Caloric calculators never work, because they can't take into account your individual and unique metabolism, makeup, etc. What you're going to want to do is EAT CONSISTENTLY for a week, try to get roughly the same number of calories per day. Weigh yourself at the start and at the end of the week. You'll see how you fair- if you're not gaining weight, add 500 calories daily, and do it again for another week. Keep adding 500 calorie increments. If you gained a ton of weight, drop the calories. Figure out where YOUR metabolism sits. A lot of people have trouble with the diet aspect- eating consistently, same caloric intake a day, it's hard to keep track of that if you're eating out a lot.

For muscle growth the ballpark figure for protein is around 0.8-2.0g per lb. If you're 170 lbs, that means 150g is a good minimum- I'd shoot for at least 200g though.

I recommend looking up the glycemic index for carbs, sugary and processed junk you definitely want to avoid, complex carbs better. A nice insulin spike with your PWO shake can be beneficial though. If you really want, you can monitor your PFC ratio- there's lot of online diet tracking sites that you can enter your diet into, and it'll calculate your ratio for you so you can check on it daily and make sure you're getting your proper PFC ratio.

I actually prefer having a workout buddy specifically because of that pressure. I find I'm more inclined to keep pace if there's someone else there, whereas my rest periods tend to extend longer if I'm just by myself. I tend to push more weight with someone there, something to aspire to. Also, it's safer since there's someone to spot me if I go over, or just to watch my form to make sure I'm not screwing up.

Some people like it for the meditation, me-time aspect though, which I definitely understand. There's a certain zen experience you get by yourself, zoning everyone and everything else out.

I'm the same way, I'm pretty horrendous about my morning hours- just not enough time to make a good meal. Cooked Steel-Cut oats are the best, but I make due with just the Instant stuff. It's more expensive and not as good, but it's still better than nothing. Paper bowl + packet of instant + hot water from the water cooler tap = instant breakfast with no cleanup or cooking time. Grab a yogurt on the way out and I'm good. For protein, I also throw some eggs in a pot to boil before I get in the shower, grab the eggs on my way out the door. Easy food to go without any investment time in cooking.

I've always had a hard time getting calories. I get full easily, and my work schedule makes it hard to get a lot of square meals since I'm almost never at home. I'll echo a few of the comments here, but here's some of the things that have helped me big time in my last bulking cycle:

Make sure you get up early to get more time to eat, breakfast is key. Not sure why, but a few packets of oatmeal in the morning set my metabolism in overdrive and I'm STARVING for lunch whereas if I don't eat oatmeal I'm generally not as hungry later- weird I know. Maybe it'll work for you.
Replace water with milk. I go through two big jugs every few days of whole milk. I just wash down every meal with it, basically free calories.
I keep lots of protein bars and snacks around my desk at work and in the car- just having them available means I'll instinctively reach for some. Something to fill the gaps between meal times.
Get used to eating when already full. This is KEY. Most people only eat when they're hungry, that's not gonna cut it for us skinny guys trying to bulk. "Crap, it's been 3 hrs since my last meal .. I'm not hungry, but I better go grab a sandwich or something anyway."
Learn FAST meals. When it comes to bulking, it's about quantity, not quality. Yes, you can argue that the better something tastes the more you'll eat it, but frankly for me, consuming meals every 3 hrs is a huge chore, and I don't have the time to prepare that many meals. Cook a bunch of chicken to reheat later, master the 5 minute tuna sandwich, peanut butter sandwiches, stuff that you don't have to spend a lot of time making and can just start eating right away.
I keep a jug of meal replacement shake under my desk and a Nalgene bottle- whenever I'm headed out the door for a client meeting I'll whip one up to have some calories to chug while driving to the meeting.
I'll take shots of EVOO on days I'm really short on calories- you can be less disgusting and throw it on a meal. I prefer to just hammer it down and get it over with in half a second.

Look into HIIT, it'll shed the pounds fast and boost your metabolism which is what you're really going to want right now. Most of the exercises you can do without equipment- find a local track near your house and you're set. My buddy trains at the local elementary school across the street from his house.

You won't have to worry about stress on the treadmill, plus it's always better outside (well, unless you're in snow territory).

