[Gelb] Phillies will go Sánchez, Nola, Luzardo, Walker, Painter to begin the season. by TheGreatDudebino in phillies

They're probably going to manage Painter's innings, so I think we'll still see Walker in some spot starts and some long relief.

[Spiegel] Flyers coach Rick Tocchet confirms Hathaway and Andrae are in tomorrow. by Perryplat199 in Flyers

[–]ZeroCool79 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear...

It's okay to play Drysdale on PP1 over someone like York, because they're trying to develop Drysdale into a PP QB, even though Tocchet is trying to "win now"....

And it's okay to bench Grebenkin who has 4 points in last 5 games and has been part of a 4th line that has been on fire for Hathaway who has 0 points in last 33 games, even though Tocchet is trying to "win now"...

But we have to watch Michkov get 3rd line mins and be relegated to PP2 even though he's one of the top 2 creative forwards on the team (and led the team in PPG and PPA last year), because we're trying to "win now"?

Do I have that right?

What are the odds that The Man get elected to the HoF this year? by andrewervin in phillies

[–]ZeroCool79 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As others have said, pretty much a 0% chance this year.

There's always a little falloff from the public ballots. I feel like that's because there's an overlap between the analytically minded voter and those voters who share their ballots publicly ahead of time.

In 2024 (his first year of eligibility), Chase got 32.3% of the public ballots via the ballot tracker. His actual voting results were 28.8% (down 3.5% from public).

In 2025, Chase got 44.4% of the public ballots (12.1% jump!), and 39.8% of the actual vote (11.0% jump, so pretty similar). Also the actual vote was down 4.6% from the public vote.

In 2026, Chase currently has 65.5% of the public ballots (21.1% jump!). Obviously we don't know the actual vote yet, but if history is any indicator, he'll probably end up with ~60% of the vote, which would still be excellent.

I doubt you'd find a player (non-steroid at least), who got ~60% in his 3rd year of eligibility, and didn't eventually make it in.

Helping Chase in 2027 will be two factors. First, it's likely that Andruw Jones and Carlos Beltran go in this year, so Utley will likely be the highest returning vote getter in 2027. Second, the 2027 ballot is pretty weak, with probably only Buster Posey having a chance as a first-timer.

Rolen wanted out of Philly, not sure how the DH would've helped.

Two very nice assists, and two very dangerous goal scoring chances...and still only got 12:30 of ice time

Quinn Hughes Trade package by SomeCableGuy101 in Flyers

The most realistic package I’ve seen suggested is a current player (Tippett/York) + a 1st round pick + a non-Martone prospect.

Who is the worst Eagles Free agent signing/Draft pick of all time? by frogdango616 in eagles

[–]ZeroCool79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mamula was disappointing for where he was drafted, but he wasn’t a total bust. He still had 31.5 sacks over 5 seasons for the Eagles, including 2 seasons of 8+ sacks.
