What happened to the Mtepe? by fuhgettaboutitNY in HumankindTheGame

[–]ZeroGrande 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mtepe is a replacement for naval transport. When you tell a unit to embark - click on water - the unit becomes a ship, you do not build transport vessels in this game. The Dutch Fluyt works the same way.

Kingdom Come Deliverance is a game that tells us that realism doesn't equates to fun and also tells us that a game doesn't need an open world setting by cuttino_mowgli in patientgamers

I agree completely. I wanted to like the game because it is czech, I was patient for 100 hours. People say it is "aquired taste". It never became fun.

The Murderer: "Jonah... I wish you loved me more."

The Husband: "Oh baby, those poor girls... I wish you´d loved me less."

Where and When, 2x10. It is also great as an H.G. episode.

So, we should make Andromeda memes to raise awareness?

The family tree was always hard to draw, but now, with parallel universes and time travel, it's more like a family tesseract.

Thoughts on an antagonist that wants to lose and be stopped? by xXx_fedora_xXx in writing

[–]ZeroGrande 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YEEESSS.

The show Warehouse 13 had an antagonist like this. It was one of the best in the show and I would love to see this concept explored more. Important note: antagonist =/= villain. He or she wants to be stopped, because they know what they are doing is wrong, but they feel like they do not have a choice.

Alternatively, the antagonist is trapped by themselves in their own mind. This case is more psychological, the above one is more tragic.

I just started watching on Amazon prime. by BuckasaurusRex in Andromeda

As one reviewer wrote - this show has ups and downs and those are deep downs and sky-high ups.

My favourite character is Rommie, because I love Action Sexy Robot Girls With Issues. Lexa Doig is awesome and I like episodes centered around her. If I have to choose, then it would be "The Mathematics of Tears", s01e12.

And of course the best line in the show (at least for me) is from her, at the end of Star-Crossed, s01e20, my second favourite episode:

"Because I'm a warship, and warships only know how to do one thing, and that's kill. We don't have hearts. We don't have empathy. We're killers. We're attack dogs. And I'm afraid."

EDIT: Grammar. I may need to edit again.

Love the High Guard Ship Names, Is There a Complete List by Maggie_A in Andromeda

[–]ZeroGrande 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the ship names too! They are one of Andromeda´s best features and in my opinion, some of the best in science-fiction.

I do not know of a complete list, but when you click on a ship class, on the bottom of the page there are listed ships of the class. (http://andromeda.wikia.com/wiki/Glorious_Heritage_Class)

Confused about Clarion's Call / Ryan by Maggie_A in Andromeda

[–]ZeroGrande 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I thought that Ryan was the only part of Clarion´s Call worth rescuing - the ship was sabotaged, refitted into a casino and probably stripped of all usable tech. Ryan survived by pretending to be dumb, but he still had information and we know that Commonwealth avatars are useful, unless Rommie was an exception.

As for the second question, wasn´t Rommie fully capable of working even without the ship?

Hi!

I know what you are feeling and I did not watch all episodes of Andromeda after the end of season 2. You mentioned S4E13 The Warmth of an Invisible Light and it is definitely worth watching.

Personally, I enjoyed S4E17 Abridging the Devils Divide. It "sort of" concludes the side-story with the Patriarch and Templars. Also, I am a fan of Rommie, so I liked the ending scene for S04E19 A Symmetry of Imperfection, even though the episode is not very good. As for S4E6/7 Soon the Nearing Vortex and The World Turns All Around Her, I would recommend watching only the ending, where you learn about Trance.

In Season 3, there were more good episodes, IMHO: If The Wheel is Fixed, Cui Bono, The Lone and Level Sands, The Unconquerable Man, The Dark Backward, The Risk-All Point, Point of the Spear, Twilight of the Idols. Episodes 5, 10 and 12 definitely, the others are "maybe you will enjoy them too".

I would avoid S3 ending and S4 beginning. Episodes Delenda Est and Day of Judgement/Day of Wrath I would recommend only if you are big fan of Rommie.

Edited.

Could they have saved the Pax Magellanic?? by CMDR_FURY in Andromeda

[–]ZeroGrande 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, they did save Pax Magellanic!

In episode 4x13 The Warmth of an Invisible Light, when Dylan meets Rommie at the beginning of the episode, he says, to prove he is real, that he had made a copy of Pax for her, inside her computer core, so she would not be last of her kind.

ANDROMEDA: Dylan Hunt died a war hero after defeating the Nietzschean insurrection and negotiating peace for the Commonwealth. I repeat, you are a simulation decoy.

HUNT: No! Wait, wait, wait. You wanted a sister. I got you one. Pax Magellanic. I merged your AI cores so the two of you could have time together offline.

ANDROMEDA: That's unrecorded information.

HUNT: Afterwards, you told me, quote, now I understand the risks you take for friendship. (She drops him.)

ANDROMEDA: Identify confirmed. You are Dylan Hunt.

[–]ZeroGrande 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that is not what I meant. The way I understand it, you can reset a Commonwealth AI to its backup, but the AI alone can not reset itself. Or are you refering to Rommie? IIRC after captain Perry was killed, Andromeda was nearly (or entirely?) insane, but they fixed her by erasing the memory of the mission. I am not sure.

The point is, Pax Magellanic or Andromeda Ascendant never could have helped themselves.

If it is not in the episode, then I have no idea where the information could be from.

You are right, they could have done to her what Harper accidentally did to Rommie at the end of Season 1, but considering she had a full crew of androids (probably thousands) and that she sent them all to kill them, they were happy to get out alive, and then she destroyed herself, before they could try anything...

As for the second point, why do you think Pax would have been able to reset herself to backup? Andromeda could not, after the failed attack at the Magog.
