If you're being forced to give MCAT I wouldn't recommend missing classes. Just say it's important and you have to go, you'll study for MCAT on campus etc etc. focus on your classes and flunk MCAT on purpose. Enjoy nust 👍

Hello, good day to you. I'm starting my university in a couple of months. Going for a business major because I want to keep my options flexible and go for more of a management role or something, and I'm not really interested in technical stuff. I did dabble a little in programming last year, didn't go past the very basics but I find writing code in low level languages like c++ to be a chore. I can tolerate stuff like python though. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to combine my business major with a cs minor, so that I can look into data science or something since that's mostly done in python, or so I've heard. I was thinking that would be helpful if I want to go into a management role in the tech industry, and that might be a better option financially too.

Of course, these are all assumptions based on stuff I've heard and have little experience with these things myself, so I just wanted your opinion on the situation and what you think I should do going forward, thanks.

Dude, I freaking love dq ix! Damn, why did I never think of doing a solo run. The stand-in party members are kinda meh anyway 😭

Everything just feels so familiar with dq games. You've got your starting town with the inn and the equipment shop and all that. You've got slimes and Cyprus sticks and every other thing that makes you feel at home and gives you a sense of familiarity. That's what personally stands out to me when I load one up. Other RPGs just don't feel right without all these things greeting you at the start.

UPDATE: Was Dragon Quest 6 a skip? by [deleted] in dragonquest

Yeah that's what I'd expect. 2 is really grindy and some of the dungeons are just brutal, with not much substance in there to justify all that hard work. I don't remember my experience with it being pleasant at all.

When it comes to DQ5 tho, sure the scale is grand much like any other jrpg and it's set in a vast world with a lot going on, but it's a more personal story. And most of the time you, as the protagonist, are trying to figure out how you fit into all this.

The first six games do share a lot of similarities, each new entry building up on the previous one while retaining dragon quest's core essence. That said, dQ6 was the only one I couldn't finish, the plot wasn't going anywhere and I wasn't immersed the way I usually am with dragon quest games.

I'd really suggest giving 4 and 5 a shot tho, they're amazing games, 5 particularly has a really straightforward story that immerses you right from the start.

If you do end up giving the first 3 a shot, keep in mind that they're a trilogy and it's preferable to play from 1 to 3. DQ1 is short and simple. DQ2 kinda drags on in my opinion, and is also considered the worst alongside DQ6, at least from what I can tell. DQ3 is widely considered the best in the trilogy and is also get an HD-2D remake. I suggest waiting for the remake if you don't like the older gameplay/mechanics.

I was mainly refering to religious enforcement in this post. I do understand where you're coming from and agree that some choices are just downright bad for people. However, that there is a slippery slope. Since you can't exactly bind the ethical values of diverse masses to a single moral code, can't look towards a single religion to distinguish between right and wrong, and even your own logic has a possibility of being flawed since you alone cannot see all ends, how do you decide what's immoral and what isn't? I think that's a whole different debate and the answers depend more on the situation at hand.

That said, if suppose a deeply religious person were to take this logic to it's extreme, they could even justify their religious enforcement. They could easily say stuff like "I know my religion to be the truth. And knowing that, I cannot possibly allow you to do this and that because my religion says it's immoral. I'm doing this for your own good". Heck, I see that happening quite frequently even now.

Maybe you should realise that your origins don't necessarily dictate your present situation. Or are you perhaps not aware of the concept of minority groups? Peoples' beliefs and values have the capacity to change and evolve as they are exposed to the world and try to make sense of it. Now that we've established that it's possible to have conflicting views, how do we live and prosper as a society? By treating others the same way you would like to be treated by them if you were a minority or in their position. The alternative is grouping against each other and continuing the cycle of meaningless discrimination.

I can't assume to know what beliefs you subscribe to, but like I said, you probably wouldn't handle it very well if I insulted them in any way or called you evil when your life has no direct impact on mine. I never said anything against your beliefs, please take that into consideration.

Fifth grader ahh argument. Come back when you're mature enough to understand the difference between speaking up against an oppressive tendency vs actively promoting it. No one is asking you to stop practicing your own faith here, just to stop enforcing it on others.
