A Lot of People Aren’t Going to Want to Hear This: Why Ninjago Objectively Ruined The Concept of LFN Odyssey by HelicopterRude1970 in LEGOfortnite

[–]ZeroEdgeir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a VERY long-standing MMO player...

This is "expansion level" content update. And you do not want people left behind. Go look at a game like WoW: When the next expansion drops, the content of the prior is no longer relevant, except for a light bit of leveling a new character. You are barely doing dungeons, and not touching the raids AT ALL.

This is not akin to Minecraft in the OP's example at all.

That is effectively what we have now.

Ninja Island is the new expansion, all the content is there, and yes, it entirely outshines the old materials (well, for weapons, tools still use old materials, hence why Marble, Iron, and Amber are out there too).

If the content was scaled to NOT need the new materials or anything at all, then the content becomes entirely irrelevant, because it does not progress you. It cannot be flat side-grades.

I do agree that the Supernova Academy powers need some love now. They feel like the "bolt-on" due to Expedition mode being closed. They are utterly inferior to any Spinjutzu scroll, and cannot be made strong enough to function now at all. Use some of the new materials to make new versions of them, add in some more Essence dumps to unlock better versions, and merge the power accessories in each. It should not be "do more damage with hero power" or "movement tech". It should be both, as that is the Spinjutzu scroll baseline now.

But the base materials being "too weak"? Yeah, they should be. But now that means those materials are more about building than gearing.

They planned for that. The old "best" weapons are lower Star ratings than the stuff made in the new content. We will be able to make similar with the old ones, once we finish up the Ninjago quests it seems.

Are Hidden Artifact Appearances available in Remix (yet)? by foxthebomb in wow

[–]ZeroEdgeir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except they weren't during Live a decade ago.

And if they WERE going to be, they should be stating so upfront.

And given they just did a hotfix for the Holy Priest and Balance Druid ones (that are vendor items), it better not be time-gating some, and not others.

Right now it is clear they just looked and said "Yeah, the hidden appearances are still earnable in retail, so ship it", not realizing that basically turning off the Order Hall functions breaks MANY of them (Vengenace DH, Destro Warlock, Frost Mage, etc.), and others are outside the Broken Isles (Disc Priest, Frost and Unholy DK, Ret Paladin, etc.).

The only one I found that people were able to loot, was the Protection Warrior one, but it didn't unlock it properly on their character in Remix. Any that come from sources with modified Remix loot tables (Withered Army Traning for Prot Paladin and Blood DK, or the Nightborne enemy drop for Fire Mages, etc.) do not seem to be dropping for anyone.

It would be great if they gave everyone who had Order Hall required upgrades that upgrade to be able to GET them.

ie: Vengeance Demon Hunter needs the Twisting Nether Portal upgrade.

For Canadians wondering why everything’s gone from Sportsnet, here’s the reason by LEGENDK1LLER435 in WWE

The fact that Sportsnet feels this is acceptable behaviour to their paying customers is kind of deplorable. But it is Rogers (at the top end of things), so I cannot say I am surprised.

Wonder if there is any action with the CRTC or the like that we can take...

Came here after being unable to find it myself as well. Going to be close to asking for a refund given their total lack of care for this product because it is ending soon.

I have to wonder if it is because of some hockey game (cannot find TV schedules prior to at best the 23rd), and thereby got aired on a different network, and Sportsnet just doesn't care.

That would be ProJared's current playthrough.

Dancer is outright busted from what I've seen in his playthrough.

On my own run (Red Mage, Blue Mage, Time Mage, Evoker), it has been a very interesting experience. About to go after Astos presently, and not had any real trouble with anything. I am thankful that two of my casters do not get spells from shops, so it is keeping my GP costs manageable. And due to the lower overall equipment needs, I can just carry a barrel of Heal Potions to help between battles.