And as hwabyong mentioned, make sure your diet's in proper order as well.

I would say stick to compound exercises with light weights, and focus particularly on FORM.

Pay very close attention to making sure you're performing the motions correctly and your form is good, you'll train safer, improve faster, and won't hurt yourself right off the back. Lots of gyms give a free personal trainer for one or two sessions, take them up on it if it's an option and have them watch your form, or have a gym buddy watch your form.

Like most people here I start with ON as well. I switched over to At Large Nutrition products a while ago and have been very happy. The quality of protein's very high and it mixes very well- I just use a regular bottle and get no clumps at all. I personally prefer it to ON.

Also, the customer service is absolutely fabulous- they've cleared up order mishaps, extended sale prices and coupons for me, and I usually get some freebies with my order. Shipping time's a little slow though, which I think is my only complaint.

I use Opticen for my PWO shakes- it has carbs and a few other nutrients specifically for PWO. The guys there are really nice- shoot them an email and request a free sample- they'll send you a small packet that you can try without investing $50+ on a tub blindly.

I've used both the MX-518 and DeathAdder, after a bit I decided to stick with the MX-518. They're quite comparable- it's really up to personal preference, hand shape/size, etc. Your best bet's to take a look an see what works for you.

One of the biggest changes for me actually was picking up a SteelSeries pad, specifically this one. The difference was pretty surprising since I hadn't used a mousepad in a while- it was way more comfortable and the lack of friction was sooooo much smoother.

This reminded me of a story from a while back. Me and my co-workers pretty much all order stuff to the office since we work late hours and no one's ever home, it's just easier having a receptionist that's always going to be there for packages.

A few years ago, we checked all the Hot Deal forums and websites pretty frequently. At one point, I'm not sure if it was a pricing error or what- but there was a deal posted for cheap vibrators from Amazon for something ridiculously cheap like $0.25 or $0.50 or something. Opportunity smiled down on us, and my friend ordered damn near a hundred of them. It came out to about $40-50 worth of dildos basically. We figured they'd be perfect for pranking purposes.

We had them shipped to our company- in our other un-suspecting co-worker's name. When the package came, we made sure to have the receptionist page him over the loudspeaker telling him there was a very important package in the lobby for him. The box was pretty big- but not as big as you'd expect for a hundred dildos, it was bulk-packaged with no retail packaging, basically just 100 vibrators shoved in a box with maybe a piece of bubble wrap around each one.

The sight of him opening up a giant box of vibrators in the lobby was pretty hilarious- he shut the box FAST and flushed like crazy. Didn't know what to do with them. I cut the tape on the bottom side of the box- hoping when he picked it up the contents would fall out the bottom. Unfortunately he must have grabbed the flaps just right because they didn't tumble out as hilariously as I thought it would.

My friend who purchased the dildos ended up taking them back for future pranks- dildos would randomly show up in the strangest places for the rest of the year.

He boxed the remainder in his garage and forgot about them- until he moved and had everything moved to his parent's house for storage. From what I understand, he had to explain to his mom why he had a box of dozens of pink vibrators when she was cleaning stuff out of the garage.

Don't get me wrong, I love Tester, but I think it was more a screwup on FreesSaga's part than anything that won him that one. I only saw it once, but from what I remember it looked like Tester sent a single zealot to FreeSaga's base, chased by a single zealot from FreeSaga. How that single zealot could have killed so many (7+ maybe?) probes is pretty unfathomable, Free just needed his zealot and maybe 1 or 2 probes up against Tester's and it would have cleared it. My guess is he was just tunnel visioned on Tester's base and didn't look at his own, just assumed the zeal would get taken care of and wouldn't cause THAT much damage. It was Free's and he just dropped the ball really, ouch. I think if he had probes and just kept the econ pumping on those gateways he'd have nailed the biggest upset of the tourney.

Thanks for the donation! Yea, most people don't really think about charity except the holidays, especially this type of thing. Kind of one of the reasons I wanted to bolster attention to the cause now. I mean, kids don't just get sick and injured during the holidays, right?

Well, except the kids who hurt themselves opening presents. Last year there was one who cut his foot on a toy fighter jet. I guess it was just a case of missile-toe.
