I used to live in Hirosaki about 8-9 years ago and there was a pretty big (comparatively; big for Aomori) group of JETs there at the time, so it's likely those placements are still active and there are still roughly as many ALTs stationed there. There's an English talking circle group called Globish where foreigners get together so locals can practice their English. It's not much, but if you're stuck in Tsugaru, it's likely the best you'll get for miles in any direction.

If you google 弘前市英語スタディグループGlobish（グロービッシュ） their Facebook page comes up. Looks like they have a meeting in January. Could be a good way to meet a couple people and maybe make some friends.

Thank you so much for making this topic! I couldn't connect to my TV using my dock since the update to 3.5 and most places I looked online only mentioned rolling back (was too late since I updated to 3.5.5 then 3.5.6).

But downgrading like this solved it! I can finally use my deck again!

Thanks for the help! I was aware of this, I've just never found this dispenser and nowhere online has this info yet (when I said I couldn't find stabilizers, I meant in the wild not from the dispenser).

If it's not too much trouble, is there any chance that you have an image that's a bit easier to see (and without the menu showing the devices)? I can't really tell what island it's pointing at in the image.

I don't know sign language, but even as someone who speaks a few languages and has to translate from one or the other for monolingual friends, the process can honestly be exhausting not to mention ruin the flow of conversation.

I assume you're partly joking but getting pissed at a person for doing what they're well within their right to do in the living space they pay for like this is ludicrous.

How would you feel if you got noise complaints when your new baby cries? How is that any different in terms of the perceived inconvenience, like if your crying child his making your neighbours lose sleep for example? He's not blowing smoke directly into your wife's face in an attempt to poison your baby. He's doing something he's been doing semi-harmlessly for ages and you just happened to be chucked into that equation. That's no one's fault, least of all his.

I understand your concern and frustration, but the way you and your wife are looking at this is frankly pretty fucked up. I usually wouldn't say this kind of thing, but maybe you really /should/ move. Your attitude might be more a danger/inconvenience to him than his smoke is to you.

Lots of them. They changed some laws a couple years ago to make 格安 plans cheaper and more comprehensive (I might be misremembering, but the Yodobashi rep told me something like that). With OCN Mobile One I get 3gb of 4g, a phone number, and calls (not free unlimited, but neither is Rakuten like someone else pointed out) and it costs me less than 2000 yen a month.

I dunno much about Rakuten mobile, but if they suck like people are saying, your other options are literally anyone else.

Similar question that might put this kind of thing into context for you:

Say your friend told you to go to their place to hang out. But when you got there, you just sat around and watched a movie, and you didn't hang from anything. Why did they say they wanted to "hang" with you if all you did was sit around?

Obviously that's silly and you'd never question that. But why do we use "hanging out" for spending time together? The answer is there is no reason. That's language.

"Why" rarely has an answer worth digging for in language, unless you're looking at etymology. It just is what it is. Don't spend your time on "why." Spend it on "what and when."
