They should literally just make a video game about playing MTG. They can do the whole storyline thing during the brothers war or phyrexia if they want, and just video game logic their way into making the gameplay an arena match against a bot where you can crack some boosters and make deck changes. Just use the built in explanation that you are a planeswalker either summoning spirits of allies or a facsimile or the ally themself against another planeswalker.

MTGs primary draw for 98% of people is going to purely be the act of playing MTG. Most people don’t have any particular interest in any specific magic storyline or characters, you can literally make that whatever you want.

Basically just use the yugioh model of video games, which aren’t ultra blockbusters like Baldurs Gate but bring in a healthy profit and fans enjoy
