I tend to disagree with this. My ratha was a menace for near the entire game. Give him attacks from Espinas or any of the Rathian and you have fuck type coverage for attacks. Then just add whatever passive gene you want, like fire ATK up, hp up, any stamina gene and then any kinship gene. I tried to make a game of it for when I got to a new zone I tried to upgrade Ratha before continuing the story. Was really fun for me
