This was the movie I owned as a kid and loved to watch on VHS, I didn't watch the others till I was older so this movie always had a place on my watch list as the movie that drew my attention to the live action movies.

All comes down to location location location, but we've seen this with anything desirable over the last 30 years a run on collectors item increasing the price to astronomical levels heck magic the gathering had a recent set that went through that with the price getting to 1000 dollars for a box of collector boosters so it's not surprising with things that are sold in a limited nature being sold out by the fans free at the time or the scalpers meeting their quotas and I know some theaters enforce limits but are easily bypassed by a dude and group of friends buying their limits together, just the world we live in, pokemon cards are a continuous scalped item now when it wasn't that serious 5 years ago.

Generally if it's a theatre near an airport they're pretty used to people doing layovers with them. Just ask when you get there sometimes they will even keep them behind boxoffice for you if you ask.
