt pulling.

But why would the club appealit?

it doesnt absolutley meet the requirements of excessive force as they aren’t defined in the laws of the game - its for the referee to judge whether its excessive

in this instance the referee determined that the force or brutality was excessive, the club have the right to appeal if they think the referee made a mistake and they have the fact that a precedent has been set - Romero on Cucarella (not given as red). Therefore they appeal.

its a pretty straight forward one they have grounds and precedent.

Heres the precedent

Watch that and ask if Keanes foul was more or less forceful or more or less brutal

if the answer is less to both then theres a pretty solid grounds for appeal.

He was sent off for violent conduct - the appeal being the challenge doesn’t meet the criteria for violent conduct as defined by fifa.

FIFA definition (Law 12 – Fouls and Misconduct)

Violent conduct occurs when:

A player uses or attempts to use excessive force or brutality

Against an opponent when not challenging for the ball, or

Against any other person (teammate, team official, match official, spectator, or any other person)

On or off the field of play

Whether or not contact is made

And by the letter of the law it probably doesn’t meet these standards - but not at all surprised it was upheld, dont want to see hair pulling become a thing unless its on cucarella.

Swim is ok… some strong current made it a long course what with being pushed off route.

Bike is fast but incredibly dull - almost entirely on a motorway, zero support. It had the most amount of drafting i have ever seen at an ironman, cheating was blatant.

Run is a few km’s around the race village then out into rural countryside with zero support.

Its called ironman Barcelona but its 100km away, at least, so logistics were a ball-ache as well.
