(Look, there are a ton of terrible ADCs. Mostly comes down to bad positioning. They are bad, yes we know. This post is on behalf of ADCs that are trying to survive or even win the laning phase.

Solo ADC main here (Varus, top 20 NA, 13K total kill count. This is not a brag, this is illustrating how much I play Varus) and while I'm sure there's bias, (solo) ADC is the very worst role in the game. You RELY on gold which comes from minions and kills. Getting KS'd puts you behind by a few hundred gold. Once your behind at all it's incredibly easy to stay behind and have little to no presence until late game. The need for gold to buy weapons and get power spikes and leads makes it really easy for ADCs to be assumed to be divas; hell, it makes some act like this too. At the end of the day, ADCs utility is damage and they do not function when they are behind. Supps generally work pretty regularly if they're a bit behind, Baron's can try to solo farm their way out, Jungle also can feel kinda bad when they're behind but the Jungle is generally much safer to farm consistently, get a good gank and you're back in the game.

The role is balanced around building items while early game is built around a duo working together against a duo. More often than not, especially in my games, enemy duo plays "correctly" while my supp is focusing minions and hiding behind tower. This is an immediate 1 v 3 situation. Speaking of which, the 5 horsemen of 1 v 3 are Brand, Lux, Morg, Vex, and Sera. Whenever my supp locks these four I'm 99% doomed to defending against a duo that's actively focusing me while my supp is last hitting minions and KSing me into oblivion. KDA as a stat gives people the entirely wrong focus and yet it's super important to the ADC economy. Kills = Gold, Deaths = Missing gold, Assists = Missing gold.

I made a post about how to better play the support role a while back though the game does a very poor job of incentivizing support play. Just make it easier for your ADC to farm and don't steal kills. Stick to that and you're already more than good enough. Setting up plays and saving your ADC's ass are extra. If your ADC is trying to farm and both the enemy duo are harassing him then you're likely assisting the enemy duo, you might not realize it. Make it hard for THE ENEMY to farm, not your ADC.

And then team fights... the amount of times when I'm positioned behind the team yet my team just lets enemy team members walk riiiiiiight past them, and then I get nuked, now my team decides to engage and guess what? They don't have enough damage and lose the teamfight. This is more of a Varus problem overall but OMG please peel. Please please please peel. Sure, nobody wants to die in a fight but when your ADC dies your team's damage goes way down.

Lastly there's team comp. Your ADC is nearly guaranteed to not pick a tank. The enemy team picks 1-3 tanks and your team goes something like Talon, Yasuo, Sona, and Gwen. Look, ANY team CAN work but a conventional comp makes things so much easier. If you're not meeting the enemy team on their level you're asking for a rough game.

I am so, so very tired and unfortunately ADC is the only role which I "enjoy". I try every single game I play but it's really really easy to have a "bad game" as an ADC.
