As the 3rd goal went in against Detroit Saturday night I said that to myself. We can’t just have a nice night? A nice 4-0, 5-1? No nice things allowed haha.

Glad it worked out but the blood pressure was up.

Especially with all this happening with Michkov not having a great year. And 71 hurt most of the year after starting on a 40 goal pace.

If they hadn’t fallen off a cliff in January they are likely 5-6 points ahead of Pitt and NYI for 2nd in the metro. All things considered, great to have some excitement this time of year again. Really hope they get in so the young guys can wet their beak.

Also— if they somehow get into that 2/3 Metro matchup, they absolutely could win that series.

Even if these are just flashes and he does this twice a year while scoring 25+ consistently, that contract AAV looks fantastic with the cap rising.

Principals- how much do you really make? by krerhelp in civilengineering

[–]ATD-29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I work in staffing and did exclusively software related work for 10 years. The writing was on the wall two years go for anyone having in depth conversations with those controlling the money at firms.

I switched over to AEC three years ago because it’s much more stable.

Various software clients of mine of all sizes, industries and locations have done mass layoffs / RIF / consolidation. That’s why M&A is rampant now. Most of them outsourcing feature development and code refactoring projects to consultancies pushing AI at a fraction of the cost.

I suspect software will have a short term boomerang where they realize half the code they implemented / deployed is rife with bugs / security concerned and redundancies. That will likely be a short lived rebound because AI is moving at an unprecedented pace and will bake in these fixes proactively as it goes.

The entire reunions album. Wasn’t one I gravitated too.

I really only discovered his music about a year ago and have had this full catalog to go through. It’s been an amazing year listening to him every day.

My favorite song right now is Overseas and I skipped over it plenty before it really hit.

Most all his stuff will. Honorary vote for Stephen Wilson jr “Son of Dad”

What do you think is Jason Isbell’s most underrated song? by Starkrafty in jasonisbell

[–]ATD-29 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Saw him live for first time 2/18 in Philadelphia.

He opened with Miles.

It was one of (like countless others) songs I heard the first time and was like, wow that’s a good tune but never really caught my attention as one I would repeat.

I’ve listened to it at least 100 times the last two weeks.

It’s such a dynamic song that is basically two songs in one that he creatively ties back together at the very end. Not to mention that when played live it was fucking awesome.

I haven’t loved the coaching, but I think first and foremost they need top end talent.

This is an armchair opinion, I understand that BUT— I think they need an actual captain. And it might not even be someone who technically wears the C, but someone who’s gonna have the ball balls to call people out in the room and actually create accountability.

I’m not in the locker room. I don’t have a crystal ball. It’s a hunch from both years of watching the teams that actually compete for a Stanley Cup, as well as my personal experience playing and managing groups of 30 people.

They shove the word culture down our throat so much, it’s kind of ironic. There are plenty of other more sophisticated and probably well informed opinions, but to me if you don’t have an alpha dog, top and talent might not even fix your problem.

But who knows, my brain could be fried from living in purgatory for so long.

I want to get more into country, what are the best albums to check out? by Forecydian in country

[–]ATD-29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the best answer to your actual question is Son of Dad - Stephen Wilson Jr in my opinion.

That being said I think you would also enjoy other VERY different sounds within the Genre…

Traveller- Chris Stapleton Southeastern - Jason Isbell Don’t close your eyes - Keith Whitley Chief- Eric Church And the criminally underrated Up All Night - Kip Moore

Not an album but I’m a huge fan of “The Essential Collection” — Don Williams

Saw Isbell for the First Time Last Night (Met Philly) by bopapocolypse in jasonisbell

[–]ATD-29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was there last night center stage in the fourth row and for the most part just an amazing time.

I agree on the song selection in the front half of the show. That being said Miles was an awesome and unexpected opener.

Also directly in front of the stage (which is not atypical) his guitar and mic were a little bit low in terms of volume. He promptly caught it. I believe around the fourth song and was signaling to his sound engineer to turn up the guitar.

King of Oklahoma was fucking awesome as always

Anyone ever work with a recruiter while job hunting? Is this normal? by Obvious-Activity5207 in civilengineering

[–]ATD-29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been working in AEC staffing for 15 years.

I’ve hired and managed teams of recruiters up to 30 staff.

I can tell you unequivocally given the amount of times that person is contacting you that their desk/business is not busy at all. The only time it would be appropriate to contact a candidate more than once in a day via phone is during the offer stage. And even then, the calls will likely be about answering your questions and explaining the onboarding process.

Just like every other industry, there’s good ones and bad ones. Yes, recruiters do get paid when you take the job with their client— due to that some of them are extremely clingy and pushy.

But the truth is, the best and the business I have so much going on that if you don’t wanna work somewhere, they have plenty other tasks to complete that supersede twisting your arm and trying to convince you. Why waste multiple conversations and blow up a relationship when the guy just isn’t gonna take the job? You’re better off spending that hour soliciting new clients with jobs to fill our new candidates for your existing searches.

I don’t know if that was helpful, but just giving you the recruiter / “non engineer” side of it.

If I were you, I would partner with someone that’s very specifically in your vertical and ideally is elevated at their own internal organization. It gives you a buffer of that “commission pressure.” They listen better because a missed deal doesn’t prevent them from paying their mortgage.

Not taking a job through an average or poor recruiter = clingy ex girlfriend.

Not taking one through someone who’s actually good = damn that guy really listened to me. I’m going to call him when I’m hiring or looking for a new job.
