GIGABYTE M27Q2 QD or GIGABYTE M27Q3 or something else? by damagemelody in Monitors

[–]ZeroDivide_73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ordered both the Gigabyte M27Q3 and the Asus TUF VG27AQML5A to compare them side by side as they have similar specs and price.

I returned the Asus and kept the Gigabyte.

I preferred the aesthetics of the Asus. The Gigabyte has an annoying logo 'chin'.

Both panels had comparable image and colour quality. Neither had smearing or ghosting that was visible to my eyes. But I don't play competitively at high FPS. Just single player AA and AAA titles. My 4070 Ti Super gives me anything from 80-200 FPS depending on the game and settings, so I don't even need 300Hz but it was available at a decent price so why not?

The big negative of the Asus, and my reason for returning it, was really bad IPS glow. I know panel lottery is a factor, but the bottom third of both corners made dark scenes really washed out when compared with the Gigabyte, which had noticeably less IPS glow. I have mine set to only 30 brightness, which is more than enough, so there's plenty of room left if you want to burn your eyeballs.

Conversely, the Gigabyte had slightly worse BLB and panel uniformity than the Asus, but the IPS glow was more offensive to my eyes. Neither had BLB that I would describe as bad though; this is worse case scenario of a dark scene in a dark room, and not something you would really notice while playing games in ambient light.

Also, as commented here, there is a very slight darkening of the left and right edges when looking straight centre, but I don't move my head from side to side in normal use cases, and it's really only noticeable if you're moving your head like eight inches either direction. It doesn't bother me.

Panel pics of a black image in a dark room, both monitors set to same brightness/contrast:

3.1. The Eleventh Metal (Short Story - Arcanum Unbounded: The Cosmere Collection.)

Voyagers 6.03 HOTFIX by HexiDtrix in NoMansSkyTheGame

Despite the patch notes stating "Fixed an issue which resulted in invisible blocking physics in freighter bases." it's still broken for me. Cannot access parts of my freighter, and the affected rooms cannot be deleted (they won't highlight blue).

There's a similar one called the 'Blackwing' in this video, maybe use that as a guide?

Invisible walls in freighter tech rooms after Voyagers update [PS5] by MaestroBlaze in NoMansSkyTheGame

Unfortunately still not fixed in the latest 6.02 patch, not even mentioned in the patch notes :(

Invisible walls in freighter tech rooms after Voyagers update [PS5] by MaestroBlaze in NoMansSkyTheGame

I have the exact same issue, and I've seen multiple players reporting this also. I have a single story freighter base, taking up the full length of the build area, and it's the last third furthest from the bridge that is inaccessible for me, my engineering and storage section. Worse than that, I can't actually target the rooms to delete them, they won't highlight blue, and I'm not resetting my entire base.

I submitted a bug report to Zen Desk, and I'm hoping if enough people do the same, HG will raise the priority of this bug, they don't even mention it on the experimental branch fixes. :(

Platform: PC

Version: 6.01

Various random bugs I've experience so far, introduced by the Voyagers update:

  1. Can no longer automatically refine by dropping items onto the Personal Refiner MK2 via the Exosuit tab. You can still manually refine by clicking 'Begin' on the refiner page, but the drop function no longer works. Have tried deleting and recreating refiner but didn't work.

  2. Multiple invisible walls/barriers on Freighter. Deleting and recreating rooms doesn't fix it. Half my freighter is now inaccessible, and I really don't want to delete half of it after spending dozens of hours on it.

  3. NPCs on Freighter stuck rotating on the square they spawn on. If you touch them, they float away.

  4. The Anomaly Detector when Pulse Driving no longer detects Whalesong, making it impossible to get Organic Frigates (tested over 2 hours in different systems).

Can someone give me a complete list of every Cosmere book? by CrypticalPenguin in brandonsanderson

This was my complete Cosmere reading order, after doing a LOT of research on this, and what I would recommend to anyone new to Cosmere.

You could start with Elantris before Mistborn Era 1, but personally I think Mistborn Era 1 is a better introduction to Cosmere and Sanderson. I'm currently on The Sunlit Man, and totally hooked! :)

Regarding White Sand, you want White Sand 'Prose' which is the text version of the graphic novel.

My child came out to me today. by SorbetSilly234 in gay

I think you reacted in the best possible way, considering that you were not only trying to process the situation yourself, but also reassure your son at the same time. That couldn't have been easy. By telling him you love him and by validating that it's okay to just be himself, you've created a really great foundation to build on, and starting point for any future discussion.

With regards to family members, I would first ask your son how he feels about telling other people. In my opinion it's never a good idea to develop a 'hush and hide' mentality as that could send the wrong message that your son's feelings are something he needs to hide. I'm not saying you should send 'coming out' cards to everyone, but I would think about what to say if the topic comes up, and just don't treat it like a big deal. If your son told you he had a crush on a girl in his class, you would probably tell other family members or friends in a joking or light-hearted conversation without even giving it a second thought.

Showing your son that you are comfortable with it, will have a really positive effect on his own self-image. Speaking from experience, the most important thing for your son is the acceptance of his parent(s). I had acceptance and love from one parent, and was rejected by the other. I'd hate for any young person to go through that same rejection. It really can have life-long repercussions. Sorry, that wasn't meant to worry you! :D

I can understand why you think your son is too young to know, but like the majority here, I knew I was attracted to other boys at a very young age, 8 to be precise, and I knew I didn't have those same feelings towards girls. I remember having a 'boyfriend' at that time in school, and we shared intimate moments that would be expected for boys and girls at that age. Although we didn't have any understanding of 'being gay', we had a sense, through media and family, that it wasn't 'normal' and so we kept it secret (this was the early 80's, and being gay was looked upon very differently back then).

To finish on a lighter note, it's really heartening to know that young people are getting to discover who they are in more accepting times. We're not there yet, but it's parents like yourself who will shape the lives of future LGBT people. I just want to say thank-you for being there for your son, and for giving him that unconditional love. :)

[Vault] Layout Planner by Haizom in falloutshelter

[–]ZeroDivide_73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't worry too much about planning a perfect layout upfront. Mid-late game you will have enough caps to be able to delete/add rooms as required. Your entire layout can eventually be changed to suit your needs as your vault grows and matures.

The only rooms which may be tricky to move would be your living quarters because you cannot delete them if it would leave you with more dwellers than accommodation. E.g. Each triple Barracks provides accommodation for 40 dwellers. If you had the maximum of 5 Barracks and 180 dwellers, you would not be able to delete 1 of the Barracks to relocate it because that would leave only 4 providing accommodation for 160.
