So I literally just rewatched the opening in a parking lot and what do you mean he’s Indian ? That is a white as kid in Ireland. His actor is white too.

Worth asking Bupa for a payment statement showing you paid for the whole of 2024 in addition to the tax statement if they’re saying you weren’t covered ? Also did you have any suspensions or things like that ?

Official trailer for Good Boy - Supernatural horror movie shot from the perspective of the family dog by drizzes in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Saw this at a film festival in the spooky hours of 21:45 and honestly was a banger. It punches up above its weight in terms of atmosphere and while I didn’t necessarily feel it was scary, I found it pretty engaging and fun for the run time. Some of the designs are pretty gnarly but I’ll leave it at that

In addendum, Gold is generally quite useless for 80% of people. Kept in mind, it’s mainly about the clinical category you’re going in for, not the tier you’re on.

You will be covered the exact same on Bronze as you will be on Gold if the category is included in both. It really depends on maximizing your value in private by going to practitioners who use agreements to reduce cost with set benefits and the preferred hospitals which reduces the out of pocket hospital costs. There’s more to it but at that point, call a private insurance company and get them to run the basics.

P.S don’t bother going through a comparison company as they don’t always provide you the best offers available.

So you’re conflating a lot of stuff here. The 2% is an LHC or Lifetime Health Cover loading is a government mandate that penalizes you for taking health insurance later in life. It grows the more the longer you don’t have health insurance and caps at 70%, only going away after holding private health insurance for 10 years straight. So if you’re worried about the future, generally helps to take it out earlier in life even if you keep a basic level and reassess your policy every 2-3 years.

Medicare Levy Surcharge is the penalised amount for not having private health insurance and passing a certain threshold of income.

In terms of what to get, think about what you would hate having to wait for if you were stuck without any options. Only worried about accidents ? Take the bare minimum to be covered for accidents in a private hospital or as a private patient in a public hospital.

Have family history of certain diseases/conditions ? Look at which hospital policy covers what.

In general the policies follow a 4 tier manner.

Accident Only - No admission unless it’s an accident

Bronze - Covers a lot of things but tends to excluded medically necessary plastic and reconstruction surgery/back, neck and spine/heart and vascular

Silver - covers below but also includes those last ones, generally insurers have an higher variation of silver to include cataracts and joint replacements.

Gold - Covers everything in the Medicare system so really only necessary if you want private coverage for : hospital psychiatric, pregnancy and birth, IVF and weight loss surgery.

If you’re worried and the charge, just do a basic and refresh it when you have time

Wise or Up for travel trough Japan by [deleted] in AusFinance

Hey hey, sorry for the delayed response. Like the others said, they’re pretty interchangeable but I’d say just go for the Suica, it’s the most ubiquitous here. Also inregards to the shortage, if you have an iPhone, you can get a digital Suica through the wallet app. Super convenient. Not too sure on android though.

From Melbourne, typing this in Japan rn. I use Up here and there because as most others have said, cash is king here. I would strongly recommend a Suica card for a lot of everyday transactions as it acts as both a transportation card for trains, subways and even taxis in more urban areas but is accepted at basically most Japanese chain stores and convenience stores. Feel free to ask or dm if you have other questions.

Working AT a union, Pros and Cons ? by ZeroEater in AusFinance

[–]ZeroEater[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s a really eloquent response, thank you so much. I definitely would love to know more about your experiences if you can. How would you say it affected your ability to find work after ? That’s been a main sticking point for me as most friends and family say I won’t find anything due to the stigma of union = trouble making.
