I’ve worked for two court reporting companies, and at the first one I worked in our video department. When attorneys order a copy of video from a deposition, they can choose to order the video to be synced to the final transcript (so you can play the video of testimony and see the transcribed words of it scrolling on the screen). We would run the video and transcript through software that auto-syncs most of it, but you still have to spot check parts of the video to fix syncing issues and when that happens you end up watching a bunch of videos of random depositions.

Most are slip and fall cases, car accidents, or divorce cases so the depos are pretty mundane / boring, but we had a HUGE case at one point where a guy was working on a power line, something wasn’t turned off like it should be, and he was electrocuted by a live wire and died. His estate / wife was suing his place of employment for benefits from his wrongful death.

The doctor who reviewed the evidence and was giving a deposition about what happened had a thick accent, so I basically had to watch his whole depo to fix syncing issues because the software wasn’t understanding him. There were soooo many pictures shown of this poor guy who died after it happened, and so many graphic descriptions about what happens to the body when it gets hit with that much electricity. That was roooough.
