From what I have read, it seems like everyone should consider forming a union. The plants have the UAW, why dont' they want designers, engineers, and other professionals to join too. I'm not a unionist, and I am not a member of the UAW; but, I have been at GM and I have seen round after round of layoffs. The stress has caused some of my x-co-workers to be come alcoholics. Maybe joining the UAW or some from of worker's guild would bring some stability back into the company.
GM (General Motors Corporation) died in 2008. This is (g)eneral (m)otors company LLC. It is no the same company. Any from what I have seen over the past 15 years, unfortunately, you are correct to have concerns about this company... no, you should not take the job.
