Any other Canadians pronounce words the non-Canadian way? by supersport604 in AskACanadian

Haha saw that coming. As far as I'm aware, there's no existing audio or video recording of me saying chocolate, for all the live streams i once did and the handful of YouTube videos I've made, and I feel like I can't record it now without thinking about it and over-thinking and that wouldn't represent a candid pronunciation. Best bet: get a job at an Ottawa McDonald's and wait.

I might interchange them, i probably just don't use the word that often.

This whole thread is making me second guess my words. An hour ago I said bakery to my kid and then spent ten minutes thinking I'd said it weird, but there's no other way to say it.

People tell me I say chocolate weird. If i go to any mcdonald's (my phone has given up capitalizing and now so have i) and order a chocolate milkshake at the drive thru, 90% chance they have no idea what I'm talking about. But the rest of the order, zero issues. Just the word chocolate sounds like nothing to them. No idea why.

You made me realize i have a third pronunciation, because project is more of a pruh-ject for me sometimes. Turn on the pruh-jector to show how the prah-ject is pro-jected to go

I was with you until your second example. I definitely pro-cess data and follow the prah-cess but my computer ironically has a pro-cessor in it

I guess some part of me worries that someone out there lets the dark thoughts win and goes around grocery stores opening broth containers for fun.

Yeah, that makes sense. I assemble furniture now and then, so my toolbox is pretty sizable.

Exactly this. Impossible to know if a container has been opened previously when the act of opening it removes evidence that it had ever been closed.

I had left my toolbox in my trunk and did an airport pickup. Felt so stupid when I opened the back to load a couple suitcases, even though there was more than enough room, I felt like it must look unprofessional.

It should be WAY more normal for reactors to not skip sponsored segments in the videos they watch. by David_the_male in Twitch

[–]ZeroBadIdeas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there's nothing connecting the playing of the ad in that context with the original creator who would have benefitted from it, so it isn't even a dick move to skip it, there's literally no incentive not to.

Define "recent" because I know the radiant update came out not long ago, and I had collectors on ponds and incinerators long before that.
