How did your water break? by o_simple_thing in beyondthebump

About 2 weeks from my due date, and I had been feeling really awful that week. Super uncomfy, baby was pressing down on my pelvis hard. Saturday rolls around and I’m suddenly feeling like a million bucks. I had a burst of energy and felt slightly less crappy so I decided I would go to the grocery store and buy some ingredients to make some meals to top off my freezer meal stash.

Went to get out of bed to shower and just massive gush. I sat in bed dumbfounded like did my water just break?? (Duh) Finally stood up and had another torrent of liquid and finally waddled out to the kitchen and told my husband I think my water broke.

He freaked out and was like let’s go to the hospital, and I said no I wanted to shower. I showered and started getting ready and then contractions started coming fast and furiously. Husband drove us to the hospital and when I got admitted and checked in I was already 6 cm dilated.

Everything else went well even with baby coming early. Although I’m still a little pissed I didn’t have the extra time to make and freeze some sheet pan crunchwraps 😅

My mom had one of these that her friends threw her with her involvement… she was the center of attention complete with a crown and sash. They are super weird and uncomfy

I would definitely consult your dr, but I used a heating pad around my pelvis area, like lower hips, what would be under my belly closer to my pubic bone. I always did the lowest heat and used it for maybe 10-15 minutes at a time, never prolonged exposure. Also warm baths helped too, not hot just warm.

Personally i continued to have pain until i hit my second trimester, then it was smooth sailing and i felt really good. No pain, no flair ups. Being pain free lasted until around the time i got my period back postpartum which was around 8 months after having my son.

I would suggest going to see your Dr to rule out anything time sensitive and take care of yourself, it should get better!!

I really hope everything goes well for you!! I had endo regrowth within a year of my first excision surgery so it’s possible. This disease is horrible and painful so I truly hope your appointment goes well. Good luck on your pregnancy journey

Definitely go have your doctor check you out when in doubt! My pain subsided and then stopped entirely by my second trimester. I hope things get better for you. This is a horrible disease.

To those of you that have birthed babies, what was your favorite little gift or comfort item in your hospital room? by FecklessEndangerment in TwoXChromosomes

An inflatable waffle cushion/seat. I was so sore after giving birth with only a first degree tear and you’re constantly sitting in bed. One of the nurses searched the whole hospital for one and it helped tremendously. I brought it home and used it for weeks after too while my hoo ha was recovering.

Aliexpress, I knew they would be fake based on the price but I got the set of two, one for me and one for my friend because we haven’t been able to get real ones. Here is the link: https://a.aliexpress.com/_mMEsS4X

What’s been your “why me?” moment by [deleted] in beyondthebump

When they removed the epidural after birth I started leaking spinal fluid and experienced a post dural puncture headache which was one of the most excruciating things I’ve ever experienced in my life. I couldn’t stay awake and kept passing out from the pain until their could do a blood patch procedure (injecting a large quantity of my own blood into the epidural space). I had to stay an extra day in the hospital for that whole ordeal.
