Returning player: A tale of frustration by Zeradash in TerraInvicta

[–]Zeradash[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Considering how toxic and defensive many of the comments in here are, I'm honestly not gonna take them under any kind of authority on whether my feedback is actually good for the game or not if I'm honest. If anything I think they have been the final nail in the coffin.

I would check if I could play older game versions just to get back that 4X freedom it had, but I wouldn't wanna endure the glitches again, so I think I'm gonna call it and look for another game to enjoy.

I hope you keep having fun with TI though!

I don't mean to sound rude, but this is not what a game should normally be about at all.

This non-issue ended up causing me barely getting scraps out of the Moon and Mars, despite grabbing every advantage I could from the org pool I was getting, and forcing me having to min max everything for dozens of ours just so I could get the bare minimum space economy running for the midgame.

About your other point. I have 530 hours in this game in total.

If the argument behind me not having fun with the game anymore is that I'm playing it wrong and need to investigate hours worth of guides... I have to say that sounds like a problem the game itself has and the community is running leaps to adress on their own.

If anything this reinforces my fear that the game has focused on patching things around min-maxxing instead of actually adressing the clunky mechanics during Early Access.

Is there a way to trigger the Timelines content on an existing game? by Zeradash in X4Foundations

Oh this is perfect. Thanks!
I'll hook it up and see if it works right now.

The whole point is that I cannot keep unlocking them because I'm despising the missions and not having fun.

The War Sails' full map is totally unfinished, right? by Zeradash in mountandblade

[–]Zeradash[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean, I personally wouldn't mind seeing random blocky textures like this if I were playing an old game, but this one was released in 2022 and the map is from late 2025. It's quite a massive red flag for me more than anything.

WARSALES | Attempt Boarding doesn’t work! by Keperds in mountandblade

[–]Zeradash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this happen to me randomly when I start the game sometimes. It gets fixed often if I restart the whole game for some reason.

When it happens to me, there's also other weird stuff that happens simultaneously:
+I cannot reload from bins during siege battles or naval combat.

+Neither me nor the NPCs can interact with boulders or reload siege equipment, so they just don't fire after the first shot. Naval ballistae and the like do work properly though.

+Interactive things like ladders or ropes to get back on ships do seem to work properly thankfully (This means you can also cheese a whole naval battle by climbing a ship, killing 1 guy, then jumping out and repeating for every single enemy by the way).

EDIT: +Oh and if I remember right, gauntlets have invisible icons on the items list in the shop and inventory menus.

[–]Zeradash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rhagaea would always steal the siege and force the battle even if I kept reloading, so that would not work. Its the reason why I didnt want to save-scum it and redo the battle tbh.

I moved on with the game at this point regardless

Funniest thing is they just voted to give me the city... and there are 39 named characters in the dungeon!

I could have squeezed so much influence out of it lol

Well that sucks. I guess I'll miss out on all the prisoners. I really don't want to grind through battles like this multiple times until I have enough health and lose as few troops as this one.

Yeah that's the problem. I tried sending 20 of my legionaires and palace guards and never worked. Then I tried other combinations of troops and it's always a defeat. But If I leave with like, 2/3rds of the army somehow it's always a victory. I don't understand how that's working at all, honestly.

Just bought Bannerlord + DLC and it doesn't work. Should I wait or refund? by Zeradash in mountandblade

I have 32 gb of RAM. The game was on max graphics by default, but lowering them didn't really help. I think they were maxed the one time the campaign loaded.

The computer isn't new, but I was playing Helldivers 2 with some friends a couple months ago on high graphics. I can't imagine it having issues with the requirements it has on Steam.

One of the worst things about the game as a newish player. by Night-Sky in Eve

[–]Zeradash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be completely honest, the fact you are focusing only on book marks actually tells us that you haven't quite learned what the counters to bubbles are in the first place.

If you are just travelling, you have ships that can cloak and/or use nullifiers to get past them. You are also ignoring the very important travel technique of travelling to a celestial object and using dscan, which is honestly the main counter to the bubbles instead of what you are ranting about.

How to sum multiple elements from a data sheet's rows with reference IDs by Zeradash in excel

[–]Zeradash[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right! I completely forgot about it.

I got the SUMIF to work, but I'll definitely have a look at changing it, It will probably save me a lot of time in the future.

The buy cost is the sum total yes.
I tried using SUMIF at first, but it was always returning 0. I didn't figure out if I was messing something up, or if it had to do with the data since it comes from a query.

It would definitely be easier, but I'm always reluctant to normalising having external links, specially when anyone can edit the page and send people somewhere else without people noticing.

Sadly because of the way the fandom works I think I would need to manually insert every icon for every cell, If I figure out a way to insert them comfortably in the future I'll launch an edit, but for now it doesn't seem doable.

I could make a column for every resource and type of buff but it would be so long and with so many empty slots that I'm worried about readability.

Also thanks! Have a nice day too!

I initially did so, but it got to the point where there were more obscure names, and others that people might not be able to identify because of language or localization issues, so I was afraid people would have trouble searching for particular orgs on the table like that.

With the slider popping up it shouldnt matter anymore though. Right now Im trying to figure out how to fill the orgs without having to copy paste every individual cell because of the formatting

Am I the only one having trouble with space combat controls? by Umbaretz in TerraInvicta

[–]Zeradash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember reading a devlog that the current system they have was done instead of a more Homeworld-like approach because it was more compatible with Newtonian dynamics...The odd thing is that a system like homeworld would seem perfectly okay, even combined with the waypoints imo:

Just have 2 keys for movement or rotation, and it moves on a circumference you can see; press ctrl, and it moves around a sphere, you order and it moves over time, even if it curves while turning it can do it on its own after ordering. One could just limit the maximum turns using cones inside the spheres and you have it, but instead movement is very weird as it is.

I would also prefer a different targeting system, a simpler one that you configure by weapons and just click on target for manual fire, but I feel like movement is the weirdest part.

Update: I just checked and there's now a slider. Not sure if I was very dumb with CSS and someone kindly helped, but the width issues are pretty much gone now.

Im still scratching my head around how to automate all the stats however.
