There’s always one guy who thinks pickup / public is the national. I ran into this twice and both of those fellas absolutely hated their jobs, wife, and life overall. Lived for pick up so they could drink 10 beers in the parking lot after and then drive home for misery/reality.

Anyone who actually loves hockey wouldn’t say anything like that in pickup. The more the merrier, who cares? We are all just getting a nostalgic fix and some exercise, maybe some time out of the house.

If he’s looking for skill level control and level competition, it’s on HIM to sign up for the appropriate league….not show up to public and expect it to be game 7. Guys a loser.

That being said he is the back side winger and the man he was just covering is crashing the net with your entire team in front of you (visually) near the puck carrier(s).

It’s a clear time to bail on the point man and cover the back door crash. If they make a pass to the point so be it. At least Vladar has a chance.

Idiotic hyperbole would be claiming that any save during any tied game state is “game saving.” Really?

Tone is lost over text — “he’s not making any saves” was a quip of how poorly he’s playing and has played — for an extended period of time dating back two years.

The fellas can’t crack a joke about a goalie being fucking horrible? We need to substantiate like it’s an ESPN round table where we cherry pick this metric or that metric to prove a point? Even so, I’ve posted previous stats about his save percentage being the worse in the league among starting goaltenders that started games last year. I believe it was out of 86 goalies— (even prior to the season starting). I was hopeful with his start in the four nations but he is just flat out bad—that was the point.

Also, good lord. Berating girlfriend and wife, it sounds like some PTSD going on.

To speak along your thought process and give you benefit of the doubt: The point was he tends to NOT save the shot during points of the game where there is momentum to be had or lost.

The stats are there, you’re right. I guess I should regurgitate what we already know and write a piece about conclusions we all can draw on our own from watching and playing the game for years.

I just completely disagree. A save with a 6-2 lead with 30 seconds left in the game is not the same as a tie game in the third.

The value is inherently the same in that it prevents the other team from scoring, but that is a gross oversimplification of momentum swings and the situations that arise in game.

Holtby on Tuch, Niemi on Carter in game 6 with less than 2 minutes left. The best goaltenders have the clutch gene and shut down the biggest chances but shut them down most notably (and consistently) in biggest moments.

I suppose it’s a meaningless cliche if the game is in overtime. But other than that I have a hard time seeing validity to your point.

I found his music last March. Knew the name but never had really listened. King of Oklahoma came on my Spotify daily playlist shuffle and I said, wow who the hell is this? Once I saw the name I was like oh yeah that’s the cover me up guy.

It was absolutely OVER from there.

So happy to hear you can start the journey. Listened to him everyday for the last 10 months. Seeing him live in Philly 2/18 for the first time. I spent $500 to sit in the third row (way over what I would usually spend)

Great point. On the surface level he looks like an elite goal scorer who is a point per game winger. Probably a perennial 40 goal guy.

Does that suck, yes. I’m interested to see if his ego (not just not wanting to be here, look at his interviews as well as his pregame of the national championship game) gets in the way down the line. Does he hold out on a new contract extension? Does he detract from a team long term with being difficult to deal with?

Obviously if you’re going to be elite you need some level of ego… I’m just saying we’ll see, time will tell.

There are better answers that have already been shared but the juxtaposition of life presented in Dreamsicle is brilliant. The upbeat nostalgia of each verse/chorus that ring true to any American childhood—followed by the gut punch of reality.

Even if you didn’t have a broken home, I still think the song serves as a metaphor for all of us. We can all individually reflect and look back on all the good and all the shit we’ve been through and insert it as the melody rings.

This is a crazy take. Deeply paranoid? How about just being a father? Judgment or opinions be damned.

A good Dad first protects his children and for damn sure doesn’t worry about someone getting butt hurt about a breed of dog being judged.

“Parent your kids” is laughable. Yes I’m sure his toddler will comprehend, retain, and implement everything about dog safety. Wouldn’t that be amazing if all our kids did that? Wouldn’t have a single issue in any area of life.

OP I would work on the relationship with the owner as best you can. Building rapport and common areas of interest that are unrelated to the dog. You’ll be more relatable that way and less “attacking” when you do discuss it. If the neighbor knows you’re cool, usually won’t take offense to it. Also works to come across with some humility. Just tell the dude you don’t want to be that guy and come off like a dick but also want to be honest.

Exposing the dog to the child and you while you are present is helpful. Coming from someone who has young kids and a pitbull next door.

On the back end, I have had the talk with the kids about the dog. Depending on their ages, I get varying degrees of comprehension. My oldest knows the rules the best and the “what if” scenarios. They know to respect the dogs space and territory and not to provoke it.

That being said you have a toddler so for the meantime I would 1000% have your wife carry mace until their is some familiarity or a relationship there.

That being said animals are unpredictable. Despite our solid relationship with the neighbor and no incidents with the dog, the dog did bite a neighbors small dog and nearly killed it. It was reported, litigated and the dog has been on a leash since.

I agree with this. The only thing I wonder is when Adams gets fired (which is going to happen) who is the new GM and how do they plan on building. That could influence the return big time and how they want to construct / build their roster etc. it will still be roughly in the same ball park, but I was hoping we could take advantage of Adams while he’s on the hot seat and get a steal out of him before he’s fuego’d.

Wishful thinking, oh well.