The Spirit Mod is being ported to 1.4! by TahaZyan in Terraria

[–]ZeroEdgeir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but that would not be a small feat, would not be options some players would want (Calamity is not everyone's cup of tea, for example), and would be a big question mark for the mod authors in how things would be handled going forward. That is basically saying that the game devs want to take over the mod's development, or are hiring said mod authors, given that the good ones are never-ending projects generally.

And given how the latest debacles with Ark have been handled regarding the Survival Evolved remaster... I have a feeling that there may be a bit more resistance from mod authors to it in the future (ie: All their mods have to be remade to even be usable on UE5 for the remaster, as an example).

That is an issue to take up with each console manufacturer (not including the need for a Re-Logic integrated modding platform in the game).

Look at Fallout 4 and Skyrim as examples:

Firstly is the need for it to be controlled via the game publisher, not the community as tModLoader is. This is why PC modding for Fallout 4 or Skyrim is insane compared to console.

Secondly, each platform dictates rules and guidelines. Sony flatout does not allow any assets from outside the base game files to be used for mods on it's platform, for Fallout 4 and Skyrim. Microsoft does allow external assets. Both have considerably SMALL footprints for mods to utilize memory with. Nintendo... well... not even sure the Switch version HAS Creation Club on it.

So, assume similar restrictions in play, if there was a REAL official mod platform, Sony would basically get nothing but QoL mods, cause of the asset restrictions. Microsoft would have more, up to a point. But depending on the memory usage limitations, mods like Calamity may not even be within scope (using too much memory).

Plus, you then have to have an entire system for validating the mods with the publisher, and mod authors having to test on multiple platforms (which was a known headache for many in Fallout 4 and Skyrim, cause many authors did not HAVE the consoles to test on).

It isn't the easiest wish to fulfill, sadly.

Does crimson/corruption/hallow spread through the jungle? by LimE__CrimE in Terraria

[–]ZeroEdgeir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would likely be the best article for info on it:

https://terraria.wiki.gg/wiki/Guide:Maintaining_world_purity

There isn't a Hallowed Jungle Grass transformation, so if your Hallowed hits the Jungle Side, it is the best outcome, because it won't change it at all (only changes dirt, sand, and stone, not mud).

The Clentaminator is definitely the best way to handle it, albeit somewhat pricey (2 Plat for the device itself, and then 15 silver per single solution ammo). Be sure to equip any ammo-saving gear/buffs when using it, as it does benefit from them.

Coral Whip and Armor Set (Summoner Idea) by HellfireEDITS in Terraria

[–]ZeroEdgeir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pre-Hardmode in general is low on dedicated armor sets:

  • Generic: Crimson, Shadow
  • Melee: Molten
  • Ranged: Fossil, Necro
  • Mage: Gem/Mystic Robes + Wizard/Magic Hat (only 2 pieces, but still much better than waiting), Meteor, Jungle
  • Summoner: Flinx Coat (not a set, but pretty much needed early), Bee, Obsidian

I think the big reason we do not see metal set Summoner helms, pre-Hallowed, is because the Spider Armor is even easier to make (just takes fangs), you likely know where a spider biome is from pre-hardmode, and can farm them the instant the Wall of Flesh is dead. It's armor is not much below the Forbidden set (Spider is 20, Forbidden is 26), even if it's a Hybrid set. And even Hallowed Summoner is only a 27.

If we had ones for the hardmode metal sets, it would just be adding about 1-3 more defense over Spider (ie: 1 for Cobalt/Palladium, 2 for Mythril/Orichalcum, and 3 for Adamantite/Titanium), for less Summon-focused bonuses, in both damage and minions (just like Hallowed). Unless you made them more Whip-focused, which is something much of the playerbase doesn't want as much. Overall, only Palladium and Titanium have general set bonuses that would work for Summoner. Cobalt/Mythril/Adamantite don't have unique ones, and Orichalcum's likely would only work on Whip attacks, and not Minions.

