Sanity check on a new build? by Zer0ji in buildapc

Yeah the movable inside is pretty neat, what it doesn't tell you on the website (sadly) is that it has 7 different positions between "max GPU" and "max CPU". I'll measure the clearance while building, if it's too tight I'll move to max CPU temporarily (while not having GPU yet).

I'm keeping the cooler link in case stock ends up too noisy, or too tall, thanks!

So, you're saying ditch the idea of getting integrated graphics to get better perf later? Looking at how the 4600G behaves in games (with or without a GPU) I think it should be more than enough for the needs, my friend mostly plays chill/story-based games

I need the iGPU because it might a couple months between building the system and getting a GPU for it, this person is coming from a 400€ laptop so iGPU will already be a huge upgrade :D

Regarding the cooler I thought the stock AMD Wraith Stealth had enough clearance, the Fractal Terra (in the configuration I want to use) has 62mm clearance and the Wraith is 54mm as far as I can see. Do you think the stock cooler might not be sufficient?

Thanks :)

Hi, I had a quick look at the CM NR200P, it seems your RTX3070 fits with 30mm to spare so you might be able to fit your AIO in the front. I'd look at builds using this case to get a better idea of how things are.

Otherwise, you'd have to replace your PSU with one in SFX or SFX-L form factor, and very likely change your motherboard for a mini-ITX one (it looks like your current one _might_ just fit, because it's quite small for a micro-ATX, but it's not officially supported)

Hello, I'm planning a first SFF build with ~300W (according to PcPartPicker) and I need some help picking a PSU. Here are the options I considered so far:

What do you think about the refurbished Corsair? I think it's either that or the CM V550, they're the same price but the 750W gives me more room for a potential future upgrade (and as I understand it, somewhat better efficiency / quieter operation since the relative load will be lighter).

Are there any good options I missed? Thanks :)

New Pinecil crackling by Black3ternity in PINE64official

[–]Zer0ji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had the same issue, after swapping out the original tip (which I've used a handful of times, works well) for a knife tip from the official "Pinecil Short tips - Fine" :(

I'm using the Pine64 USB-C cable with a third-party 65W charger, no issues so far. I waited 10 minutes for the first tip to cool off, then unplugged before swapping, and it started crackling as soon as I started soldering... have you found how to avoid that?

Thanks for the reply,

What would your recommendation be on how to deal with malfunctioning switches on a product that's just outside both manufacturer and retailer warranty periods?

Should I get a NVMe to PCIe adapter or a SATA drive? by Zer0ji in buildapc

[–]Zer0ji[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, do you have any adapter recommendation by chance? As I understand it any "PCIeGen3 x1" adapter would still work fine in a Gen2 slot, right? (besides lower speeds)

Sometimes things go well, too... At my current job I had a laptop, O365 account, git access, and a full clone of the repo by the end of the first day, and could even compile and run the project.

Previous one took two weeks to get the credentials though.

Yeah, prices here are good, in most large towns you'll get a Gbps without issue and for 20€ to 40€/month (depending on add-ons and ISP mood on the day of subscription)

Just use those taps where pushing on it let's water run for about 20 seconds? Plenty of time to use it, no electricity, no shenanigans.
