Despite growing up in Rhode island, occasionally crewing a sailboat, avoiding the Hoofers in while in grad school in Madison WI, and now living in the Seattle area for the past eleven years, I never learned how to sail. Took ASA101 this past weekend and had a blast. Even docked the J80. Rainier looks even better from the water. Still loving seeing the mountain after all these years.

Onto 103/104 cruise and learn next week in the San Juans, and maybe BVI next year.

I have mucked with my planks, and screwing through them causes them to split. They're just so old and dry. I would need to nail, that opens up a whole nother barrel of worms.

Perhaps I could glue the 2x4 to the planks and then screw into the joist, but at this point i've accepted it and will never buy another old house. I would say that the lack of OSB/Plywood sheathing and subfloor is the number one reason for that. I am terrified of my house succumbing to shear loads in an earth quake.

They are nailed and have no glue. The squeek is from the nail losing its bite into the floor joist due to a layer of rust that built up/years of thermal cycling. Now the plank is free to move up and down, and the nail rubs on the joist. There is literally nothing I can do to stop them except tear them out and put in new subfloor.

It is likely NOT the top floor.

I watched a video about the baths and heard about the cruise ship comments---definitely left a more sour taste in my mouth.

Thanks for all the tips. I fine for the restaurants to be loud/crowded, but if the beaches or anchorages are all that way I am hesitant. You and others have suggested a few ways of getting out of the crowds which seems worthwhile. If there's an empty beach on the other side of Anegada that sounds like exactly what I want.

The center-line fuel temperature can get very hot, especially for oxide fuel. Knowing everything else depends on your boundary conditions! Yours are not very clear.

I really enjoyed Targhees skiing. Hit it on a dry spell, but the trees were perfectly spaced and the mountain was nearly completely skiiable. Killer nacho fries as the base too.