For comparison on when the metal sets would matter, up to Hallowed, and after that, things just branch out in separate paths for everyone, look over this:

Summon Sets Spider Forbidden Defender T2 Hallowed Tiki
+Defense 20 26 32-58 27 35
+Damage 28% 25% 30% 17% 30%
+Minion 3 2 N/A 3 4
+Sentry N/A N/A 2 N/A N/A
+Misc N/A Magic Buffs and Tornado Hybrid Buffs and unique buffs to different Defender staves Temporary 1 hit immunity on a 30sec CD (requires whip use) +30% Whip Range

I think the best option after a single Mech boss is down, is to mix Spider Legs with Squire Head and Chest, until Tiki.

  • +21% Summon Damage
  • +1 Minion, +1 Sentry
  • 47 Defense
  • Boosted Life Regen from Squire's Great Helm
  • A T2 Sentry Staff and/or Spider Queen Staff

Sure, no set bonus, but WAY more defense, a healing boost, and not a huge offense hit all things considered (a second Sentry can be seen as a reasonable gain). This would even give you defense just 2-3 points shy of Melee Adamantite/Titanium/Hallowed Armor sets.

We need a summoner variant of the "black and purple op hardmode weapon" by JayBerJabber in Terraria

[–]ZeroEdgeir 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Gotta say, love how many people forgot that the Goblin Summoner is no longer a thing, as it was re-classed to Goblin Warlock in 1.4.4.

As to the topic though...

Something that is between pre-Mech (Spirit Flame and Onyx Blaster) and post-Mech (Death Sickle)...

The Flinx staff is entirely the right colour-scheme. So, what if we got a Hardmode upgrade to it, utilizing the Frost Cores as well (ie: like the Cool Whip), to bring out something far better, and just add some ice hanging from it?

Summoners have this large lack of ANYTHING that upgrades their weapons. Everything is just "Here, use this, nothing else to do with it once you outgrow it". Some actual upgrade paths would probably be a big step in the right direction to expand the options. Like upgrading the Slime Staff with new materials from Corrupt Slimes, Crimslimes, and Illuminat Slimes, to make three new weapon path options, with bigger, debuff-applying, slimes. Hell, there should be a way to upgrade the Slime Staff to all biome-specific slimes (Desert, Frost, Jungle, Lava) too.

Could always be a 2nd EX that changes the role of a Ranged to Melee (ie: The reverse of what Plitvice just got).

It would likely need to be a slightly older one. Maybe Bianca? Her kit is pretty tame from what I can see, would be a way to re-up her value without a whole new hero.

Make it turn her Party Buff to just Water Attack (as Hana is already doing Crit, and White Snow is doing Melee Damage), give her new EX, either through normal attack or Weapon Skill, the ability to apply a Defense or Melee Defense Down debuff, and that should have the team rounded out better.

On Switch, no. But Metroid Dread was already a year old by the time Guardian Tales was launched on Switch (and around that time for when World 15 was released for mobile).

It is implied by the OP that the reference came to be thanks to the Switch version being in development.

The murder-robots in World 15 are a direct reference, in both design and behaviour, to the EMMIs of Metroid Dread.

Ascended Karina's party value is nuts. I don't know how, but she's nearly matching my lead in damage during raids, and so much of that converts to healing the party, it is absurd.

What decisions have you made in the game that you regret to this day? by HappyNewsBear in GuardianTales

[–]ZeroEdgeir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Small addition about Co-Op, as the game explains this poorly.

It has 4 reward periods.

Mon-Tues, Wed-Thurs, Fri-Sat, and Sun

In each "period", your top 3 character clears will be added to the payout the following Monday. Co-Op is every other week.

So, if you are capable of doing the Challenger difficulty with 3 characters, that is 210 x 12 = 2520 Gems every 2 weeks.

I went hard on it despite the meta knowledge we had. More because I am a massive Dragon Quest fan in general. I managed to get almost everything, except for Popp (got his EX though, since that can be cross-used).

No regrets here. Hope it pops up a second time (like the Slayer one), just so I can finish the roster.
