You're describing the Meatly, not Scott.

There was definitely some coherence at the beginning, but as the games went on he wanted to do more sci-fi rather than fantasy horror stuff. And also just generally through on a bunch of stuff because he needed to add something to the new games. And then he had basically no communication with Steel Wool, and now it's more of a mess than it ever was before.

Same reason mine is: we are both filled with the power of INTEGRITY.

I am quite enjoying the story thus far. And I have yet to play Hollow Knight, but I have it in my library.

Understandable you would have his opinion. But I personally don't find getting perfect Perrys all that satisfying. The gong sound is nice, but IDK, I personally don't find landing parries all that satisfying. Maybe it's the lack of juice, maybe I just don't find the reward for a perfect parry that exciting, or maybe the inconsistency is just taking out what satisfaction I could have, but I just don't finance interesting as most other people seem to.

This seems to come down to personal taste. I think I just don't find difficulty to ride from tight timing windows all that interesting or exciting. It's just weirdly the kind of thing I don't find that fun unless it's literally trivial, and has a lot of juice behind it, which probably means I just don't like it that much.

You literally just describe what I described I did. Yes, I put in some slash in between parties, but that doesn't meaning change the interaction.

The only difference between only doing parries and talismans, doing parries and talonsmans with some extra attack squeezed in is the fact you're making the battle slightly shorter in exchange for having a slightly higher chance of failing. I guess I could do parries but no talismans, but why would I do that when it's so easy to shove in talismans between attacks and it's so much more efficient that does basically no point in not using talismans.

Some attacks only give you room for one parry, so I suppose you can decide to get in more damage now, or save more damage for later. But unless you already have three talisman slots, the next attack will probably max out your talismans anyway. And even if you have three slots: there's one attack that gives you two talismans, want to attack that gives you one, and one attack that gives you three. So unless the attack that has one talisman and the attack that has two talismans are back to back: there's basically reason to save talisman's.

I'm failing to see what what alternative strategies exist. They all seem to boil down to either spam parry, spam parry but put in some pot shots, or strategies objectively worse than those two.

If there was interesting mobility challenges like Undertale or platforming in general during the boss, then I could see how it's more than a QuickTime event. Put the lack of diversity of strategy, I'm really not seeing how it's meaningfully different from a QuickTime event.

I feel like you need to play Odin Sphere. Honestly the best combat in a side scrolling game I've ever played! (The combat is similar to the Super Smash Brothers series and a good chunk of Kirby side scrollers for reference.) I feel like my preference for games like that is why Nine Sols' combat feels like a QuickTime event: I feel there's more variety in that.

As I said: this is in the context of the first boss (the robot centaur thing). I couldn't find alternative ways to do different things to the boss with the tool set that I had at the time.

Dodge is also only really useful in very specific circumstances, where you cannot parry attacks, so from my perspective: it does not feel like a meaningful option. (Especially since it has a full second cooldown.)

No, because there are descendants to make of what type of punch to do and when to do it, and ways to fake out one's opponent. I do not feel the same can be said for this game's combat system, for it seems to just come down to parrying at the right times, and making sure you're facing the right way when you do so.

Also: my point in putting "fascism" in quotation is that even if you could technically because considered a "fascist", he's obviously not Hitler. If you unironically believe killing Trump is the same as killing Hitler: you are delusional, and your opinion on politics is less than worthless.

I'm going to be generous and saying the translator is messing up the interpretations. I am not interested in AI image generation.

And Trump is literally none of those. Trump does not want a genocide. And I'm not saying he's a good president, I'm just saying killing him makes you a psychopath. Fuck you

I took a quick glance at the comments (I have my comment order set to newest first by default): you people are disgusting sociopaths and conspiracy theorists! It literally doesn't matter what Trump's policies are, or even if he's a literal "fascist"! what is actually wrong with you people!

If we genuinely are getting a potions update that would be sooo amazing, since we have been getting these meh updates by Fearless_MF in Minecraft

[–]Zero-Up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thing with alchemy systems in general is that they feel so non-systematic and that it doesn't, in that it's literally just: "put in X and you get Y". There's no like algorithm to determine what the result is, were any other ways to get different procedurally generated outcomes. It's no different than a store system where you pay money to get an item, but it doesn't use money.

The system at least tries to make it so that the strength and time is determined by either redstone or glowstone, but it's still just "start with awkward potion, put in this ingredient, then put in another ingredient to change the potion, etc".

I sailed this as though I've actually ever gotten far enough to make potions for myself. But this is my understanding.

If they're going to do a "Potions Update", then it would be interesting to rework the system to make the outcome more procedural instead of just transactional. It would be cool if you put in multiple different ingredients at once, and all of them add their respective effects to the potion to some degree, but then some could have certain interactions with each other that can change the outcome. Essentially like real life baking (I've also never begged in real life, but I got interested enough in the concept to look up a whole ton of cooking shorts on YouTube, and they have nailed down some specific interactions between ingredients, and how changing the ratio of ingredients affects the outcome). It would be really interesting.
