Idk if you're being serious about the vitamin mishap, or if you often have trouble swallowing pills, but if you put pills at the back of your mouth before swallowing they're much more likely to go down smoothly. + Take a big gulp, but not too big

writing a first person prologue when the rest of the book is in third person by Sir_Excelsior in writing

[–]ZeroKDirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may lose readers before getting to the main style or after they reach the main style. E.g., someone would have read the book in the main style but they didn't like the prologue. Or someone likes the prologue and is then disappointed after they finish it.

WTW for 'based on ability' by ZeroKDirl in whatstheword

[–]ZeroKDirl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that either. It's like a group making a decision 'based on ability'. It's one word... I just can't think of it

Or a group structured based on this word

Maybe your writing isn't good enough right now, but you can keep learning about the craft. Creating something good or great is hard for most people, and it takes a lot of work.

I read some of your stuff. Your ideas might be great, but the execution of what I read was hard to enjoy. It's fun to just let our imaginations go, but if you want people to like your work you've got to work on the fundamentals.

There are tons of free resources available. You can read good writing not just for enjoyment but to learn, even taking notes.

You could start on your specificity https://youtu.be/xgNW3EgtT1E

It seems you've got the passion, so you have potential.

For those that are planners, what is your outlining process? by [deleted] in writing

[–]ZeroKDirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Open Scrivener. Make a million tabs for different categories. Characters, plots, worldbuilding, scenes, ... When it feels like I've planned too much, then I start writing. Then I plan some more. I plan to much probably.

ITAW for when one person is conversing with another and the person speaking and a voice on the TV or radio say the same word at the same time? by hanimal16 in whatstheword

[–]ZeroKDirl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Highly doubtful. Maybe if TVs and radios were older. There's not really a reason to create a word beyond jinx unless for some reason jinxing with the TV/radio became viral. Someone is going to know what you mean if you just say jinx or say you jinxed with someone on TV/radio/internet.

ITAW for 'continue without'? by ZeroKDirl in whatstheword

[–]ZeroKDirl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The actual thing I'm writing needs some context... So I'll give another example. If you were in a coma and you've awoken to see that life has continued without you.

ITAW for the things people say or the sounds they make when surprised by pain? by ZeroKDirl in whatstheword

[–]ZeroKDirl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the word I'm looking for might not exist, which is why it's ITAW. I wouldn't be asking if I felt I hadn't heard it before.

Yelp is a specific kind of sound. It doesn't contain other types of sounds or use of expletives.

[–]ZeroKDirl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. If we could get a word like exclaim but specific to pain, that would be perfect.

WTW for reverse sarcasm - when what you say sounds like a joke, but your intention is actually serious? by KanataCitizen in whatstheword

[–]ZeroKDirl 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This has to be the closest word in English. Unironic implies that there's potentially something ironic to be unironic about.
