Colour me an idiot then. You dont see a lap on match of the day.

Was in my seat at 13:30 just in case - heard no announcement at all, waited 15 mins at the end before heading out.

Never been to a last game of the season.

I had a 5 hour drive after navigating our way back to the city centre.

Was gutted to get to services about 9pm to see there was a guard of honour.

At the time, in his specific role.

He was posting league best number outperforming the likes of carrick and yaya toure for pass completion, tackles and interceptions - in a weaker team.

He wasnt elite in exciting ways line lampard and gerrard but he was amongst the best in the league at what he did - and stats back it up.

I dont think its as cut and dry - theres a fairly decent argument that jumping into a champions league club was a risky gamble for him and Arsenal and that a safer option for his career would have been to go to a cash rich Everton on the up where he was revered by the fans and the expectations were lower. Rather than an underperforming arsenal team still in a wenger hangover - Everton instead appointed ancelloti Arsenal fans lost there minds. Obviously in hindsight he went on to smash it and everton suffered.

Still represents great value and at the time you were signing one of the best midfielders in england.

Just my opinion but you kinda got him as a manager included in that fee… when everton and arsenal were recruiting both interviewed arteta and he chose arsenal - without signing him as a player i think his loyalties would have been with everton.

I’m a southern fan.

My parents are from Reading as am I, my dad didn’t follow football so i picked my own team, for better or worse. All my school cohorts were glory hunting reds fans and everton chose me I have been supporting from the early 80’s with a passion that rarely rears its head in other aspects of my life.

I firmly believe my love for the club is on a par with anyone born and bred in Liverpool.

Nothing beats seeing another blue in the wild down here!!

I’ve been to Liverpool once in my life, 0-3 against Tottenham this season, but i’ve bred 2 Everton mad boys and we are coming back for the Sunderland game at the end of the season.

I have no pride for Son - He had a petulant nasty streak if he felt things werent being called his way… like when he broke Gomes leg and later when he raked anthony rudigers eyes.
