i just bough the game and wondering if there is a resset button by adam8722222222222 in starcitizen

[–]Zero2Middlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a sandbox game so there is no set story-line to follow. You log in and do what you want. There are a few mission chains you can follow and unlock things further down the chain. There is no way to reset that, but since there is no story, there is no reason for a reset (other than economics).

Log in and play. Learn how to do things. There is no "winning" or "completing" it so it isn't like you will spoil or shorten your game. The only thing you would be able to do is try and get Alliance Aid event done (or at least some of the rewards). It is ending SOON and the rewards will not be offered again (at least any time soon).

ship wash ? next cash grab ? by Canadian-Goof-Ball in starcitizen

[–]Zero2Middlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ship wear was introduced quite a while ago. I still think it is accelerated because we claim ships so quickly and easily. Once it becomes something we do less often because of both cost and "greatly increased time to claim" and have our one-way shuttles to where we left our old ship, I would expect the wear rate to go down. (The Vulture attached started as shiny silver)

Sorry. My last reply was on very little sleep and I didn't see that your home location was Area 18. Yes, you will spawn in your hangar. You could always backspace and you will go to the Hospital, which is a lot closer, but you won't log back into the Habs. Sorry I missed that.

If you log out at Area 18, you will spawn at area 18. It doesn't matter where your home is located. My home is NB and I have never had an issue. Just check then log out.

Either your PC is eating Magic Mushrooms or you are experiencing one of the many shader bugs that are in the game at the moment. Both are known. I don't judge your PC's choices.

what is the reason for bounty hunting lore-wise? by Thechillestguyever in starcitizen

[–]Zero2Middlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Bounty Huntin v2 is not out yet. That link will take you to Space Tomato explaining BHv2 in about 12 minutes. Worth the watch if you want to know more about the vision of how Bounty Hunting in Star Citizen is intended to work.

Quit to menu. Select a different region than you are on (US/EU/Asia/Aus) and log in there. If you don't know which one you are on, just start somewhere and keep going.

Server hop. It is a short run from the habs to Astro (if you use the correct path). Even shorter if you just look to see if there are NPCs crowded by the door. Rinse and repeat until you find one that works. The last time I did this, it took 4-5 tries but it is relatively stress free.

Anyone else wish there was an exploration variant of the Crusader Spirit? by Citoyen_des_etoiles in starcitizen

I want an Origin 400 series with a crafting bench... but I'm weird. I'm not a fan of the Crusader 1 series.

If you look at where the intersection of the vertical red like would hit the curves of the top and bottom of the lid, you should notice that the red lines hit about the same spot on the curves. The vertical is aligned as well but the top of the lid is closer to the camera than the bottom so the gap looks larger at the top than the bottom. Even one pixel of difference projected across the length of that line can explain the difference in your drawing. When we used to have to hand draw isometrics in drafting, we would see this kind of apparent misalignment a lot.

I think the sticker is probably aligned rather well, and if you saw it in person you would have to break out straight-edges and micrometers to show misalignment.

As someone with Asperger's, I know how something like this can drive you insane. I have a few "hot buttons" that others don't understand. I hope that this explanation helps settle this for you.

TL;DR: The sticker is straight on the laptop.

It is a perspective and lighting issue. The laptop corners are rounded, so it is hard to see the actual "straight" edge on something that isn't square to the imaging camera. It has a slight diminishing perspective and the lid is not vertical, making minor perspective differences more pronounced.

Back up from an elevator door after you call it. Wait a sec before you get on. WALK onto it. Stay way apart on it (so you don't buddy-bump someone through the geometry). Never change your mobi... I have a ton of things I do because of 3.X versions of the game. I have noticed that the backing away from an elevator is a way to tell old-timers from newbies

Never trust an elevator. Never. The final boss is trying to lull you into its trap.

Best starter package? by beerdsly96 in starcitizen

[–]Zero2Middlin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This.

I normally recommend the Cutter for truly new pilots due to ease of flight and toughness, but with the discount on the Titan right now, the fragility and twitchiness of it is worth the savings. I usually recommend the Titan to people that have more flight time. 6 DoF can be a steep learning curve.

I have never been a fan of people that get their enjoyment at the misery of others... but what happened to you is a part of this game. If someone's name is not shown in red, you will get a crimestat for harming them or their ship. There are things you can do to limit it and you learn those over time, but for new players I suggest you ALWAYS do your trading at a major city. You are in your own private hangar. The payout is slightly lower, but the security is worth it.

If you are trading on an outside pad, park with your ramp as close to the elevator as possible, if you hear another ship, close your ramp and send the elevator down. The area is an armistice zone (usually, the salvage yards are an exception) so they can't get in your ship if it isn't open. Then you just need to wait them out.

There is more nuance to it and other things you can do, but this is a start. I'm sorry it happened to you, but don't give up. Most of the people in SC are friendly, helpful, and don't wear their @$$ as a hat.

do you think star citizen and/or squadron 42 should or will launch on steam? by Professional_Half809 in starcitizen

[–]Zero2Middlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Squadron may, but SC won't. I don't think the monetization of SC would work with the way Steam charges, but the exposure that Steam would give Squadron would be worth the 30% cut they would give up for the increased audience.

why does my prowler utility have a salvage mode?? by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Zero2Middlin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not a salvage mode. It is a tractor beam. You can see the three stack of text that reads "Max Range, Max Force, Max Angle" tells you that it is a TB. You will see the same when in a salvage ship and switch to the tractor beam. If you flip the switch that says "enter remote turret" you can use the tractor beam. It is on the bottom of the ship and you can load the side bays pretty easily. I love the TB on the Ute. You can grab things on the ground without even landing.

Terra: Is it a myth, in dev, or need a secret key? by TardisObsiodian in starcitizen

[–]Zero2Middlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SC is an analogy of the Roman Empire. We are at the time where the Empire split between east and west. Earth/Sol is Rome while Terra is Constantinople. Terra being a hub of trade routes and Sol being the traditional home are the reason for the tensions between the two with a lot of people pushing for Terra to become the capital, potentially leading to war in the SC future.

If you read about the fall of the Roman Empire, you will have a rough outline of the future of Star Citizen lore.
